I remember when this game came out my friend was super hiped, bought all the DLC and was showing off that he got it. When I went to his house and played it, it seemed pretty crappy but I didn't say because I THOUGHT that I hadn't seen its full potential. A little less than a month later, I ask him how it is. He basically said, "what the hell is evolve"

IGN gave Evolve a 9 out of 10? lol, they ripped apart the excellent Alien Isolation, but gave this shallow multiplayer game a 9!? *face palm* Well, I'm glad I did buy Titanfall last year. It taught me never to buy another AAA multiplayer game on release, especially after I saw it go on sale digitally with the season pass for around $20. So, Evolve is a definite pass for me. Great review Angry Joe, I hope you do one for The Order 1886 next!

Between this and The Order and Watch Dogs and Asassin's Creed Unity and so on, I think it's fair to say the AAA industry is a fucking joke

Is anyone else noticing a trend in AAA games lacking more and more content. For example look at Titan Fall, Destiny, and Evolve. To me it seems like the actually content for some of these games is getting shorter and shorter, or is being broken apart to sold later or something

I felt the same way when I played the game. It's just average as fuck. No campaign either means I have no reason to play this shit. I can't believe IGN gave it a 9.

A perfect example of a game not matching its price. If it was a free-to-play game, or a $20 game like Joe said, it totally be worth it. But for $60, no thank you. Its not a horrible game, mind you, but a lot more was needed at release to warrant $60. I even remember a year or so back, this game was free to get on Xbox One as a free game of the month for Xbox Live Gold membership users.

Keep doing this instead of boring let's plays. This is what your fans want Joe!

Like so many others, I bought games like Watch Dogs and Destiny pre-order. Tired of being burned, I wait now for the game review before I buy. Evolve didn't peak my interest when I looked at the game play online. Not surprisingly, IGN and Gameinformer gave it high marks. They also gave Watch Dogs and Destiny higher ratings than you did. I trust your opinion over any other gamer review. If we don't buy these games pre-order, then maybe some of these companies will actually start making decent games. Keep up the great work!

God Damn, so much triple-A stuff coming out lately is some sort of scam, rip-off or just plain broken. No surprise that my Wii U gets far more play than my PS4, lately. At least Nintendo puts out games that are fucking finished when you buy them.

Good to see angry Joe exposing all the main outlets of critics with this game, this game way before release was shoved down our throats. And I'm not saying I agree with angry Joe just because I thought the game suck too, but the fact that I can't rate a f2p type game as a AAA game that has a AAA price tag with over 100$ of dlc on release day. This game would've been a lot better if it was reasonable with its price if it was f2p as the same set up. It was my problem with the order 1886, I loved the game but the publisher has no right to sell a 8-10 hour single player game for 60$ when it should be started off as 40$. Things that would make the game more interesting 1. Single Player A single player mode which tackles the different hunter's story, they alone will be played, no assistance, maybe like an alien version of assassin's creed, either they track down monsters, observe, etc. Single player mode will be an open world scenario, story is based on different characters, that means no repetitive story, for example, Kala, the new DLC support hunter's story will revolve around observing and studying the monsters while fighting her own demons, she can have her own laboratory on the middle of some sort of jungle, for each successful quest means more upgrades for her base 2. New Monster A new monster that revolves around the idea of psionics, this psychic monster's abilities allows it to - control or posses a hunter in a long range - raise a kinetic barrier for added armor - stun all lifeforms in a vicinity with a mental blast - hallucinate makes hunters unable to directly point their weapons at the monster But wait! This monster is stationary , it also does not have any attacks on its own, it's transverse allows it to 'die' and let its spores fly out of the area, it needs to posses wildlife and lure it to the monster, the way it will navigate the area is through astral projection, good luck finding this one 3. Allow a new feature for hunters to enter vehicles Make it look like Jurassic park, allow hunters to utilize vehicles, be it flying or roving, but be warned, this is a double edged sword, if the vehicle is destroyed, then most of the hunters inside will be incapacitated 4. New Expansion Pack Why limit one's self in the ground? Why not the deeps sea or the skies?

When your game has less day one content than Destiny, that's bad. Really bad.

Getting a monster early does not equate to pay to win. Getting a stronger variation of the same monster everyone else has because you bought it, THAT is pay to win. I'm not a blind ignorant fanboy, I just love the gameplay of this game. Let's look at other games that are repetitive and yet successful: League of Legends, Starcraft 2, Left 4 Dead. Seriously, this game is only getting flack because of the DLC stigma fallacy. The moment a game opens up with DLC even cosmetic at that, it get's demonized by the DLC hating game community. But this commits the fallacy of composition; people the bad DLC does not equate to a bad whole of the game! The game is not incomplete simply because they want to add more cosmetic touches. Also, am I the only one who notices how dynamic this game is? Hunters who aren't good at finding a monster need to get good at tracking Monsters who cannot run or hide need to get good at hiding. It's a great game, it's just that it lacks a story with a good narrative. Still, I love the characters and their interactions before they jump to the ground. I also love the way the monster plays. Also, level 3 complaints? Dude, no offense AngryJoe: But you just suck at the game. If you find beating a lvl 3 monster impossible, your assault needs to learn to use his traps, your trapper needs to learn how to run and your medic needs to know how to heal. I think half of you haven't even played the game and just judge it by DLC and throw this brand of evil on it.

Remember Dying Light? That game featured four players vs one monster and it was just a slight part of the game which was 10x bigger than Evolve. Dying light got 6/10...

Its always good when the first 5 minutes of a review tells you everything. A shame too, as Evolve SEEMED interesting. It had no impression on me personally, but I could see why someone would want to play it. But surprise, we seemingly get an even more primitive version of Destiny. Why does the video game industry think screwing your wallet above literally EVERYTHING ELSE is the best option? It does jack shit. Probably would've given it a 4/10, though.

That's why I don't like multiplayer games; if no one plays, you don't play. You rely on other people to have fun.

Now to pin all my hopes on the next game coming out, Bloodborne. I know I can't be disappointed. It's impossible, lol

I have to say, though, that I wished critics & reviewers (like Joe) would stop _sneering_ at other reviews & review scores. "OMG I can't believe the 8's and 9's IGN gave this game! Obviously they're wrong because my opinion is true and theirs is false!!!!!!!" For example: I thought Polygon's review of Last of Us was *very* spot-on and giving it 7.5/10 was more than generous. But when Joe gave it a perfect 10/10, did I bitch about how biased or "blind" he is to the game's flaws? Of course not. Different people have different opinions over what's good about a game. Seriously. Shut up about other people's reviews and scores and just *_focus on your own goddamn review_*. There, I said it.

It's amazing to me seeing how many comments are saying, basically, "Games today are dead!", "Who will save gaming!?", and "Games today are crap!" I just... who are you people? Do you ONLY pay attention to games released by EA, Activision, Ubisoft, and other similarly gigantic publishers? Are you only ever aware of 3-4 games that are released each year? I just don't get it. There are TONS of awesome games released EVERY year, and yet so many people continue to bitch, as if stuff like Evolve, or Assassin's Creed, or whatever the fuck is being complained about at any given moment, are the only games that come out. Widen your horizons. The internet is full of people exposing all sorts of games. If you think there's NOTHING out there, you're just fucking oblivious.

The ideas behind this game had so much potential. The world building (when you get the right hunters together) was very interesting. with the DLC characters there's even more fascinating world building (not worth buying, especially now that they killed the online play and bricked the pc version. just look up youtube videos, namely Caira and Kala and Lennox.) Basilisk soldiers, Lazarus men, Megacorp. named Hub, and much more. bits of the dialogue make this game feel like a tiny piece of a much bigger plot. few bullet points with hunter dialogue: caira and Cabot: Reports of these monsters attacking other worlds. confirming that these monsters weren't on Sheer originally. Caira and Kala: Kala spliced herself with monsters dna to help her understand the monsters. sometimes when she speaks (like when in a downed state) she does not sound like herself. She cracked the genetic code using a formula best known for FTL drives (formula was made up for this game). Caira (forget who else): The eggs aren't actually eggs, they just spawn a monster in a split second in case of emergencies. They are actually energy collectors. something else we haven't seen yet left these "eggs" behind. something is allowing these monsters to spread rapidly. They also appear to be "engineered" not natural. In fact, Kevlar was found in some of their scales, implying they are attempting to adapt to bullets. Plus more: These and more sound like a small piece of a much bigger campaign. One that if a sequel we're likely never going to get takes advantage of all the little details mentioned in these conversations, it could be awesome! sadly, it was squandered by a greedy publisher. (GEE, DOESN'T THAT SOUND FAMILIAR?! almost like its a common occurrence.) Its a shame, the core gameplay was fun, but clearly was not nearly enough. Evac. needed to be a side mode, not the substitute for a campaign. You had a lot of good ideas here Joe. BTW: mistake: you emphasized Bucket's "No one seems to know" and you said "Didn't these idiot colonists notice them. . ." Bucket immediately said after that "They are likely not indigenous (interrupted) to sheer." so, No, they weren't there in the first place so the colonists COULDN'T know. So much wasted potential for this universe. shame what happened to it.
