They drop people off in the wilderness with a small number of survival tools, leave em with their cameras, and then they have to survive until they are too injured to continue, they are too emotionally distressed to continue, or until they are the last person left standing. The show doesn’t end until one person is left! It’s pretty intense. They did do a season of the show where they went in pairs, so some people by default were couples, and it got very intense at points.

I know I'm late but there are a couple survival shows like what you're looking for. "Alone" season 4 has couples dropped in a remote location miles apart. One has to stay put and start building camp while the other has to just... hike and look for them, then continue living in the wilderness as long as possible to beat the other couples. Also "Love in the Wild", where 20 people are dropped in a remote location and paired off. They have to compete in these survival challenges, some fall in love along the way, and the elimination process is fucking confusing. Love Island: Survival Edition basically. I would love to see you cover one of them!

a show kind of similar to what you’re after is hunted, a uk series where people (usually family members, friends, or couples) sign up to pretend to be criminals on the run for like 2 weeks, getting hunted by ex-police and special forces members. it’s not a test of love thing but they have to do some pretty funky shit to survive without being caught by the full force of the law, it’s pretty fun!

so funny as a south african seeing this show and the people speaking afrikaans and understand so funny 😂 and joh these accents i hope i don’t sound like that 😰 i probably do though.
