Todd Howard debuts Fallout 4 at E3 2015 with a spectacular live demo and other surprise announcement at the Bethesda Showcase at the Dolby Theater - including a November 2015 release date.
Ikr. If I take a tip or two from how he presented this, I'm pretty sure my stage fright wouldn't show through! Just talk to them like you're having a a casual conversation
yeah, comparing to how starfield was presented - this was many times better. It's so good that I can't believe I'm rewatching this right now, and am seeing other really recent comments on this video lmao
Yeah I still come back to this. Best presentation, short time until release, small mobile game to keep people interested, a massive presentation about the game, concept, ideas, gameplay etc. Also, Todd Howard is very good at selling the product. Stark contrasts to what we see as of late.
@@TheMetalfreak360 yeah, and most importantly - I don't think any statement made by Todd in the presentation was a lie (maybe some parts were "over-hyped", but I don't think anything was a flat out "lie"). Basically everything shown in this presentation was there in the game. I know people clip the part where he says "it just works" for the memes, but in the context of what he was saying, the settlement building system did work relatively well with easy snapping and placing down of objects, etc.
girlfriend caught me watching this conference live, she told me I was obsessed with gaming. She said that only one thing could stay my games or her. Man I cannot wait for fallout 4
I was so pumped watching this then as well. Still makes me excited watching it now. I switched to PC so unfortunately I lost everything but I am slowly building my collection back up. I still need this game and new vegas but I have fallout 3, fallout 76, morrowind, oblivion, skyrim, and a few other random games. Nothing gets me more excited than new Bethesda games studios games though. So 76 dlc, starfield, and TES6 hurry up please 🤣🤣. I love their games. Every other developers games feel empty to me. Yes some are fun and entertaining but non compare to BGS games.
I'm playing it for the first time, clocked in 8 hours yesterday it felt like 2 had passed. I'm playing it like I played fallout 3 just exploring with no particular path planned. Im finding it hard to avoid being killed during a gunfight my character is only level 6 not very damage resistant.
Can we just appreciate how they managed to keep this under wraps just to release it 4 months later after the announcement at this E3. That's a very rare occurrence.
Fallout 4 is as awful as cyberpunk. The weapon system and modding is wonky and you can easily make "cheat" weapons.. You guys are praising it way too much while not giving cyberpunk enough credit. What's next? You'll tell me fo76 launch was better too?
@@kenshiku yea definitely. Sony didn't remove fallout 76 from the store... Well actually both games have bugs, game-breaking glitches on their launch but the point of this whole comments are not about those common problems... it's about the RPG system in both games
Bruh I always find myself coming back to this trailer. They revealed it so well. Fallout 4 is like one of the only games I've wanted to consistently play over a span of 6 years. I love this damn game so much man.
@@darkmammoth2232 it’s nice to see I’m not the only one who continues to truly enjoy this game for all the good it brought to the table. My brotherhood of steel sentinel build is always a blast to jump into and fight high level legendary enemies with
Even after getting all the endings, maxing my affinity with basically every companion, getting the best unique weapons, completing endless side quests. I come back to the game for a rush of nostalgia and there is still much to do even after 6 years.
His confidence from the 2008 Fallout 3 demo to Fallout 4 is incredible. 2008 Todd seemed a little timid, closed off, almost self conscious. 2015 Todd is confident exploring his space, knowing he his delivering gold.
Then hubris struck in 2023 because he thought he is the hot thing who cant do wrong and anyone will gobble up his products no matter what. Nobody remembers the interview with Elon Musk where he bragged about his wealth and acted all cringey and tried to suck up to musk like a fatherless 20 year old chick sucks up to a abusive 40 year old
what I appreciate is that they kept quiet for years and revealed the game the year it would come out, THAT'S how you create hype, I'm tired of waiting half a decade for a game, it's better to get surprised all of a sudden
@@deadshot9946 I watch this presentation a couple times per year or so just because of how good it is (and how much I enjoy FO4). Now, with the next gen update coming, I've got another reason to watch through it again lol. Can't wait for the 25th! I'm going to finish up my current playthrough of FO3 so I'll be ready for the 25th.
@@gabrielrendon Fallout 76 is an ESO type game. Bethesda just wanted to have one game of fallout which has online functionalities. However i don't think they would make another online fallout game for another decade or so.
Fallout 76: Whoa this looks cool! Launch day: *uhhhhhh I'm sure they'll patch it* Many months later: Subscription service for features that should be stock...
I started Fallout 3, New Vegas 1,5 month ago, and I cant forgive myself sleeping on these in the past. Started playing Fallout 4 now with some mods and I am a massive fanboy now. I'm even considering to buy a vault boy t-shirt lool.
Ah man. I have been playing 400+ hours but i want to do more with the brotherhood. I want to do battles and stuff, i hope there is or will be a mod that adds some battles.
@@spicyshizz2850 oh yes it did. Fallout in itself is super awesome with power armor and all of the factions in a wasteland with undead ghouls and a bunch of crazy lore behind it but the previous games might have had better story but none of those games made the world come alive like Fallout 4.
Only popular names like Tom or John. Nothing like sir Gary the 4th will be said. Only Gary would be. But yeah I always thought about how they could do it.
"Games can do things nothing else in entertainment can do, they can transport you to new world, they can give u true wonder of discovery and often pride of accomplishing something yourself and it is a BEAUTIFUL thing" - Goosebumps!
+Andre M very next gen you havent been able to do all of this in a single game its showing our disc space is huge now capable of putting even more than before old school with new prowess
SARCASTIC (X) Well, as some people said, in order to enjoy the game you have to approach it in a whole different way. Ignore the story, turn on your radio, do more interesting side quests than the main story, cause mayhem everywhere you go just because, or yeah, play games on the Pipboy.
XXXX was really an amazing year for gaming based on my subjective tastes and nostalgia Every year tons of great games come out Some people will say 2012 was a great year for gaming because the furry hentai game Panthera came out. Who cares
Was, and still is, easily, one of the GREATEST presentations for a game, period. I applaud whoever was in charge for the marketing for this game. Every trailer is hype, Fallout fan or not, and showcase all of the hard improvements made to the series since the previous installment. Possibly the best marketed game of all time.
I remember staying up till like 4am watching the entire Bethesda showcase, seeing Doom, Dishonored....etc. Then they started to show Fallout 4 and when the base building was announced I literally cried on the spot. After everything was shown it eas early 6am, instead of going to sleep I just watched reactions to the showcase on RU-vid because I was too excited....
Man, I know the feeling. In my time zone, the presentation also ended at 6 a.m. There was only 1 hour left to sleep before college. But the energy after the presentation was enough for the whole day. Since then, I have never seen a cooler presentation. And I've never waited so much for another game. Well, except Starfield i guess)
This is why people love bethesda so much. The excitement and wonder of exploration. Starfiekds direct gave me very similar hype and applause. There's just something so special about a bethesda game studios release. Forget whatever the haters and detractors say, I grew up with super nintendo.. to see what we get to do in games like these is a reminder of why I love video games. I also can not wait for starfields collectors edition to arrive at my doorstep! I took off two days to load and play it.. just as I did fallout4
Memories! No shame! I’m watching this in 2020. I got FO4 on the day it released, but not just because I’m excited... ...because my dad worked on the game. 😉
@@zaneaustin22 Been playing on/off since launch and started countless playthroughs amounting to roughly 2k hours. I can safely say that F4 is one of my favorite games of all time. The game has a focus on crafting and settlement building which is optional but you'd be missing out on a decent part of the game. The shooting is serviceable but a big step up from past games. The perk system and factions work well for repeat playthroughs. I could keep going on but if you think it's a game you'll enjoy, go for it. And if you like the base game enough, look into the DLCs.
Man say what you want about Todd Howard, but he had a skill with presenting things. He made this (and every Bethesda game) look like it was the best game ever made.
8 years later, and I still adore this game. I know it’s kinda popular to crap on the game nowadays, and it does have flaws, but I would put it on the same level as Skyrim, Fallout 3 and NV.
Fallout 4 was my first game in the series and man... It's an incredible game. I've been playing it through game pass and has been one of the best games I've ever played in my life.
I have to say that my favorite part of this entire presentation is the showcase of the concept art. It just gives you a sense of wonder. It's nice that they give the concept artists a time to shine as well. You don't see that often.
Discovering the game world for the first time in 2015 was really something incredible. The feeling of exploration was unmatched, ultimate open-world experience.
@@hippokrates4494 Bruh, I have been a fallout fan for the majority of my life. Actually getting a new fallout game was absolutely insane when it was announced. Also, literally nothing wrong with showing emotion as a guy. Crying doesn't have to be balling your eyes out, you can shed a tear when something is very powerful emotionally which this was. Men are way more likely to commit suicide because they feel like they can't express emotions dude, so it's pretty harmful to spread this kinda crap around.
this was the most sobering game in the series. this is when i really knew the franchise was a shadow of it's former self. NV gave me hope but 4 dashed it to smithereens.
Not a bad idea, maybe follow like 3 characters to get different views and stuff, like a vault dweller, someone from a faction like idk brotherhood of steel and like some wasteland character like a ghoul, maybe have him be like a cowboy. I mean im just spit balling some ideas, but if theyd do something kinda like that it be solid TV show.
I was in basic training when this came out, sneaking my phone off to watch E3 haha. Been a fan since Fallout 3, great to come back and reminisce! War never changes!
This was the first game I bought for the PS4 . The literal reason why I bought the system . This was my first fallout game too. I have never played a game the way I played this one and I have purchased this game 3 times lol . Forever will have a special place in my heart .
the music is really amazing. also "reveals" are fun to rewatch later lol. this was also the best reveal of fallout they ever did. However its kinda wierd that they show endgame spoilers rofl
@@opscav5062 Fallout 4 has always been considered the weakest "Fallout" game by the FO community, its the weakest in terms of writing and RPG elements, as its been said a thousand times already "Fallout 4 is a good game just not a good fallout game" its a solid game in its own right, but when you consider it a Fallout game, it doesnt stand up to its predecessors, most noteably Fallout New Vegas, mainly due to FO4 sharing the same writer as FO3 (Another FO game considered weak in the writing department). The game lets itself down in so many traditionally prioritized areas due to the design philosophy of prioritizing the gun play of the game, another major pit fall of FO4 was the decision to go with a voice protaganist with their own pre-established backstory, removing any possibility of roleplaying and creating your own head canon, even the writer of Fallout 4 has been quoted as making many strong counter arguments to his own idea of giving the game a voice protaganist. I mean the Voice lines for the two main protaganists (Male and Female) is reportedly 40% of ALL dialogue in the whole game. Their design philosophy of stricly having 4 responses to every dialogue to fit with the four buttons of a controller was incredibly limiting to the writing of dialogue because it went there either wasnt enough reponses, or there were too many, there were alot of instances where the response would often only have called for a simple true or false, but had to be filled out with irrelevant options to ensure the 4 repsonses criteria was met due to it being hardcoded into the game.
Even after the 2024 Free Upgrade, I'm still here loving this press conference, while admittedly testing my patience against a port-a-diner in Medford Memorial Hospital. I do believe this is the best presentation E3 ever had.
Can't believe I got to watch this live. I don't even pay much attention to reveals like this, but glad I decided to sit down and watch this one as it happened. I was 14 years old
It hadn't occurred to me before that Bethesda had made a launch presentation about Fallout 4; I'd just never thought about it. Typed it into youtube and I was not disappointed haha. What a legend. Seeing him go through all these new features was really cool and seeing (hearing) the audience absolutely lose their minds was fantastic.
Say what you will about Bethesda now, or even Todd Howard, but this was a Steve Jobs level presentation. Todd, love him or hate him, is a man full of charisma, he was born to do this. This presentation was legendary, and while it might surpass the game itself, I still think Todd needs to be commended for this show.
