Its a hell of a lot of money considering you can DIY for about £55 I'm really tempted to buy one just gor a video, to compared, I really can't see how a pad can be worth so much money

I don't think Scuf will be a fan of people like me, they might see my order and cancel thinking 'he'll just end up saying buy an extremerate kit, you'll save loads of money' 😄 I'm not sure if the pads been released in the UK yet, I think it's just the US. Another thing is waiting time, they take like 3 weeks or something to make one! No idea how

Are you drilling the holes and stuff yourself or are you buying the extremerate products and adding more stuff like digital triggers?

Drop them a message on Twitter and explain your mistake, they'll probably just sent you a new ribbon cable

Definitely the rubber ones, much nicer grip, but I'd highly recommend them, don't be me wrong the other type you mentioned like the splashed paint are good but just not as good as the rubber ones. Also I think if say you suffer from sweaty hands the rubber would be another reason

I have a 20.. I had to return my back buttons months ago because they only had them for the 10 at the time. I’m thinking about picking these metal ones up now though.

I find it boring sitting in a corner, with some friends they aren't very good so we just try taking control of a building like Chemical or something. I just wish console had 100 FOV

It depends how sweaty your hands are, my friend has really sweaty hands and his had a slight colour to it

@@CraigsChannel does the rubber become thinner after long use or it is just the same as first time use?

If your plastic k1 and k2 break within the 12 months they'll send you some new ones. They've upgraded the paddles with extra plastic so shouldn't snap, the metal ones won't snap but depends if you want plastic or metal

I've plenty other videos, have a little flick through my other back button videos. When they first released the buttons they only had one ribbon cable, but now have the white one for 010 and 020 👍

The Dpad doesn't work at all? Or just down? That a weird one. I'm guessing you've fitted the ribbon cable the right way and made sure to cut the one which your pad is, either 010 or 020?

Yeah these kits work on both 010 and 020, you just need to have the right ribbon cables cut and fitted

What version pad you using 010 or 020? With your kit did you receive the white ribbon cables you have to cut? Did you double check it was your version you cut. The only other thing is the battery part which you tried, it might not be fully pressed in

If you take your time you'll be fine, I've had thousands of people install the kits with my videos and only a few had issues which were easily fixed, silly things like a ribbon cable being the wrong way

Since this video there's been another model released the BDM-030, so doubt check which version your controller is before ordering anything in case you get the wrong one. But all the kits come with everything you need

@@CraigsChannel you know to be quite frank about the paddles I'm still not happy that it's only two. I'm glad I got the other two working but there is no ease to using them because of the execution I had on the idea. Overall I'm content.

Yes it work with both controller models, as it comes with the newer white ribbon cables that you can either fold or cut with scissors 👍

@@CraigsChannel alright thanks. I had the ps4 controller with paddles, but I just got the ps5 and I was gonna try to play claw instead, but my hands are honestly too small to play claw comfortably so I’m just gonna go with these instead

No unfortunately not, my friend said it works with just one side, but I never tried just one, it's the one on the left hand side so R1 R2, with the long piece you plug into the back that sticks on the battery if that makes sense

And you definitely cut the 010 parts off you didn't need? If you plug the pad into the USB on the PS5 does that work? If not it sounds like something isn't connected, try taking it apart and double checking all the wires/ribbons

What was the issue? Ribbon or cable? Nothing much can go wrong with these pads, so it's never anything serious

@@CraigsChannel The BDM 20 ribbon cable has to be folded over an extra time so I had to reverse it

Did you exit remap mode once you mapped a button?

You could try removing the little button for the remap, like pop the back of the remap kit off, remove that button then push the back, back on, see if it still turns on. The plastic might just be pressing against it

The shell is the same, the only difference is the board. Just pop the back cover off where the paddles go, take the two screws out, swap the plastic paddles for metal and put it back together

@@CraigsChannel ok cool. Well I just got one of the blue ps5 controllers so I was gonna try to remove the the 4 button kit with black shell off of my white controller and put on the new blue one. And then put my 2 paddle metal button kit with the white shell on the white controller . Wish me luck lol

The battery tray? What happened to your original one? I'm guessing at least one screw in the back would fit

@@CraigsChannel I think I lost the screw to hold the tray back in place, I'm trying to fit one of the replacement screws that come with the kit but I don't think there's any that fit

What about one of the 4 screws that hold the pad together? If one of them fit I'd just use it, your pad won't fall apart with 3 screws

It's the ribbon cable people fit wrong, the one for L1/L2, it's an easy mistake and easy fix, just when fitting it, make sure it's in the same was as the original ribbon was fitted which you'll be removing

My favourite combo is 2 paddles back button kit, I find 4 paddles/buttons just to many and end up using two. I prefer the plastic over the metal, but it's a personal preference thing. Also digital triggers if you play CoD or FPS games, you'll need a spare controller if you play other games like say Gran Turismo as the R2 and L2 won't work properly, I've a few pads and always one totally standard

Are you going for the metal or plastic paddles? The video shows you everything you need to do. I only use X and O as back buttons. If you want to use say L3 or R3 as a back button you'll have to solder, but 99% of people want what you said above X and O, so you're good 👍

@@CraigsChannel here is the one I ordered… “Metal Buttons (RMB) Version Rise 2.0 Remap Kit for PS5 Controller with Black Rubberized Grip”. Like you, I only want the paddles to map to O and X, so I can slide and jump with the two back paddles. So if I follow this video step by step, that will allow me to do so?

Yes Sir. My back left is O and right X, so say I'm holding the pad in my hand, my right back finger is for my jump. Not sure if you've had back paddles people? They take a little time getting used to, but once you get the hang you'll never go back. Yeah this video is all you need, if you get stuck at any point I'm always here. Just make sure the L1/L2 ribbon cable is the right way when installing it, that's the only real issue people have came into

It's a common fault, I'm guessing you have a v1 paddle, they've upgraded them 3 times. All you need to do is drop them a message on Twitter, give them your order number and they'll send you two new paddles out dude 👍

Did you buy the back button kit from these guys? If its the same kit do they not offer 12 months warranty?

Double check the L1/L2 ribbon cable, loads of people have been fitting it the wrong way, it's an easy mistake. I fitted a kit the other day and for some reason when I pressed L2 my aim pushed right, so I removed the L1/L2 ribbon and re fitted it, making sure it was fully pressed it and worked

@@CraigsChannel I just took the controller apart, removed all the ribbon, inspected them, and reinstalled. The issue of the paddles not working persists. Also, the controller buttons are now only working on the PlayStation Home Screen. If I enter a game or app all buttons cease to work. I can only exit the game via pressing the home button. This doesn’t make sense

@@CraigsChannel I failed to test the controller before modding it. I’ve since put it back to factory and the issues still persist, where when in a game or application none of the buttons work. The buttons only work on the Home Screen. Going to get another controller and try again.

@@CraigsChannel me again. Got a new controller today and just finished installing all the ribbons. Same result, where the back paddles still don’t work, along with any controller buttons when in-game or an app. Buttons only work on Home Screen. I now suspect that one of the ribbons may be faulty. Have you ever encountered a faulty kit, or heard of people who have?

Yeah works fine, as you aren't messing with the triggers. If you fit digital triggers though you'll have to disable them

I know here in the UK, people who already owned a PS4 got an email offering to buy a PS5, I didn't get the email because I already own one, it's on a one per house hold base. I hope you get one, I wouldn't buy from a scalper who buys them to make more money

No plastic for the 4 buttons, the v1 paddles did snap but since they've released them they've made 3 versions, v3 being the strongest so they shouldn't snap and if they did you get a 12 months warranty 😁

Oh, hmm that's strange! Have you tried opening the pad on just the back piece to see if any part on the back piece has snapped?

@@CraigsChannel yes looks fine I didn’t go any deeper than that. I also tested to see if the O button was the problem but it is not the O button.

@@CraigsChannel I was just tweaking the tightness of the screws on the chip and it seems to help. Maybe it was to tight? It’s getting stuck less now but still a problem. I need my rolls for Elden ring. For it to be acting up now is strange.

I've been using the other grippy one for months and months now, I've still got the original textures one that's kind of like bits of paint that's been splashed on it, but the newer one that's in the video is much more grippy and love it, highly recommend

@@CraigsChannel No not yet, I'm looking at the V2 version with rmb and course texturing since I like the look of that a little better I think.

I've got the RMB, the 2 buttons and RISE4. The 2 button is the one I'm always using, the 4 buttons just seem to many for me to get the hang of 😄 the RMB are really popular but I still prefer the plastic, probably because they're the ones I've spent the most time with. I think which ever you choose though you'll be really happy

@@CraigsChannel yup. I go into mapping mode and set left paddle to square and right to circle then hold power button (for back paddles) till the light turns off and… nothing

What version pad you got? Did you cut the right version on the ribbon cable?

@@Ganta_Gun So you hold the button on the back, the light turns on solid, you hold say K1 and O then it flashes, then you hold the back button until the solid light turns off and nothing happens? Have you tried turning the PS5 on and off

You'll have to do a little bit soldering if you want L3 and R3 to be remappable, its just two drops of solder

You need to solder the piece of ribbon that comes with the kit in order to remap L3 and R3

I've got two of the same comments from you. Was it the digital triggers or back button kit that you fitted, I'm a little unsure 😄 If its the back buttons, it sound like you've not connected something right

@@CraigsChannel hey yes I’m so sorry just worried about my controller I’m talking about the back buttons I’ve re taken part the controller a few times and made sure everything was fitted what I thought was right but since it did work for a little bit I dont think I have done anything wrong

Have you cut the right ribbon cables for your pad like the bits that say either 010 or 020? Did you make sure you've folded the ribbon the right way, a few people have been folding it wrong. Not much can go wrong with these kits, it's normally something simple like something not pushed in right or something. Have you tried plugging your pad in via the USB cable? Just trying to throw as many ideas out there as possible

@@CraigsChannel yes I have cut the correct bits off and as for the folding that could be true I might not have folded it correctly but then how would it if worked for a few seconds at the start if they were not correct?? Idk I’ll try some of the stuff u have suggested and I appreciate the fast reply’s that’s an instant sub from me but let me know if u have anymore ideas that could help

The worst case could be a faulty cable, out of all the thousands of people I've spoken to I've had a few with faulty cables, just maybe 8 or something so it's rare but could happen. Even with a cable wrong the pad will try to turn on but won't work so just turns itself off. Another idea could be get a pin and reset the pad with the tiny hole on the back. Hopefully it's just a simple fix for you, but I understand things can be annoying when they don't work first time, just take your time and don't stress

If you don't want to remap L3 or R3, simply just the symbol buttons like O or X, there's no need for soldering with any back button kit

@@CraigsChannel I've realized partway through installation i have a BDM-030 and the step at 10:25 doesn't exactly work because the piece with 2 holes that slides on to the tiny black bits correctly, it's too small. Do I have to get a different kit or is there a way around this?

I've hardly used the metal ones, I keep going back to the plastic ones, I just love the feel and click of them

Yeah my plastic ones broke, but I had the original ones that weren't very strong, since then they've brought out 3 versions and also the metal ones. Touch wood my v3 plastics have lasted absolutely ages so far and feel as good as when I fitted them

I've got the RISE4 but only use 2 paddles, so for me I'd be more than happy with just the 2.0 Other people have said in the comments they need 4 buttons for certain games, I'm sure somebody mentioned that Demon Souls being one game that benefits from all 4 paddles

It's the first time I've been disappointed regard these kits 😄 I honestly don't know why it didn't work, the cables even say its just got L1 L2 etc, so I really can't figure out why it didn't work! But anyways I opened the kit and fit them. Need to try these metals buttons a little longer as I'm so used to the plastic ones. If people ask which I prefer I'm going to be honest and say the plastic

There was an option to get them separately with only the motherboard and metal buttons. It was only available for like 2 days after they put it on sale. But for some reason they haven’t restocked it.

It’s the piece of ribbon, I never got one with my kit, not sure what to do or if I even need it…I just want to use the back buttons as jump for cod and knife for cod, I don’t get why I have to do all this for some so simple, makes 0 sense

I agree it sucks we have to open controllers to fit back buttons. Sony are brining out a pad with back buttons but I'm dreading to see how expensive it'll be! As for this part your missing, would it be possible to upload a video so I can see exactly what bit you mean. I'll help best I can

I use the plastic version still and no complaints. My friends had his metal one around 9 months, still going strong

@@CraigsChannel it took me like 2-4 hours but my problem was I got to the 20 of and I had a 20 controller was upset but I am restarting again hopefully it works this time

Have you got it working now? Normally if you cut the wrong ribbon you need to get in touch with Extremerate for some new ones

FOV got me so mad. I've no idea why they added it to CW and Vanguard then didn't add it to the new Pacific map! I heard it might come in the future, but what good is that to us console players who want it now!! I heard if you make the lowest KD player the host/party leader it goes on their KD, but I don't think that's true, as my KD is like a 1.8 and end up it super sweaty lobbys even when my friends are 0.7 KD I'm really enjoying the Resurgence mode, but haven't played any BR

Somebody said to put some thin like foam behind the paddles, then somebody else said to put it on the remap board itself so I'm not sure where to put it 😄 If your paddles are rattling, you might want to pop the back cover off holding them and double check the boards in tight

@@CraigsChannel the paddles rattle just alittle bit which is expected, it’s the remap button that really rattled in there lol. I have the metal paddles and the tactile button kit, absolutely love them both, they feel amazing platings game like COD and rocket league.

Have you turned off your trigger effect in the controller menu? Just they can mess with the digital triggers since you'll no longer be using the haptic feedback

Have you got the metal or plastic paddles? Give them a few days or a week to get used to and hopefully you like them! Personally I love them, I struggle to play without paddles now as I'm not independent on them 😄

Yup I know, paddles really should be standard on controller now. I got a comment on my channel last month by somebody saying its cheating having them 😐 And like you say it sucks the analog sticks wear out so easy. Sony are using the same ones from the Dualshock 4, they need to make a newer better version

@@CraigsChannel All analog sticks are the same since PS1, take the missing stick clicks on Nintendo pads (which is actually a good thing) or the 4 pin potentiometers on the dualshock 3 or little things like these.. All working on the same principle (talking standard tilting analog sticks on gamepads, not sliding ones like on portable consoles for ex.) If you do the math by taking the actual analog stick part from Alps or what have you and read the manufacturer's specifications, their life span with moderate controller usage would be about 3 months.. (now, moderate usage is kinda subjective but still.. ) Nope, we're not going to see any improved parts for analog sticks as companies have no incentive in selling less controllers.. we're stuck with them unless they decide to simply change the technology itself (ex. using track pads instead, like the Steam controller.. but, I don't really see that happening) Also because of past failed (improper) implementations we're not going to see a proper trackball replacing the right stick.. (not only that, but nVidia seems to have recently acquired some patents among which a.. well, trackball gamepad.. or at least the trackball implementation on a gamepad.. )

I seen some company come up with some kind of hack for sticks that are drifting, you solder this little board underneath the analogs and it has a two little adjuster you can turn to compensate for the drift. I'm not sure if you've replaced an analog before, but it's a pain in the ass! I've finally found a way to do it just using a soldering irons, as most people don't own a heat gun which makes the job so much easier. I've only ever had to change them on the DS4

@@CraigsChannel Yes, I've seen those boards popping up everywhere recently, but what they're doing is simply shifting the "center" of your current drifting stick.. which in itself would be a perfect fix.. but.. easy doesn't mean without flaws.. that is just another set of potentiometers in parallel with your analog ones where the one you're installing as a "fix" will have a static value and the ones that are originally on the analog stick still function as usually. Two issies here: One - you have a set of parallel fixed value resistors in the circuit now - which will turn your linear stick response curve into a leaner curve and maybe even prevent you from reaching full values at max stick tilt (that will make your aim feel more sluggish as you're approaching the edges - depending on the game that will be felt more or less) Second - the drifting issue can be purely electronic (the value of the wiper on the potentiometer/s can jump at random, case in which the fix is not going to work regardless, but only make your stick's response curve leaner) or it can be purely mechanical, where the phisical stick won't return at dead center or have a lot of play, case in which, again, the center value will vary.. so, again, no stick drift fix) The only case in which I see this small PCB "fix" working is when you have a perfectly functional new analog stick that you've just replaced, thus no stick drift issue to begin with, but the center value of the new potentiometers is different from the old ones (and let's assume here the old ones are fucked and no longer usable) On a controller where these values are assigned since manufacturing and stored in the gamepad's eeprom, simply shifting the center values with such a PCB "fix" would work.. (leaner response curve aside that is) and be the only option.. (well, that or trying to solder the potentiometers at a slight angle (long and painful task, but if the difference is small, with trial and error can be achieved, hopefully without any mechanical.. disadvantages.. ) On a controller where the center is determined dynamically at power up (not sure if there are any of those - I believe most of the stuff nowadays is done in software only, console side.. ) this fix should be irrelevant.. and if you have the random and "wiggly type" stick drift.. it's still irrelevant, as the fix has no dynamic component. For me, I'd take new sticks and keep the old potentiometers if that's an option (actually not touching them when replacing the analog, simply replace the mechanical part - aand.. of course there's an and.. also hope the axles tilting these potentiometers are mechanically at the same exact angle on the new sticks as they were originally on the old ones.. otherwise, it's going to be the loong and tedious trial and error task of solight angle until the center point corresponds with the old setup.. ) I know it's a pain to replace them stupid analogs, but if done right, it's worth the effort. These little fixes.. kinda useless as far as I'm concerned. Pretty much like concave sticks.

I've just thought, who ever is flicking through my comments and comes across this conversation with us two is going to think 'what the hell are these two going on about!' 😄 I've changed the full analog before and just the potentiometers. I've even just popped the little doors open to clean them with cotton buds, or Q tips I believe they call them in the USA with some IPA which worked. It just sucked we have to worry about drift so soon, as you mentioned regular use before drift could be 3 months, which isn't long at all! I spend a good few hours each day on my PS5, but Sony are doing good with replacing pads. The only issue is if you buy a brand new pad, get drift, send it to them, they replace it and you've only got 3 months warranty as standard from them, so you've been robbed of the 12 you should have gotten, if that makes sense!

Honest it's no where as bad as it seems
