Alright alright, if we think about it for two seconds, Carl92 did the best thing by not saying anything. If he gave more info about the song and where it came from, we would've found it instantly. Think about it. There would not be any hype around it, the pink boombox would have never been it's iconic face, and christopher would not be remaking the song as I am writing this comment. Yes, it is embarrassing for Carl92 and that was dumb from him to do that, but that was the best thing that could've ever happened to this search. EKT is iconic now. (Sorry for my not so perfect english)

There's still so many lost media songs waiting to be discovered man. Ekt was definitely a journey, but I'm so happy it was found after all this time.

I’m actually quite sad the search for EKT is over, it was always so exciting when new leads would be discovered. Hopefully another song as catchy and mysterious as EKT will pop up so we can search again.

I saw Christopher Booth Saint´s social media and he appears to be very happy about the find, to the point that he is gonna release a new version of the song. That is what makes me the most happy about the Lost Wave community - we give the spotlight to obscure artists/former artists whose work would have fallen forever into obscurity if it wasn´t for the investigative efforts of some terminally online individuals.

It wasn’t until last night, 4/29-30 at midnight, that I saw the song was discovered. I had a stressful day at work and didn’t get home until about midnight, so when I got home, I said goodnight to my family and went to my room to relax for the night. I hadn’t been on RU-vid for more than maybe 5 minutes and had scrolled the front page to see “EKT FOUND” and thought it was some joke, but at the same time I knew it was genuine and I couldn’t believe it. I felt like I was gonna cry, so I clicked on the video, and sat for a second to soak it in. I tend to scroll the comments as I watch videos, and immediately I started laughing at what was reading. It made my night and helped relieve the stress of work. This search was a journey, even though I only stumbled upon it sometime last year. I’m glad the song wasn’t a hoax, and while its source material isn’t anything I’m interested in, I’m glad it was found and I can’t wait for a remastered version. This song is iconic now, and it’s crazy how it went from extremely obscure to insanely popular. I wanna know, where were you guys when it was found? I wanna hear any stories you guys have Edit: Wasn’t expecting to get pinned lol thank you

My theory is Carl92 wanted to find the name of the song without anyone knowing where he heard it; in other words he knew exactly where it was from, uploaded a snippet "he found" (making sure he chose a segment that didn't sound like it came from a... yeah) and then expected someone to answer quickly before anyone would notice where it was from and then delete it before it attracted any more traffic. Unfortunately for him nobody knew that song and thus his fate was sealed. I think this is the reason he went completely dark; basically his plans didn't go according to plan and he was exposed in the process... Again, that's just my theory lol.

I'm a member of that sub Reddit EKT search team. I joined back in November 2023 so was relatively new to it - as someone whose background in lost meda is lost silent film, I really did not have a clue where to start with looking for a lost song. A song where only 17 seconds existed, not the clearest quality, and zero starting point. It's a case of looking at the least obvious place it would be, an adult film. I am very happy "Ulterior Motives" has been identified along with its composers.

Something not many have mentioned yet is that the artist who wrote/sings EKT is also in the credits as one of the actors in the film. He acknowledged it on his social media yesterday, posting a still shot of his character in it, the Bomber.

Since "Everyone Knows That" has been found, you could re-focus on other lostwave. I recommend "The Fallen King," "Light the Lanterns," "Poor Christmas," and of course, "Like the Wind."

I hope the EKT community helps find more lost songs. There are many more out there. Not to mention Like the wind STILL holds it's title and hasn't been officially identified

I agree wiith your conclusion, in my opinion we've only partially found EKT at the moment. Sure, this is a huge discovery about this mystery, and we now have a lot more of information. But as you said, I won't by really satisfied until we find the original studio recording of the song. But we know a lot more about that (yeah... pun intended) so I really hope it will be found soon.

Listening to the song itself again, it definitely makes sense even though I kind of wish I'd watched a little further than the mention of just the video title 😭 It's great to hear it's finally been found though, regardless of... whatever it's from.

This is definitely not the ending to this whole thing I was expecting, if any. I can't really say it's a satisfying conclusion but I do think that there's a small albeit meaningful victory in finding closure. At least now the story has an ending, not all Lost Media hunts get one.
