For desserts in the newer dorms, or at least for the 331 TRS, the refrigerator is in front of the MTI snake pit. But when I went through BMT almost a year ago, they didn't have jack squat in those fridges. For breakfast, they'd have like grapefruits, butter, and soy milk or something dumb like that. For lunch, they'd put the leftover yogurts from breakfast in there, and for dinner, SOMETIMES they'd have pudding or jello in one of those glass chalice things. If you looked sharp going up to the fridge, the MTIs pretty much ignored you since there was usually nothing worth getting in the first place and they must have just been like "eh, might as well just let them get their grapefruit". The only time I ever saw pie at BMT besides graduation weekend was at Christmas lunch.
Mandatory patio break? Damn. What squadron were you in, where that was a thing? Also, our TI made a bet with our flight, that if we all passed our EOC, we can all go get cake, no harassment. They know there's always at least one person who fails it, but we performed a miracle, and everyone passed. The look on his face when we were back in the dayroom was like, "man.... I fucked up."
Nice video. Things have sure changed in the 44 years since I went thru Air Force boot camp. Certainly no deserts in cafeteria. No patio breaks.We did PT in our combat boots. It just wasn't a pleasant experience.Good luck in your future with the Air Force.

Leaving for BMT at the end of the year. Been hearing from a lot of people who've gone through BMT about desserts and I don't even eat sweets like that. They can keep the cakes and candy lol
last night on bmt the TI takes the entire flight to the day room where its amnesty night where you tell the TI everything you think you did wrong at bmt and you didnt get in trouble and it turned out that some of the things the TI already knew...like after taps we used to stay up for a bit reading and writing letters we had the old flashlight with the yellow cone and there was like a plastic piece on the bed that we used to remove and put it on the cone so that there was no beam ...and the ti was like yea i knew you guys were doing that and you have no idea how hard it was for me trying to keep everyone at CQ from finding out what ya were doing...our TI was coold....sgt young
my boyfriend is currently at bootcamp right now, and sent me a letter saying he would be getting base liberty sometime. are they allowed to make phone calls ? he said he could call but one is a payphone and the other would be his..
Thanks alot buddy. Nothing but solid, useful info for a DEP-er like myself. This brought up a question: Do you think it's better to lay-low+stay under the radar as far as PT/Job assignments/etc, or is it better to try and take leadership roles and excel in PT as soon as possible in BMT? Some people have said it's better to lay low so you don't get yelled at, just coast through BMT. Others say its better to work hard and try to stand out.
It all depends on what you want out of BMT and what type of person you are. Some people are gung-ho and ready to take on challenges, and some people have no problem with taking a few orders and lying low. So it all is dependent on your personality. I never wanted to ask myself the question "what if..." What if I volunteered or stepped up. And now I know. And it's made me a stronger person in the long run.

So I went in the other day to the Recruiter Office we Talked and everything and I took the Practice ASVAB I scored Low But he Told me to Come back in 2months do I really gotta Wait that Long ?
Im 3 years late, but that doesnt sound right. First time I took the practice test, i scored a 30. My recruiter told me to study for a couple of weeks, but I came back 2 days later and got a 53. Then got a 76 on the real test a couple of weeks after that. If you want it then you'll work for it.
we had patio breaks in the army, they were also known as Getting smoked until you puke, ok maybe it wasn't a break but it felt like it in comparison with the rest lol
I've watched almost all your videos, I have a few questions, I am going to be Inlisting in a few weeks. 1. Is there coffee? And can we smoke cigarettes in bmt? 2. If we get married during our first leave, do we have to live in the dorms for 2 years? 3. Will I be stationed by my wife( I live in Texas, she lives in new braunfels).. I'm very worried about the time apart and the distance but am very determined to be a part of something honorable.

How long are you in basic training after graduation? I don't remember when we had town liberty but I do remember we shipped out the night that we graduated
If you dont mind me asking, how many letters were you able to send home while. Being at BMT? My boyfriend left 2 weeks ago and havent heard from him...is this normal?
I don't own a cell phone; neither my parents nor I ever really saw the need for me to have one. So..will I be able to call my parents in week 0? Because don't they tell you to get out your cell phone and call your parents before they confiscate it?

Sorry just finished the OPM. Well it was basically a private investigation if you're flagged out after filling the files you first get from your recruiter (as my recruiter explained) usually the guy clarified what I was flagged on like if I or my family have contacts with other relatives from other country, or some report (DUI's,etc.) I think it's a security clearance since the note said it's about someone who's taking a job from the government office etc.
Ohh you mean just the basic background checks? They do those for everyone coming into the military. It's just an investigation to make sure you're okay to join
I wish my trainee had an opportunity for any of these privileges, his MIT is an asshole that never allowed them personal time, phone time, or base lib, during covid-19 too...which made it worse because there was no town passes anyway.
+Ajw312 Just do a reporting statement, and then answer the question. If it's a yes or no question, then you can just say "yes/no sir" without a reporting statement
The bases are overcrowded and if they're above 90% then they start going through a list and moving people off. However typically once you hit E4 or get married you get moved off the base dorms. So for those going in as E3 you'll probably be on base for a year then you'll hit E4 and then you'll be one of the first on the list to get moved off.

I think you have to get 100. And you have to be able to do somewhere between 5-10 pullups for males. I cant remember. If you have the DEP app then it should tell you
You don't get your own free apartment- but you move out of the dorms and either into base housing or into the local city and pay rent in a normal apartment.

cool121092 IMHO if you're a single airmen the only reason you should move out of the dorms into civi apartments is to get extra cash by sharing the apartment with 1 or two dudes. $900 rent lets say and you get 1k BAH 900 split 3 ways is 300. Boom $700 in the pocket.
