I am almost tempted to get this for the integrated lighting system... and the kicktail...and the swap-able parts...and the app that I probably won't use
@@brandonrose8123 Yeah but Inboard M1 is not a budget board. It's quite expensive alone and thinking that you must get spare batteries to get a decent range, yeah it's really expensive.
打你哦宽 lmao hahaha. For those of you who can't read chinese, in the title he wrote Daniel Kwan Reviews in Chinese, but his name is a play on sound that actually reads as "Beat you up Kwan Skateboard"....clever
it's too bad that the trucks are way too wide for a small bord. I'm longing for the day when you get a proper electrical slalom board. Or just a board like with say 120-150mm trucks as 50-degree baseplate. 45degre are downhill degrees nothing that you want a small cruiser.
Finally a review of this board :). Totally agree with you, this is the best shortboard no question. idk why everyone else is still trying to use hubs on their shortboards...
Some of us are hub purists, not too fond of belts snapping and love the free-rolling ability that hub motors give. Road vibration does suck but it depends where you ride and how much flex your deck has.
I'm a little torn. I ordered the Flex yesterday but six months from now when it finally arrives, I'm fearing Exway will release a 2.0 version with swappable batteries and the "party in the rear" lights. I hope Exway releases a direct drive kit. That would be sweeet!
Great review! I was very tenpted to get the Evolve Stoke, but after finding out about the Exway Wave and then seeing this review im sold! Definitely getting one! 🤘
Loved many of your reviews until you just said hubs were a mistake. The belt drive noise isn't good for some people. My Meepo Hubs give tons of torque and power, I'd never regret buying them.
Great video Daniel as always! Some comments on it: I don’t think that the battery is less water resistant if it is fully sealed like other exway batteries. Where is the ESC on this board? Is it integrated to the battery? If that’s the case, it would be more expensive to purchase every new set of battery because the ESC is integrated with it.
I just got my meepo mini and I'm loving it! I was able to get it in 7 days with fast shipping. I don't want to wait 40 days to get a board. But this wave looks sick!
I just lived in Shanghai for 2 years, but never got an electric skateboard while I was there. Do you think Jing'an and Xuhui and good locations for boarding? Any recommendations for good spots? Edit: Ha nevermind! Just recognized you driving by the Kerry Center near Jing'an station - that answers my question lol.
Hi Daniel. Thanks for your video. I was going to go for the hub motors but then, I hear you said " If you bought the hub motors and realised the mistake it was...". Do you believe Belt driven is a better option ? Thanks
I also noticed the comment and was thinking the same... the problem is the maintenance... but Im more inclined to the belts... but I just want to know the specs on hub vs riot to make my final decision ^^
Wear your helmet guys. I fell on Monday on my exway x1 pro, I dont remmeber anything before waking up in the ambulance. Concussion and 7cm laceration in the back of my head, 11 staples! Not sure if i wanna ride anymore because ive been riding my whole life and now i look at the board with fear! i dont know what happened or how i fell, scary stuff,
Dont be a bitch, get back on the board bro. Ive been skating since i was a kid also,if you have never had a hard slam before that makes you reconsider skating then youre just beginning lol one love ✌️
Nice industrial designs, love it. I’m also in Shanghai and use Lou board as my main transportation. Those ridiculous long heavy raining days leaves some scarves on me. Thank god the weather is better so that I can ride it everywhere now.
In America it's so hard to ride Non-all terrain boards because of the terrible roads. But a board like this would be so awesome to have in a nicer country. You have some beautiful pavement there Daniel!
I was planning to get Ranger x2, But now after you review on wave I think it's definitely worth it to wait for exway Atlas because of exway innovations. Thanks man.
Hmm this is or the revel board xr kit(again) for my secondary/cruiser/loaner board. I do like the smart features and integrated lights but also like the flexibility of using almost any board with the revel board kit.
This review is about 4 years old and neither exway or their competition has, feature for feature, put out a product that is as good or better. I did just pick up one of these in 2024 and it has less than 30 miles on it but only charges to 88%
How can they call this a "smart battery" when it doesn`t even know when the board is updating to stop it from constantly switching of while the update is running? Also, is it cheap griptape, or sloppy applying, idk for sure, but the middle part of the griptape is not contacting the board, the griptape is so tightly applied on the edges that one can press it down in the middle. almost like an air bubble, but it is no bubble. Just stretched out griptape... Other than that, and a little wheelpunch it already got from trying it, it is an awesome board. Trucks are tighter now! No more Wheelpunches!
What is the weight of the battery on its own? If carrying a spare battery with you (which I guess is whole point and certainly Exway's USP for this board), it would be handy info to share.. duh! ;-)
Hey, thanks! Your reviews are no doubt next level and I love the detail that goes in to your editing. This one might just be my entry to electric. Thought about a larger one but I think my Tan Tien will have to do for bombing hills ;) Peace!
Why is the hub motor a bad choice? Why do you think belt drive is better? I thought most people find hub motor gives more smooth ride and able to push? Is there any thing that i am missing?
i know this is an old video but maybe someone will respond anyone have any idea where i might be able to find a board rack like what daniel uses to store his boards on at 4:07 ? im looking to get one to store all my boards and skis and that looks perfect but you would not believe how hard it is to find one like it
Hey Daniel, just bought a new flex from exway and used your discount code combined with Ronnie's for a total $40usd off, thanks mate. Your videos are great, informative and fun.
Float like a butterfly , sting like a wave is something I would alwayse say pretending that that it made sense. I disagree with a short boards being a less smooth ride on rough Terrain. What I always do with my regular skate is lift the front wheels and do Microhops and micro lifts over bumps and cracks. to conquer to terrain like that Cobblestone Road you better believe that I'll be hopping so fast that I'm basically levitating;) a over unexpected 1 ft wide potholes I've survived with this technique, shorter boards with tails make this much easier to accomplish. With longer boards that have no tell you can still just do the hop without the hip. Thank you so much for such an amazing badass detailed review! Steady As She Goes.
1:21 Thank you so much for this video, 6ah battery specs confirmed! (I messaged them on facebook and sent emails but got no response after two days; these specific specs aren't listed anywhere on their website...)
What about the Backfire Mini as an Competitor? I ride this Board for half a year and I love it! There are some drawbacks (no protection on the back and the weak brakes in eco) but all in all this is a Great Board. Did you ride it?
is the wave riot drive somehow interchangeable with X1Pro? not need to know if software is compatible with a different kv motor, but just curious to know if possible for this kind of drive train swap for a wider belt option
Quick question (from Canada), I just picked up a Wave and it came with a standard charger. There is a fast charger and a GaN charger for it but I’m not sure which one to pick up to expedite charge time. Do you use either of the new chargers for your board? Which one chargers faster. The websites (Can/US don’t show the charge time for the GaN. Or maybe I didn’t see it 😅.
