I just started watching Gotham while in Quarantine and for me, Cameron Monaghan was just insaneee as joker. I got goosebumps when he confessed that he murdered his mom and how he changed from angry to laughing within a second. This Guy needs a full joker movie.

I LOVE JEROME SO MUCH. Jeremiah was soo goood too, people don’t like Jeremiah because he’s not Jerome and he dosent act like him but the way Jeremiah showed his obsession towards Bruce and the seriousness. Both characters were sike in their own way, Cameron deserved a award for his characters in Gotham

People think of him lower because the show had its weak points, but if the focus was mainly on the stronger parts about the show and its characters Im sure he'd be rated way higher if people took time to watch it. Some didn't bother to get through seasons 1 and 2. His character gets better throughout the show. In general, I think he did great. Sure he doesn't "have the colours/look" but that's what I think made him unique to the rest.

Heath Ledger will NEVER be topped, no one committed themselves to that role as much as Heath did. Mark Hamill was good but he only did a voice over version, that doesn’t require anywhere near as much work!

Bryce Gladwin no he just took more time, time doesn’t equal more effort. Heath seriously pushed himself for that role more than anyone he even stayed in character when he wasn’t doing scenes. Plus he created the look for his joker, Mark didn’t and Heath even asked Christian to actually beat him up during the interrogation scene.

Covering more than the actor itself, I believe their point is the animated series joker was best because of the execution of the character, not he actor in question. Ledger had 1 movie and he absolutely nailed it. The animated series had two years and 85 cartoons to develop characters in. This is why it was the best joker, not because Hamill was better then ledger but the character was given ample time to develop.

There are a LOT of Jokers that should be higher on the list... and two that should be a lot lower. My top 5: 1: Hamill (all of them): He fits a mix of 40's Joker and 60's. As for Looper's wonder on why Joker would take that monster formula... WHY NOT? 2: Nicholson. He stayed fairly true to the original 40's Joker, albeit without the body count. Napier was actually a crook BEFORE the Joker (in the comic, Joker came from Red Hood). 3: Leto. Despite what you think of his look, he is nothing more than a modernized Joker. Only main issue I had? Too little screen time. 4: Dimaggio: Again, well-played, but the voice was off. 5: Romero's Joker: Pure 60's, but a bit light on the act. Why no Heath Ledger? Because the main thing about the Joker that I like... he makes me laugh and goes WAY overboard on his schemes. Ledger was... a thug with a gun. Sorry, I like a Joker to really be chaotic, blowing things up and having me laugh at it.

Agreed. Especially the line about his master plan in AA being turning himself into a giant drug monster. The cutscene preceding the final fight actually showed his plan was for Batman to fight a giant drug monster Gordon but it went to shit so he shot himself with the Titan formula instead.

WEVEZI WEVEZC Saying that voice acting isn’t acting at all is incredibly disrespectful and makes you look ignorant as hell. Hamill is a great actor and a great voice actor. Ledger’s Joker is great, but it’s not really very accurate to who the actual character is. It’s a fantastic spin on the character, but Hamill perfectly encapsulates who the Joker is in every single performance.

You know, there was a time when I would legitimately have given Ledger the nod as the best, even over Hamill, because Ledger's Joker seems to bring something to the character that he's never had before; a human motive. When talking to Dent, Ledger's Joker explains that he believes peace-loving, "decent" people are hypocrites, and his actions are all for the purpose of proving what liars they are. Even in his confrontation with Batman, this does still seem to be his motive. However, when I brought this up on the internet, five angry batman fans began to all-caps at me that Ledger's Joker *always* lies, and that even when he was explaining his alleged motives to Dent, that was *still* a lie. I can't prove them wrong, so... The point goes to Hamill by default, I guess, since Ledger may or may not have brought anything new to the character.

Honestly, the whole debate between Jared and Heath is pretty simple to me. Heath's Joker was actually scary, as the Joker is supposed to be. He was ACTUALLY an agent of chaos, while Jared's version was like a quirky uncle. There was nothing creepy about him, and people treat him like a sex symbol. So, therefore, Heaths version was waaaaay better for me.

I think the reason that i'd agree with placing Hamill's Joker first, is that while I agree Ledger gave an exceptional performance, it was a single movie. I think Hamill has to get bonus points, maybe helping him edge the top spot, for the consistancy of his performances.

Well, I liked and welcomed a new take on the Joker. He's known as the crown prince of crime. Many variations of him portray a kingpin who's out of his mind, and despite all of the flaws Jared's Joker did display that. Also, I tend to not look at something by accuracy to the original, because I believe something doesn't have to be the same to be good. Look at Aladdin. The live action remake had many differences, but people still liked it.

Nobody can do the same because his joker fit the darker setting of the trilogy so it's really apples to oranges when you put it beside the comics. The New DC movies have a darker thematic presence as well so Jared was basically appointed to do a darker joker without copying ledger and still feel as formidable in the DCEU with a god like superman running around. They shouldve literally just kept the joker out of it tbh

They're not ranking the actors, they're ranking the version of the joker they played. Arkham joker is decidedly his own distinct character from TAS Joker, and the two series share no continuity. And yes, Arkham Joker is of questionable quality compared to the others, and doesn't hold a candle to TAS. It's not the actor alone that makes or breaks a character, it's a mix of the actor, the writing, and the direction. A great actor will still give a terrible performance if they aren't matched with worthy writing or direction.

The whole point of The Joker is to be a match for Bats' brains, not his brawn. For him to roid-rage on venom is to give up the very thing that makes the character intriguing. The only reason they did it is because the industry has decided video games need massive, intimidating final boss fights. Nothing about that fight fit with the character. It wasn't clever. It wasn't funny. It was the Joker turning into a boring brute that might as well have been Bane. After the build up, it was a complete disappointment and does a disservice to just how cunning the Clown Prince of Crime can be.

Troy Baker's Joker here was probably my favorite of the game series- I found this design and voice more menacing than the Arkham City/Knight version. Troy Baker's performance was great, and -to a degree- I actually preferred Roger Craig Smith's Batman to Kevin Conroy in AK, god help me.

There is more then one generation of Joker and This generation of Joker was aimed to be a good Protagonist to this generation of Batman. Fear, Chaos and Pain. Chaos to perfectly represent this gen of Joker and that was the goal.
