They also made Faust outright worse. They took away half of his tools for meterless TK Boi hand and that does not make up for the fact Thrust and its now only 2 followups is now a 75 meter forcebreak that barely does 15%.
it's weird that there's not a lot of info online about the EX versions maybe people never bothered since you need to do survival shenanigans to unlock them but they seem like real-ass characters
Time to self-promote. I actually have been comparing the original character and the EX characters on my channel here since they are relatively unknown.
EX Sol and Ky were such awesome move exchanges, I thought it was a really clever idea to give them parts of each others' moveset and reinvent them as new character! But I faintly remember EX A.B.A. being permanently stuck in her berserker mode, except there was an install super that would just turn it up to eleven at a massive health drain rate. But if you knew what you were doing, you could literally Gold Burst into Install into ToD. I really wish EX characters would return eventually in XRD or Strive as alternate versions of characters with playstyles from their previous incarnations.
I would love if they did this for strive as well. Bring back some old moves, make each move op or different in some unique way, and mess with the overdrives. Imagine ride the lighting but going diagonal up. Or Giovann being able to use her dog moves like a puppet. Just make it joyfully broken.
Seeing Chipp like killed me that was amazing. This is why I love the EX characters in GG and unlimited characters in the BB games some rainbow edition stuff right there lol.
People have spent years learning the normal characters and then all the sudden their are more match-ups, frame-data, it would also just the awkward to add only some of them. Ex characters are prototypes and intentionally for fun. Just join an ex tournament.
I'm one of those dudes that never played against humans, cpu only. There was a point I would only fight against the gold and shadow versions for the ultimate challenge. I don't think gold Sol can be beaten though, like his healt recovers over time and when you are comboing him it always stays at 1%, I think you need IK to win against him. Also EX versions are sick, I learned Slayer using his EX first since it's a simplified Slayer and then went with the original. Would be nice to see this back (more balanced of course) but yeah, good stuff will never happen again
Gold sol is a beast but the real monster is either Gold HOS or gold slayer. Gold HOS has super health regen in DI, it heals far much more than regular regen and he spams it alot couple with DI -> sakai that he can spam with 50% tension at will. Gold slayer has both regen and blood succ from any of his attack and as usual gold's attack dmg is whacked I used to play vs gold HOS, slayer and most of all I-no when R+ has no rollback. Sadly that with rollback now I cant select gold in single play like old time, no matter how many time i beat story or survival mode.
@@DuyPham-tp7tu Slayer is definitely one of the harder ones and Johnny (1 hit, you are dead). But as a Dizzy main I couldn't IK Sol and I don't know if my combos did bad dmg but his health never hits 0 unlike HOS, you would had to keep going until time runs out (I used to play with infinite time so that was a problem too lol)
There is little information on the Gold characters. Would be cool to see videos detailing the differences. And let's not forget the Shadow characters that are literally just infinite meter versions
This is only the half of it. Wait till you test out the other game systems with the menu, it's like Grooves, mix and match EX with say, original GG systems, it's a fucking blast. Charge Cancels, baby!
It completely opened the door to a new world of baiken loop, just fun stuff although you lose baiken's godlike special counters and get a shittier version of yozansen
@@LucidButtonMasher Checked. Definitely isn't unlocked by default and according to steam forums they both changed the unlock method so survival has nothing to do with it and controls. Seems to be tied to time/beating story mode only
I do have around 300 hours in it but i really feel like it's not the case with the recent rollback update. Base steam without the rollback may have been the unlocking case
EX characters feel like missing link characters but toned down for acr. ABA is so funny to me because her EX variant is that she's just permanently in moraha mode making her neutral fucking insane and you can just chain into infinite TOD combos because there is no timer to stop you from just completely going on forever, its fucking nuts.
