In the 80's I was in college and supported myself with house cleaning. Even though all my customer supplied me with a vacuum cleaner I ended up buying the mighty mite. It was easier to use a canister vacuum then the sweeping. Mighty mite is the best canister vacuum ever.

I got my first mighty mite 10 years ago, at a garage sale. replaced a wheel and a hose from an online order. Since then I have bought 4, 1 for each of my grandchildren as they moved out on their own. Can’t beat them for pet hair and they are so small and store easily. Even an impatient teen can use them. This review was detailed, brief and concise, thank you so much!

First time I've watched a review by you and am impressed by the professionalism shown by such a young man. I'm leaning heavily towards a canister vacuum, although I've never had one. My advancing age, and a medical condition, means I need to push/pull something a bit lighter. That Hoover is great, but also heavy. If a lighter vacuum will do the job, I'm going for it.
@ModernCastle

Thanks so much for your kind words! Glad to hear our videos are well received :) If you're looking for a high performance canister vacuum you may also want to consider the Miele Classic C1. See our review here - moderncastle.com/vacuum-cleaner-reviews/miele-classic-c1-review/ Granted, if you just want something more basic and less expensive, the Mighty Mite is of course a good option.

You should have addressed the clogging issue with the bend and the nozzle aggravating it if the hose were designed to separate from the angular nozzle it could have been cleared easily
@ModernCastle
@ModernCastle 4 года назад
There is no question, you could have easily cleared the clog. Nevertheless, it still did clog. Which is not something I've encountered on more expensive canister vacuums. As such, we felt it was worth noting.

hey. good review. question: a few inches up from the floor cleaning head there appears to be a "park feature"...only I cannot find the 'slot' on the machine to insert it into. Do you get what I mean? on some vc models you can slide this head into the body of the canister and the head of the sweeper in fixed and not leaning on a wall or just on the floor. thanks, Joe
@ModernCastle
@ModernCastle 4 года назад
Hi Joe, Unfortunately, I'm not sure what you mean by that. I am not aware of a park feature on the Mighty Mite.

I have had two Mighty Mite vacuums. They are fantastic vacuums for bare floors! I love them. I wanted to ask, can you use one of these outside to vacuum up dry leafs, dry bird seed hulls, and a little dry soil without hurting the vacuum?
@ModernCastle
@ModernCastle 7 месяцев назад
I haven't tried it, but my guess would be no. Those types of vacuums that can handle leaves, seed, soil, etc. are shop vac grade. Their designs and container bins are different than this type of a canister. You are very likely going to deal damage to the Mighty Mite and break it before too long vacuum outside debris.

I can't imagine a review being any better than this one. You covered everything. My only point of question is the weight - you say 8.6 lbs whereas the Amazon website lists the weight as 11.6 lbs. Time to get out the scale. Another reviewer eliminated the Bissell Zing I was considering by saying that the components were made of cheap plastic compared to the metal components of the Eureka Whirlwind. So, now I'm down to two Eurekas - the Whirlwind and the Mighty Mite. Since the description of the Whirlwind doesn't mention anything about power (8A, 960W from the question section) and it has less 5 star ratings than the other two vacuums, I think I'll go with the Eureka Mighty Mite (10A, 1400W). Even if the Whirlwind weighs 11.6 lbs compared to your estimate of 8.6 lbs that is still a lot less than the 18 lbs of my 40 year old Sears canister vacuum. Thanks for narrowing down my list. It would be interesting to hear a comparison of vacuums that use bags versus vacuums that have those washable, removable filters. The Mighty Mite is bagged whereas the Whirlwind is washable. I get the feeling that the higher end vacuums use bags.
@ModernCastle
@ModernCastle 3 года назад
Thank you! Regarding the weight, many times Amazon product weights are based on the weight of the entire package (box and product). My weight is the product weight. We just put it on a scale once we got it unboxed.
@STBRetired1
@STBRetired1 3 года назад
@@ModernCastle - I believe you are correct. I went back to the Amazon ad for the Mighty Mite. In the description by the picture it states "weighs less than 9 lbs.". But, in the more detailed description far below, it lists the weight as "11.6 lbs". So your assumption is most likely correct that the 11.6 lbs is the fully boxed up package weight. Thanks for the review it helped make up my mind. My Mighty Mite will arrive at my home on March 14th. I also got the extended warranty.

Nicely done! Very informative - the noise level reading is especially useful. More information on the hose would be helpful: is it flexible or stiff; does it feel well made or cheap? The wheels look very cheap: do they roll or just slide around?
@ModernCastle
@ModernCastle 5 лет назад
In general, I would describe the Mighty Mite as a "cheap vacuum". The hose is on the stiffer side and the wheels are okay at best. But, the price is cheap too...so you get what you pay for. For $70 I'd still say it's a pretty good value. If you want a higher end canister vac with better wheels, hose, etc. go with the Miele C1 - moderncastle.com/vacuum-cleaner-reviews/miele-compact-c1-review/
@rebeccabalbuenarb
@rebeccabalbuenarb 4 года назад
Hose over some tome is flexible... the wheels do roll. But should your vacuum fall down a flight of a few stairs you do run the risk of breaking the wheel but it can be placed back on unless connector portion of breaks in half... I use it for house cleaning and they tend to last me a few years. I’m sure that for home use it would give a lot longer

Thank you for your review! I have one of these on order and I'm looking forward to getting to try tomorrow. Concerning the HEPA filter issue... Does it change anything to use a HEPA replacement bag? I see that they are actually available for purchase for a little more than the standard bags. Would they work in this vacuum, or does it not even make a difference to use a HEPA bag in a " non-HEPA" vacuum? Also-- what are your thoughts on how important HE PA filters are to a family who does not have pets, no allergies or respiratory issues to deal with, and have a fairly clean house that is vacuumed and dusted rather often. Do you think it's even an issue to be concerned with? Thanks a lot!
@ModernCastle
@ModernCastle 3 года назад
We've not tested a HEPA bag, but assuming it would fit in this machine, I would also think it would at least help. It's not going to be as good as a full HEPA / sealed machine (which are more expensive), but it will certainly be better than nothing. In my view, HEPA filters and sealed vacuums are very important. Yes, without pets you'll have less pet dander in the air / carpet and with no allergies that at least reduces the chance of serious illness. However, all of those small particulates and dust floating around and eventually landing on your carpet / floors can continually go airborne again. The more floating particulates in your home the higher the chance of colds and other illnesses (as virus and bacteria often hitch a ride to lighter than air particulates). For these reasons, a decent quality HEPA air purifier is also a good idea. If you find you and your family are sick more often that you would like, it might be due to the volume of dust and other particulates floating in your home.

On the link you provided, there are 2 models 3670G w/2 bags @ $81.99 & 3670M w/5 bags $74.99. Do you know the difference between the 2 models. I tried to do a side by side comparison but did not see a difference other than the price and amount of bags. Actually, the product description for the 3670M references 3670G. Otherwise, it makes the most sense to purchase the model with more bags at a cheaper price.
@ModernCastle
@ModernCastle 4 года назад
They appear to be exactly the same, except for the difference in vacuum bags. Not sure why the one with more bags is cheaper, but in any case, I'd buy the one also.
