I agree with you, Evaporust is like a miracle cure for rust. I've used both MC-51 and Evaporust in the past and they're comparable to each other in their rust removal performance. Let's just hope that the people at Evaporust catch wind of your channel and start to sponsor your videos like Hand Tool Rescue. Maybe we your loyal subscribers can help to get the ball rolling in that department.

@@FixitRestoreit Yeah it would be a pleasure to help a channel that has brought me so much calm and happiness now and in the past. All it takes is for your subscribers to go to Evaporust's channel and leave a comment. Which is what I'm going to do right now. I'm also gonna try to get their email off of their corporate website and send them an email. Once again mate God Save the Queen and God Bless you. P.S. The black stuff that you wiped off after the soaking is just excess carbon build up. Also unless a job you're undertaking is time sensitive I would suggest leaving the rusted pieces to soak for as long as possible.

Thank you for your review. I just ordered 5 gallons for my project. I have one kitchen's worth of rusty cabinets. It took me a whole day to do one, this will save me so much time! I'll have a vintage kitchen way sooner than I thought i would! Lol

I de-rusted the interior of an old motorcycle petrol tanks which had quite a few crusty rust scabs in it as it hadn't done 1000 miles in 20 years. Clean as a whistle afterwards. Keep it above 20 deg C, lower than that it doesn't work.

I like the fish net idea! I have experienced the same darkening where the metal was hardened. The Evaporust seems to only react with the rust - I left a wrench soaking for a week and the good metal did not get eaten away. To me that's an advantage over using an acid to remove the rust.
@FixitRestoreit
@FixitRestoreit 5 лет назад
Yes, acid works great - albeit a little bit too good lol!

I tried some old chrome plated wrenches in vinegar and left it too long, the chrome was flaking off too. They were wrenches that came with the tool kit in a car so they weren't high quality.

It cleans up better if you clean the residue off while under a faucet as they recommend.

Nice channel you have here! I had a similar video idea where I showed how I was able to use only 5 gallons to fully submerge a V8 engine block. Had great results. You may want to try this technique. Keep up the good work!

I have used it very successfully restoring rusty hand planes. Sometimes have to leave in the solution for a couple days and the rust is gone or very easy to brush off. Forgot and left a pan of the stuff unattended for a week....be aware..evapo-rust will evapo-RATE...LOL Be sure to pour it back into a sealed container or it will totally evaporate..lol Can't gripe...was my fault...but it worked quite well.

One problem I’ve found with it is…even though the rust is removed it is then left with a black coating…it’s easily removed with a wire brush, but that defeats the object… Has anyone found a way of removing the black coating without brushing?.

Curious question, does it only work as well if you submerge the parts? I have something that is too big, can I just wipe the evaporust on the rust and let it sit?
@melgross
@melgross 11 месяцев назад
That won’t do much. You need liquid in enough volume to chemically interact with the rust. This isn’t like paint remover.

How can I clean a truck diesel truck. Evaporust advise to fill up the whole tank. It's a 40 gallon tank, it will be to expensive. A brand new tank costs around 300 hundred dollars. If I buy 40 gallons of evaporust will go over a thousand dollars. Thanks!

Remove the tank after draining it. Steam clean it. Put 10-20 gallons inside .block off all openings except for a tiny vent to relieve any pressure and rotate the tank around for several days.
