I followed Chris Byrd & was amazed with his defence. Definitely not common among the heavy weights...Byrd was slick ,swing & a miss then the counter. No he wasn't a big slugger but understood the 'sweet science's! Always will be a fan of the horribly underrated heavy weight of most times!!!!
I feel like him after the metaphorical punches lmao but good memories watching this with my pops over one of his best friends houses Maurice will never forget it!!
When Holyfied stopped bouncing on those toes, that was the end of his career. He was flat footed in this fight, and Byrd made him look old and slow, but an Evander in his prime would have easily beat Byrd. Plus Holyfied was always the smaller man when he moved up to heavyweight, in this fight he was the big man. He needed his cruiserweight body for this fight.
I think bird took the bounce out of his step. Evander was a great fighter, but with all the steroids he took... no mercy. I dont care it you are 50. If you are juiced to the gills then there is no excuse
@@thebearcat you are right, Byrd was an exceptional talent. He fought heavyweights that had him by 20 on up to 50 pounds heavier. Ike ibeabuchi, is the only, fighter that whooped him. After that he lost to much weight.
Byrd is the most underrated fighter of the 90's. Victories over Tua and Holyfield. Not many can say that. I think Lewis is the only other one. Not bad company.
@@JeanValljeann sorry bro he beat a prime tua his problem was he was born in the wrong era he had a tyson/frasier style without the power against upper echelon opponents in a era where all the top heavyweights were 6'5 plus he was doomed from the beginning
@@ogconradmurray1510 Well said! Tua is one of the best to never be champion. One of the hardest punches and probably the best chin, just lacked the height and reach in the ever evolving heavyweight division.

It's fantastic what Oleksandr is doing. Great to see a fighter that's similar to Chris showing how stamina, brains, courage and skill are key ingredients for a boxer who wants to succeed and still be healthy for life after boxing.
Byrd Was a Tactical Genius..... but...I Think He lacked A little In The Devastion Department! Still....Mad Respect. Any Current Day Contender Would Be Blessed to Have Him In Their Camp!! I haven't heard from Him Lately. Hope He's Doing Great 🙏.

So many people frown on Byrd, So elusive, the prime objective of boxing!, Hit and don't get hit! Byrd was the best! The only boxer to make a Klitschko quit! Vitali! The better of the 2 brothers!
@@TheMrSatyricon That is correct but Vitali quit in the later rounds, he probably could of survived but Byrd had no quit I'm him and kept pressing the much larger man. He mentally broke. Watch it again, it was a Rocky Balboa moment for Byrd!
Nicklas Andersson no he didn’t dumb fuck he specified the reason that he bit evanders ear off was because of the headbutts. Do more research then come back. You could also watch film of the fights in slow motion and you would clearly see that evanders a cheating scumbag

Chris Byrd had a very unorthodox style. Not a lot of people could hit him. He just had no punching power that was his biggest downfall. A heavyweight with no punching power does not fair to well . A lot of guys still dodged him because of his style.

Charles luther Johnson . Christ is the slickest quickest heavy handed boxer of all time . He would have busted up tyson in his prime . Put alot of knots on him . And had him crying nonstop . Dammit !
Would've loved to see Byrd vs. Roy Jones Jr. It was supposed to happen but never did. I think RJJ knew there was a chance that Byrd would make him look foolish, Byrd being such a great defensive fighter.

Byrd didn’t have the punching power to keep Ikeabuchi off him, was getting ready to counter with right when Ikeabuchi’s much faster left caught him, fer sure Ikeabuchi’s team saw the opening while studying Byrd films.
Man, this Chris Byrd was nowhere to be found against David Tua. If there was a hope he would’ve jumped in it. Commentators never gave Tua a fair shake. Tua would’ve dropped Evander. Heck, he was giving it to Evander during sparring sessions for his fight prep against Tyson.
The punch of Byrd seem to do nothing to Holy just like little clap...and when Chrys receive a hit you see that he doesn't like it and they hurt...Holyfield was never and danger he was just to old for that
@@sinotte1981 I always wonder why some fighters don't have punching power. I remember when Riddick Bowe fought larry Donald. Bowe let Donald hit him with 3 clean power punches and bowe looked at him and started laughing
Come on now Holyfield was the baddest heavyweight champion he fought everyone you got to remember he was only a Cruiserweight and he smashed on everybody that's why they call them the real deal Holyfield
Casual, he doesnt do obvious headbutts otherwise the ref would take points/disqualify lol.. he ducks his head under and pushing it up into their neck/head area. Watch other evander fights he does these dirty/veteran tactics

Holyfield won this fight. He was the aggressor and none of Birds shots hurt Holyfield. However Holyfield hit Bird with some power. Judges sucked with the scoring.
Holyfild looks old in some fights and he looks sharp in other fights. Holyfild didn't retire till 12 years after this fight. But he looks slow flat foot and unfit.
