I don't see any reason you should be embarrassed about anything. You have something you love doing and you work hard to do it. Your intense geek out about the hobby is what makes your channel good.

I'm very glad you see it that way, and don't take it for some sort of strange brag session. I, like you said, geek out on this stuff pretty wildly, and love doing it! Just don't want to rub it in anyone's face. Thanks Andy!

First, you’re a lucky man, to have a lady that is really supportive of the hobby. Second. It’s cool that you show people that you and your family is about as typical as any hard working families out there with clutters in their house. 👍. Thirdly. Damn! All those airplanes all over the place!! 😂😂😂

Brian I used a pvc cutter that can easily cut up to 2 inch diameter pvc pipe. It is ratcheted to make it easy to use as it cuts. Big benefits include no pvc crumbs and associated mess; less waste; less noise; costs way less ($12) than a chop saw; and takes less total time since you don’t have as much cleanup. Congrats on getting your hangar organized and making it easier to store your airplanes. Great job on demonstrating how to build pvc stands. I built pvc racks to mount on the garage walls since I don’t have the floor space in the garage. Thanks for making your videos. Always informative and entertaining!

Your fleet has grown exponentially since your last video on your inventory. You might wanna consider building a warehouse type hangar in your backyard. Your channel popularity doesn’t look like it’s slowing down anytime soon. Not surprisingly as you give out awesome videos! Glad to have great content creators like yourself! Keep up the good work bro! 👍👍👍👏👏👏👏

You do have a challenge for sure. I found by removing the wings, I can better manage my available space. Racks on the wall for fuselage, and I built a rack with pegs on a section of the wall, BUT, on hinges so I can stack winge (20) and lift the rack to the ceiling, out of the way and lots of head clearance. Works GREAT. For the aircrafts where you can't or won't remove wings, that is another challenge. (rafters)

pro tip: buy some pipe insulation to give the wings a little extra cushion on heavier models
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 6 месяцев назад
yes, we've heard this, and I've done it too, but I can say that "sticker" style is PRICY!!!!!! And it does make the gaps smaller, so if you're not storing BIGGER planes, I suggest you get some weather strip - WAAAAAY cheaper ;) You know, the 1" X 0.25" or some such size...just pull the adhesive backing and you can apply a 10-15" stip, and you'll get the same, or similar results. I just need to figure a way to make them more solid...glue would help, but at the moment, I really just need them TALLER...we have high ceilings, and I need to take advantage.
@stevendegiorgio3143

The foam pipe insulation works great for protecting the surface of the wings.But you need a ton of that stuff.
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 11 месяцев назад
yes, but I've found that unless it real heavy, there's not any damage. My issue is that these racks do tend to bend and sway a bit more than I'd like to admit.

Just as long as the bills are paid, food on the table, roof over your heads and clothes on your back, keep doing what you’re doing! Like this - www.archbuildings.com/blog/product/20x58-steel-arch-farming-storage-building/ That would be cool, but we want to get a real plane inside...I don't know how we would do a door broadside on that type of building? Also, I want it to be 20ft sidewalls, or possible 16 foot, with the door on the wide side, which would be unusual, and probably requiring a steel span AKA way more money. We haven't even 100% settled on our building side, but we DO now have two 40' HQ (9.5' Tall) containers with doors on both ends. They have been instrumental in helping us clear out some space in our basement for the installation of our backup batteries, which will be happening not next week, but the following week, if all goes to plan. Once this is done, we have plans to finish the living quarters side of the basement, then get the shop setup in a more permanent fashion. Once this is done, we should be working out the "bugs" on where exactly the "dam gift shop" will sit...since we'll need to build that pad too. It's been a lot of work, and we're really only just starting, so can't wait to get this all behind us, so we can be using it all! It's gonna be an epic journey, and hope you'll be following along ;)

The chop saw may be a little quicker, but it's louder with a lot more mess. I use a purpose built pvc cutting tool that's relatively simple to use and cheap, and it's worked out pretty well for my storage needs.

@barrywilson1842

I'm a Patreon. Brian, I made these PVC stands a couple of years ago but out of bigger diameter pvc. And I put wheels on them to move them around easier. Huge advice! Run wooden dowels down through the inside of the pvc. Locks everything all together, makes them 10 times stronger. If you don't then the stands will slowly lean over and then fall with everything on them. Unless you run fishing line from the ceiling or similar to hold them upright. The dowels make them more mobile. And cut pieces with a pipe cutter and you won't have any mess.

A PVC cutting hand tool is no dust and no material wasted and nearly as fast as the chop saw. Lightly chamfer the outer edges with a utility knife or sandpaper. If there is no intention to use adhesive then a light coating of grease of some sort would allow rapid disassembly. I would go a step further and glue the horizontal supports to the tees. Makes it easier to twist that section off the vertical supports. Could even heat the horizontal leg a little after assembly and bend it slightly upwards to provide a little security from bumps and wind or whatever.

Anchor the top of the PVC pipe rack to the ceiling with a hook in the ceiling and paracord from hook to top of rack. No more wobble. Also, I too use the PVC pipe hand cutters to cut pipe, absolutely no mess whatsoever. I just built a rack to haul a number of planes in my sport utility to the airfield.

Always love watching this one from time to time. I built a couple of these shelves after first watching this video. And i also use PVC for my for my pistol target frames. Last month, I ended up replacing them with RC aircraft shelves from Flying Tiger RC. The curse of being OCD. 🙃

👍👍 end the mess for sure with a pvc cutter by hand as mentioned. Just be sure to wear gloves to protect from blisters. Love the vids...

that was a great watch Brian and Meagan and i don't ever recall coming to watch one of the many great videos you have and not taken something positive away from it so big thanks and hats off to you both and any profits/royalty's and products you may reap as a result has always been well and truly deserved and earned in my honest opinion as theirs a lot of hours of building/setup/advice and so on being put into all of your videos so i just hope that you guys will continue your journey for as long as you have the space to do so and im sure you could always raffle or sell some older stock off and clear room for new and you beaut items to come in the future , thanks again for the lesson on to build a wing and planes stand as i do think ill be building at least one for my Garage and my little plane collection 0f about 14 , any ideas on how to store over 100 new in box rc car kits and 50 RTR cars/trucks/buggies/crawlers/touring etc etc - Tamiya/Kyosho/AArma/Traxxas/Losi/redcat and so on and so forth i would be very interested

I used PVC to make a carrier like yours to move planes to the RC Field when we had the family van. Once we moved to a house with a park in front yard and water feature in back, it hangs in garage as a four plane carrier (I only do park flyers or water planes now to keep it simple).

AWESOME! We had three ponds at our old home and it was nice...then a HUGE pond at the community college we frequented for most of our filming. I now miss that option. We need a pond again!

Omg Brian, has anyone ever told you that you might have a problem maybe you should seek some help on? That's an insane amount of plane's buddy! I'm envious for sure. Love the plane rack idea!

Totally! I love doing this, but it's lead to some unforeseen consequences, as any other success might also bring along for the ride ;) Flying almost every new RC plane that comes out is an amazing privileged and honor, and I love it, but at the end of the day, they still exist in time and space and must be stored ;) Queue BrianPhillipsHoarder - LOL!
