No joke, I've become a pretty damn good cook because of chef John and his outstanding videos. I appreciate him and his channel and videos. Thanks Chef 😊
I taught myself to be a good cook but chef John came along and I continue to improve. However Jacques Pepin is miles ahead of Chef John in teaching people how to cook.
@@Kingfisher1215 Don't forget Julia Childes.... I learned a lot from watching her as well. Jacques and Julia are another level when it comes to cooking. Pioneers of TV cooking programming.
Finally! Someone making creamed spinach with cream! I can always taste the flour when it's made with a roux and it tastes flat. My grandmother taught my Mom and they taught me to make it with cream. I loved this even as a kid (what kid likes spinach? Me!)! They used onion but I always use shallot like Chef John (my new kitchen guru!). My technique is a bit different and I've never used lemon zest or a clove but I'm definitely going to try it. You won me over, Chef John. New fan, new subscriber. Thank you!!
OMG! IT’s baseball season-Spring Training in Florida’23 and I have made them 3 times in 3 weeks! I had leftover prime rib and then beef tenderloin, which took them to a whole new level! Thank you! Thank You! Thank you! Love Love your Wings as Well!!❤😊
I've literally made this recipe once a week for about two years now .... a perfectly cooked steak (medium rare ofc) and wack a good load of this creamed spinach on top is just HEAVEN. I'm not as keen on the other (traditional) creamed spinach recipe that Chef John does where you make a roux .... I think this simple one is just way better and far less hassle too!
I have always loved the way Chef John says "Enjoy" at the end of his videos. You can tell he is really a happy person....... "ENJOY!!! Chef John"..."ENJOY!!" :O)
Love your recipe John! I do the same thing with rapini. I drop the rapini into salted and boiling water, stir for around 5-6 minutes, drain in colander for around 30 minutes, then sauté good fats, with minced shallots, anchovy, butter, avocado oil, sauté until savory and then add the rapini and stir for a couple of minutes. It’s really great cold the next day, inside a baguette sandwich, maybe add some prosciutto and grated mozzarella. You can put it in the salamander.👨🏻🍳
Chef, as a consistent viewer I must say that you do have videos post in the late hours considering California time. I was thinking the top comments were crazy but you do tease the lively crowd with amazing sustenance!!
I made this spinach cream side dish today. It turned out really good. I only wish I knew how much seasoning i really needed to put. It kinda taste spicy to me. I'll try it again. I hope it comes out even better next time. Thank you for the recipes!
i just ate this yesterday in Rays Steaks House fell in love with it and the come mister Master John to save me the time of looking it up and hand it over so i can try it. best channel ive ever subscribe :)
We are having a guest over for dinner tonight, a foodie friend who I know loves steak. Back when I lived in NYC, we used to go out to restaurants together at least once a week. I'll be making, along with a steak my husband is grilling, this creamed spinach and the fondant potatoes. Everyone loves the fondant potatoes. I don't know why those went out of fashion.
When Chef John mentioned 'C.R.E.A.M / C(ash) R(ules) E(verything) A(round) M(e)'....... I knew I had to step out of my home with my t-shirt that says the exact thing! Not only is Chef John a great chef... He also has you styling yourself for the day lol!
I don't add cheese at the end but I have topped with lightly toasted slivered almonds (toast in a dry skillet, watch like a hawk!). Lightly toasted almonds are the bacon of the nut world to me! Good on everything!
Excellent recipe, great consistency, love the emphasis on getting every bit of water out of the spinach before putting it in the sauce. Perhaps because I had salted my steak and also the fried potatoes, I found the creamed spinach too salty and will adjust the recipe next time. Great spinach!
I dislike the taste of spinach, and never plan on making this recipe, but I watched the video anyway because I love the soothing vibrations of chef John's vocal chords. This man is truly a legend.
