For me … It’s more about the addiction to food than hunger. It’s not like smoking or drinking … you don’t need that to live . It’s tough when you have a food addiction .

I did ADF and lost 62 pounds between October 2023 and March 2024. I strength train and gained a ton of muscle. Totally reshaped my body and life. I only fast a total of 3 days each but spaced every other day Sunday to Thursday.

Research now suggests that most people lose muscle when fasting. Did you really gain muscle or just strength (which is different). If you gained muscle, do you think it was due to your alternate day fasting technique as opposed to longer fasts. Guy with channel above is impressive but I worry he must have lost a ton of muscle. I've lost 32 lbs since January 1st 2024. That's been with 800 to 1300 cals / day and walking a lot and muscle workouts. I've not lost muscle but not really put much on. I'd like to retry fasting again but I dont want to lose any muscle. Would be interested to hear your take on all this.

Multiple day fasting is best for people who wants to lose weight and not looking to gain muscle. In other words if you’re looking to be thin. ADF is better for losing fat but keeping/growing muscle. ( When you fast your body enters ketosis and starts to burn fat 1st and some muscle as fuel.). When you Multiple day fast you lose a ton of muscle along with fat but with ADF you’re burning most fat and maintain muscle mass. The key is also lifting heavy and HIIT workouts/cardio along with the fast. Lifting builds the muscles and HIIT gaves you that athletic build.

Two last questions if you have time/feeling generous: 1.On your eating days are you eating to maintenance level, slight surplus or slight deficit. 2.Have you noticed any significant lowering / crashing of your resting metabolic rate using your ADF system? Congrats on NOT drinking your Pop 😊 and hitting 137 lbs. I have been extending my fast everyday. Today I fasted for 24 hours and ate within a one hour window. Tomorrow I think I will be able to go to the next day. I’m just trying to ease into it. I want my body to get used to the longer fasted state, and to be honest I really wasn’t hungry tonight it was ALL MENTAL.

I am doing 4 day rolling fast since February12th. I am down 30 pounds as of today March 27. My refeed is all day and includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner what ever I want then back to the 4 day rolling fast. I wish I came across you pre-covid before I tried fasting. I did a 11 day water fast back then and it sucked.. Life happened, couple of moves and Feb 12th I saw your video and said, I did 11 days before I can do 4 and here I am getting it done finishing my 9th 4 day cycle.

@@AirshiaTV gosh, how do you break your fasts? I broke an 89 hour fast yesterday and was in the bathroom the rest of the day and even into early morning. :( I need to be able to fast but I can't have explosive diarrhea for 12 hours after. 😔

@@a.humphries8678 I haven’t had a 12 hr diarrhea unless I drink pooping tea. Today I had 4 pcs toast with butter n jelly, 3 scrambled eggs, 1/4 cup of grits with butter and sugar and 2 pcs of ham. It did push down some poop but not hours of diarrhea. Maybe you need to add more fiber to slow down the digestion. I just had chili cheese fries and spaghetti and it’s been an hour and I haven’t had to go to the bathroom yet. Add things that takes your stomach time to digest. Also, see if you drink after eating and not while that the water won’t contribute to the speed of the digestion.

I initially started IF in November 2022 and have extended the windows ever since. Went to OMAD for a period in time then onto ADF. Have found that I actually enjoy the longer fasts so I structure this around my work week and release a larger window over the weekends. This is ideal as I can eat with my family and friends. The fasting window starts on Sunday night and runs through to Wednesday morning then a 4-5 hour feeding window. Repeat from Wednesday afternoon to Saturday lunchtime then an overnight fast to Sunday afternoon. This has increased my weight loss and helped me reach my goal in March and I’m still doing this for now. Hunger periods do set in however nothing a glass or two of water can’t fix. My starting weighing back in 2022 was 146Kgs and I’m now 88Kgs in April 2024.

I’ve been fasting since March 11th, starting with a 133 hour fast and then 94-96 hour fasts thereafter. My refeeding window is around 90 minutes to 2 hours. I’m drinking black coffee with a little Stevia which doesn’t break the fast, sugar free electrolytes in water and some sparkling water to jazz it up a bit. I’m also tracking some basic health metrics: •Pulse ox - 98-99%. •Blood pressure - a little high but showing a downward trend. • Blood glucose - down from an alarming 21.5 to 5.0 mmol/l. The blood glucose is a bit lower than it should be, but there are no ill effects and it’ll go back up when I eat again. For a T2 diabetic, it’s a good trend! I’m genuinely feeling great and while I do feel very hungry on occasion, it passes. I just try to focus on my 41 kg total loss goal and remain busy. So far I’m down 9kg, which is a lot and will realistically comprise a fair amount of water. I need to stay the course to make this change!

@@9715Yes, I have a 2 course meal consisting of a ridiculously huge salad bowl first with lettuce, onions, peppers, tomatoes and a little grated Vegan cheese. Second course will have some carbs in the shape of some potatoes, or a little rice. There will be vegetables such as cauliflower, broccoli or green beans, and either lentils or beans (pinto/borlotti/cannellini/black eye). I’m very generous with the veg to get that satiated feeling. I’ll allow myself a mini Vegan chocolate bar as dessert. It’s really small at 35g 😂 I could drop it if I felt it necessary, but I look on it as positive reinforcement.

Hey@scottburden2785 That's exactly what I'm doing. I'm on day 45 of a water fast. Did 75 days back in 2019 and lost 84.6 pounds. So far I'm down about 60 pounds. The electrolytes are important, green tea burns fat and I put pink Himalayan salt in it as well.

You must be counting months as 4 weeks, because officially, you’ve been fasting for 4 months and 3 weeks, so you won’t hit the 5 month mark until April 5. BTW - you’re right about just being with the hunger and feeling it. It will get to the point, if you do it enough, that you won’t feel any hunger at all. Dr. David Hawkins teaches this method in his book, “Healing and Recovery.” I have gotten to that point. I don’t feel hunger physically. For me, it’s all mental.

Wow🎉Jerome you rock! I have lost 9ib since i started march 1st 2024. I started very aggressively with a 120 hours fast. I stopped because my glucose went down to 40 and i was having severe symptoms. I am presently on my 40th hour of my current 120 hours fast. Drinking water and black coffee. I am prediabetic and trying to bring down my weight from 241 to 150. I am hoping to reach my goal in a year. It may be sooner. I am so encouraged by your testimonies of weight loss. Want to encourage everyone who has not started to jump into it. I feel more energetic as the hours go by.

You've inspired me to try rolling fasts. I've been in a stall and been wanting to try longer fasts to get over the hump. This week I'm doing 24 hour fasts (OMAD), next week I'll try 45 hr fasts with a 3 hr refeed and the week after I'll try to step up to 65ish hours. I don't think I want to go past 65-72 hrs right now. I've done a 72 hr fast before and it felt really good, but I don't want to push further until I've done a few consecutive 65-72 hr fasts.

Wow! You have amazing discipline! You will like eating less carbs because it will make things easier, including gaining muscle weight. Don’t cut out all carbs, but definitely cut out processed crap.

Carnivore diet. You’ll lose the weight, retain more muscle, actually break your food addictions and it’s far more sustainable. This is coming from someone who has lost 50 pounds via prolonged fasting. Gained it back and lost it again on Carnivore. I feel so much better, don’t track calories and muscle tone is superior this time around.

I agree it is the brain. I’m on a 40-day fast started Mar 31st it was harder day 2 and 3. It’s motivating I started at 276.8 now day 16 I’m at 251.4. It’s the best feeling in the world. I cook dinner for my girls and I don’t taste the food it’s smell so good but it passes. I went to a fair I wanted everything my hunger pangs kicking in high gear I ignored it but always get nauseous from all the food smells that bombards my sensory at once. I tell my body remember when it’s the same food that caused your obesity. And I did not regret it. Fasting my inflammation decreased off blood pressure pills bc it dropped too low. I wasn’t new to fasting but this 40 day fast I plugged right away bc it was either gonna lay in bed with back pain eating into depression or loosing weight to help my pain and be mobile. If you read this YOU GOT THIS… in the end it’s all worth it.

Incroyable!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I have been writing out specific things to do each day to distract myself while fasting and it's been working, sometimes I'll look up and it's time to do something else or head for bed. I will continue to work on accepting the reality of the uncomfortableness of fasting and to be OK with that.🙏🏽 Later, brother👍🏾

I hate black coffee and I don’t want to explain to my coworkers why I’m not eating lunch, I also struggle with late night cravings. I’ve never gotten past a 20 hour fast 😢

I also struggle with night Cravings, I’m doing the egg diet, with the OMAD diet, and I eat my 1 meal a day at 8 PM, because I know if I eat during the day I will have to eat at night and break my fast, I also do not like black coffee, so I have been drinking chai tea, the egg diet suggests green tea, today is the 3rd day and I’ve lost 3.8 lbs so far.

The last time I was fasting it was over potluck at my church. I had to have a few conversations about why I was not eating but not that many. They next time I was fasting at potluck, less people asked me why I wasn't eating. Most people aren't too nosy and will let you be. I've also learned to watch how skinny people stay skinny. They keep busy with tasks that need to be done like setting out the food and starting on the dishes. Sometimes after everyone else has a plate, they will then go though the line but they don't have to eat much if at all because by then there are things to do like the cleanup. I personally gained my losses back and so I'm starting from scratch again. 🤦🏼‍♀️. This time I think I might be a bit better equipped to embrace the process.

Sugar is 50%fructose and 50%glucose,High fructose corn syrup which is in sodas has about 55%fructose and 45%glucose Glucose can be metabolized by every cell in your body.Fructose can on be metabolized by the liver and you can develop a( NAFLD)Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease which is basically like cerrosis of the liver like Alcoholic get after drinking long enough. Drinking soda can cause you to develop visceral fat around you organs just like alcohol and can make you get a beer belly.Alot of people don't realize even drinks that you would consider healthy like orange juice or apple juice is and does the exact same thing the only difference is that one will get you drunk and the others won't. So quitting soda is the best decision you can make regarding your health.

Yes. Your metabolism takes time in adjusting, whether that is slowing down or speeding up. You will need to slowly build up your calories. add 200 calories after each month. That’s the safest way to readjust your metabolism.

Thanks for the firm reminder. I just come of my first 72 hour fast. I’m rolling on to a 48 hour now because I really struggled with a 72. I’m a F 32 with prediabetes and had a baby 2 years ago. For me, I can feel my hormones starting to self regulate so it’s been hard. (Mood swings,acne, yeast infections tmi soz) But, I’ve lost 26lbs in under 4 weeks and I’m at my half way mark. I’ll try the 94h fast when I pluck up the courage. I feel like not many women talk about experiencing the ‘side effects’ whilst doing these fasts. Can someone please tell me of someone who does? Well done to you I hope your maintenance journey is successful and you can enjoy all your hard work ❤

Congrats on the lifestyle change and adding further proof to the notion that it comes down to discipline and habits. The so-called "experts" and other "influencers" pushing things like ozempic will have us believe that obesity is genetic and that we have no control over our body weight. Completely false. Fasting is great not only for weight loss, but for overall health through autophagy and boosting our immune system. It is not necessary to be shoving food into our gullets all day. We eat more out of habit or for comfort than for nourishment. Keep up the great work.

Great reminder Jerome! I am learning to embrace the hunger. It always goes away in a little while. I definitely notice much stronger hunger if I include carbs in my eating window.

Hi, I have to disagree with the comment that if you refeed with only clean food the next day hunger pangs will be easier, they are not they are worst. I refed after a 90 hour fast with clean food no carbs or sugar the next day was the worst day ever, hangry irritable irrational and burst into tears, I had to refeed again for 2 hours, I ate bread and sweet stuff with mince and veg, next day no issues no hunger pangs. This is what happened to me, healthy food like veg and fruit absolutely screws me up.

I've loss 110 lbs between keto/carnivore and fasting. Maintain the weight for about year. My normal regimen is between omad and 16/8 two meals sometimes. Currently fasting for holy week, really enjoying, drinking plenty of electrolites. Just made a minor tweak yesterday, ate a bar butter to boost ketones and yup it went from .4 to 1.4 at the evening. One more boost planning to do this morning. You are looking great man.

I did a 21 day water only fast last year. I find that doing sorter fasts over and over is the hard part. its like once I start eating I dont wanna stop again...

I've tried a 96hr fast and when I broke the fast, the pain and hours on the toilet. So my question is will this always happen during a re-feed?

It depends on what you eat during your refeed. The first time I broke a 5 day fast I went straight into eating nonsense and I had massive breakouts plus stomach upset. So I'd advice to start with fruits or bone broth and lean into it

Will you speed up fat loss but lose muscle if you fast 2 days a week and eat small meals rest of the week in a defecit? Keep up the good work i sometimes get discouraged but always watch your videos to keep me motivated

You should really look into Dr Neal Barnard And John Mcdougalls work. The diet they teach is focused around plant based nutrition not saying you gotta go vegan but they have a lot of insight on healthy eating and i have been practicing what they teach for a long while and have stayed lean and trim effortlessly eating good food

started to fast did 5 days then omad for 3 days then 5 theb directly which is now 7 days fast and yes if u cut carbs and clean refeedibg u wont feel hungry just hr blood sugar drops and have salt and water to replenish ur minerals anyway thabks fkr the motivitatiob jm simpky scared to ruin my metabolisim if i stay 5 months consecutive 7 days fast which is 4 meals in a mknth( 1 hr max each meal)

Man it’s ridiculous yesterday I did a fast ate the day before dinner night. Light dinner. So I decided to do the fast by end of night I was feeling so uncomfortable and no I’m the night if I don’t eat something. I won’t have a good sleep. So I ate something very light. And woke up and lost 3 pounds. God is good. So I rather try that to lose weight.😊
