That first story reminded me of this incident that happened to me - I had been out drinking on my own one night in Manchester, England. Whilst on my way to get a taxi, I bumped into a friend who said he’d give me a lift home to save me the £15 taxi fare. I hopped in the passenger seat and we set off. When we got on the main road out of the City, he starts to put his foot down, and I ask him to slow down a bit - I’m not in a rush to get home ! He ignores me and carries on before the police start to follow and he gets pulled over. I wait in the car wondering what’s going to happen now as he is asked to join the policeman in his car. After about 10 minutes - it seemed longer - the policeman comes up to me and I started to say I haven’t done anything wrong. He said I was ok but that my friend was over the drink drive limit by about 3 times and had been arrested ! The car was going to be towed so I got out and was so angry that I had gotten in with a drunk driver (he didn’t appear to be drunk whatsoever when I got in) that I shouted back to the cop, to lock him up and throw away the key. The reason I was so angry was because a few years prior, I had lost a really good friend to a drunk driver. Mike and I had met in a bar about 5 years before this incident and we clicked right away. He was originally from Scotland and was lodging at another of my friend’s homes. He had been looking for work and had gotten an interview at a big company in London, so he was driving home to see his parents up in Scotland first, then driving down to London early to make it to his interview on time the next day. My friend was a careful driver. On his way to London, a drunk driver crashed on the motorway, and the car launched over the central reservation and hit Mike’s car. He was decapitated. At least I know he didn’t know what hit him and that he didn’t suffer a slow agonising death. It took me a long time to come to terms with my loss, and I wrote poems about him for years - I even chatted to his mother and sent her some of my poems. Mike was the first guy I truly loved and he loved me as a friend would. He shaped me to become the person I am today. I used to have very low self-esteem and thought that nobody would like me or ever want to be with me because of my size, but Mike proved me wrong with positive words and understanding. It’s been 30 years now and just writing this brought tears to my eyes again. And that’s why I vowed I would never get into a car with a drunk driver.

Candy suffered massive chest injuries her son's were with her they survived but 1 suffered a serious leg injury he needed physical therapy for a long time.. Also he states he’s a grown man and nobody call tell him what to do”!!!! He don’t care if I’m in the car with him and the thought of him possibly killing me or others around him. He never think about the trauma I might go through if he was killed due to his recklessness. He never think that we both could be charged for murder because he couldn’t slow down. My little brother also drove reckless in my car. My patience had run short after some dangerous situation and I knew telling him off would make him mad again sooooo I pulled the handbrake the very next moment he had to stop and yelled him out of the drivers seat. Thing is, he was being told he drove recklessly by the entire family at home so while he called me crazy, all the others figured he should take it as a sign of not being a maniac behind the wheel. A car is not a toy, it is a piece of heavy machinery and must be respected as such

Yes, I watched the whole bodycam too. That poor officer was beside himself, I think he was in shock, he kept repeating to everyone that he had just given the a ticket and told him to slow down over and over again. I read somewhere that he got sued by both families which must have been devastating for him. I do agree that the hot shot should have been been given a breathalyzer and arrested for reckless driving but it was hardly the cops fault. Apparently family members begged him not to get that car because it was too fast. It's just so sad for everyone.

My friends were supposed to pick me up one night to go to a party. They stood me up. I was so angry they did that. I got the news the next morning, they were involved in a massive accident trying to avoid an oncoming car who suddenly turned in their path, but because they were speeding they lost control and slammed into a street light. The car was cut in half, both brothers, my best friends died. I realised years after, after numerous other events, I have a guardian angel and I was not chosen by God on those occasions. The angel of death was not strong enough. I'm at peace now, never fear death, knowing that I will embrace it with the grace of God. My best friends were my guardian angels that night!

There was NOTHING better than taking him along first in the saddle in front of me, then seeing him ride her being led. It was like both my life before children and after had collided in the best way. Then I got him a pony and he trained it all on his own! I gave him lessons in the round pen, lead him off my mare, and finally felt they were ready to ride around on their own. We often ride together in the pasture me on the same mare that is 16 now and him on his pony. There is simply nothing better in life. I also kayak without my son, mainly because he doesn't have the arm strength to keep up in the kayak yet. I'm a mom, but I had a life before children and that doesn't mean I gave one up for the other.

Anna probably had no idea of the danger. As a pilot of over 40 years and Captain, I refuse to fly on ultralight aircraft and always have. I will say in its defense, the accident that occurred was entirely the fault of the man operating the glider. He made a descending high speed pass, then a rapid gain in elevation, then nosed the craft down to maintain speed and that created a high speed stall, which flipped the ultralight, and when it flipped it broke the wing spar so the wing failed and collapsed. There was nothing that could be done at that point. Structural failure also occurs in all types of aircraft, especially when an aircraft is G loaded and above its designated safe maneuvering speed. This ultralight was flown in a manner to exceed all its limitations. So sad for the unknowing passenger.

I think it's okay to finally comment? My sympathy is mostly with the first responders of the first story. That accident was straight out of a Final Destination movie, and firefighters see enough horror as it is. Plus the policeman who was trying to be lenient on the kid and hoping that he'd see sense had to feel guilty as hell. He would have been thinking, "If only I'd impounded the car, these two would still be alive." Probably not for long. He didn't deserve the guilt because those two kids were determined to win a Darwin Award. The skydiving tragedy confuses the heck out of me.Normally, all skydivers jump with up to 3 parachutes - main chute, backup chute, and emergency chute. (The emergency one will not save you from injury, but it will save your life). A double (or triple) failure from a skydiver with 10,000+ juimps? There's got to be more to that story. Something doesn't add up in the way it went down. I would suspect the skydiving school has more to do with it than they're letting out. Russia's a place of virtual lawlessness these days. Scammers and cowboys like the uiltralight pilot are pretty much ubiquitous there. Those tourists REALLY needed to be asking questions.

But it's awesome too. Nothing better than enjoying the view 13,000 ft in the air from an open door in the side of a plane. I've seen some incredible sights. Maybe dive when there's cloud cover below you if heights are ca thing. Then you won't see the ground and you'll kinda lack perspective. The ride up would freak you out more than the jump down. because of what she told the officer I assumed that she was encouraging him to speed, and that they both wanted to speed. She was saying it was her fault for making him excited, so that made me think they both wanted to speed together. The officer stopping them should have been the warning to make them stop. But maybe that too made them want to keep breaking the law and pushing limits. I remember people like that from when I was younger, who just loved pushing limits, breaking things, breaking rules, it was all hilarious to them. Even then I found it annoying. Later they learnt out of it, but at that young age they loved living as if life was a GTA game. Had these two lived, I believe that most likely with age they would have grown out of this behaviour, they should have learnt from the officer but so many people only learn through their own mistakes, the officer possibly caused them to rebel even harder. But they should have understood that not only did they place their own lives at grave risk, they could've killed others as well... they paid for it with their lives... I actually have empathy them. Unbelievably reckless behaviour and they paid the ultimate price, but it's still sad. They had barely seen life. There are other exciting things to do that are completely safe, they couldn't just gone to sing karaoke or something... very sad...
