Happy Thursday Everyone! Today's video comes requested by subscriber: @FactsCountdown and covers the topic of parents who have or continuously try to force their children to give them grandchildren.
I had my stepdad ask me for grandkids and he had made jokes about it. It bothered me to the point where I saw him down and told him why I decided to be child free. It would be stupid to have kids because somebody else wanted grandkids to play with a few times a year and I’m stuck with them 24/7!!!
When people say “Well, what if your child is the next president, cures some aweful disease or brings world peace?”, I just say “And what if the kid is next Hitler or Stalin?” and watch them scramble to come up with a response.
Well, mom, what if I AM the one who cures diseases, what if I AM the next president? And sans children I am closer to it bcs I can spend more time on my research and learning and what not. Also, if I had those children, would you pester THEM to have children so that the little ones can cure diseases and be presidents? Are we just reproducing so that the next generation makes things alright instead of doing sth now?
When I was 19 and in a very bad situation, my own father "joked" about sabotaguing my birth control pills. Now instead of gaining a grandchild he lost a daughter. Just because they're your (adult) child doesn't excuse being a ghoul to them.
Even if the cost of living was cheap having kids is still evil you don't care about them if you force them into existence knowing what they're going to go, kids will make you suffer and age faster gain weight gain misery but they will suffer too
My mum did not want to be a grandmother for many years, she was even saying she was still too young. Then, suddenly, when her friends started having grandchildren, she wanted to have some too and kept on asking me when I would GIVE her grandkids...
Parents are never entitled to grandkids you are an awesome person patents automatically think they are entitled love you're videos there are way too many humans in an overcrowed world i love and respect the childfree movement
This kind of video makes me thankful. Nobody in mine or my girlfriend's family has done more than ask if we're planning on having kids - no. They don't get a vote, and they know they don't get a vote. Pressuring someone to have kids is flatly unacceptable, and I'd be pretty direct in reminding anyone who tried that they don't get a vote, without trying to be polite about it. Ridiculous that it even has to be discussed.
Adult children do not owe their parents grandchildren it's so wrong to me not everyone wants to have kids parents need to just accept that the late Raquel Welch wanted to be a grandmother but neither of her kids wanted children of their own she accepted that over time
Funny story: My grandmother used to bingo me quite often about having kids. Especially after my older sister had kids. Her tune changed the day I tried to cook lunch. It was so bad, she said it's a good thing I'm not having kids. She never bingoed me again.
Honestly, not everyone's equipped for kids. I'm financially okay, I could care for a child. But my mental stability is on the ropes right now. I wouldn't want to give my kid trauma if I had one.
My mother would say she wanted to be the cool grandma that gave them presents and hung out with them once a month or so as long as we lived nearby. I'm sorry but why would I live in a place with few job opportunities and make huge life-altering decisions just so you can think you're cool?
I'm 24 and I'm already getting the grandkid requests and i usually tell them that i will not be having kids but if they cant pestering then i ignore them and they quickly stop bc they realize they are talking to themselves since im not responding.
