I can almost understand the 1st escapologist not making sure the coffin could take the weight of the concrete etc. since he'd done a similar stunt with only dirt in the past and may not have realised the weight difference was so great. But the 2nd guy doing the same is just beyond comprehension.
@derkeheath5172
@derkeheath5172 11 месяцев назад
Not knowing that concrete is so much heavier than dirt is the absolute crucial info determining the success or failure of the stunt. He should have studied the weight and designed his box accordingly - any escape artist with even a modicum of common sense would have done that. Reckless stupidity is what it was. Reminds me of that doofus who imploded his sub on the Titanic trip because he made it out of fiber instead of steel, and used glue instead of welding the joints. Utter dumbassery.

Several years ago now... David Blaine did a "bullet catch" magician's stunt, and depicted himself seeming to get some injury during the stunt, even while he DID (apparently) catch the bullet... "successfully" (?)... I mean, he didn't die... so we (audience) are trapped in the question "Where does showmanship stop and gratuitous blood effect actually begin???" Penn Gillette (of Penn and Teller fame), later, addressed the internet and world at large in a video STILL on YT. He explained his disdain for Blaine and particularly Blaine's "rendition" of the bullet catch, a stunt with as long and storied a history as it has collected a body count of those lazy, lackadaisical, or just ignorant enough to keep up with their preparatory measures and planning for a safe execution. In that video, Penn Gillette explained that there really IS NO MAGIC. There's no mystery forces or alternate realities on stage for him and Teller any more than there are for you at home in your living room. It's a TRICK! Everything is done in a manner to appear as dangerous and death defying as hell, but that NOBODY is ever actually put at any risk WHAT SO EVER... or the trick has been done improperly or gone horribly wrong. He went so far as to explain that the fact that audiences get drawn into the idea that someone might be injured or dying on stage is as much an illusion as anything else they ever do... that Blaine's engagement of blood for stage or cinematic effect was distasteful and his suggestion that he might've been hurt and still successful was unprofessional, inappropriate, and certainly NOT in keeping with the traditions of magic as Penn and Teller were trained or raised to believe and portray it. Part of the whole point of going to these unique and intimate magic shows and stunts is BEING caught up in the emotional context of thinking you might see someone risking his or her life, that you might actually be witnessing someone struggling or flailing, but in moments to realize it was just a trick and they've been as safe as sitting in their own couch in front of their own TV the entire time! Accidents CAN AND DO happen. The best of us have a bad day and once in a while, even make a plain old "bad call"... BUT to risk life and limb in the pursuit of a stunt is not only completely stupid, but without the planning and preparatory work to make SURE it's not even risky or hazardous in the first place, is WHOLELY unprofessional as much as ill advised. No self respecting magician should EVER engage in that sort of practice, and as good as Penn and Teller have been through their BRILLIANT careers, I have to side with THEM on this one. Teller just doesn't tend to talk or soak up the camera time quite like Penn. haha ;o)

building that helicopter based on internet tutorials is honestly so shocking I'm thankful that at least his friends survived - as an aeronautical engineer working at HAL (India's national aeronautics body) I've worked on material tests for helicopters and one of the strongest and most technically challenging parts is the entire rotor assembly; the blade-tip velocity of any spinning blade increases at frankly unfathomable rates as you go farther away from the focal point of rotation and it takes extremely robust engineering (far beyond what can be assembled at a garage) to build a rotor that can withstand the forces generated at the speeds required to achieve lift. I knew right away that the tragedy would involve the rotor blades but I had guessed (and am so glad I was wrong) that it would be the main rotor that breaks and shoots off in all directions at bystanders. Building these machines is highly regulated and must never be encouraged without the right tools and protocol.

With the pandemic and time passed since this tragedy, it is rare to hear updates like this. I had no idea that such a powerful piece of work had been made to signify the delicate balance of industry, life, and Mother Nature. Maybe you could do a video on tragic background of historical markers. Something like The Lion monument sculpture in Lucerne, Switzerland. Mark Twain praised the sculpture of a mortality-wounded lion as ''The most mornful and moving piece of stone in the world.''

It’s a literary flourish. These videos are more entertainment then education so this sort of purple prose should be expected. Yes they were on an active train track; but you aren’t suggesting they would have been there had they known a train was imminent? So, for them in that moment; when just prior all visual and auditory indicators were that a train was not inbound; it was “out of the blue.”

i went jet skiing once in the ocean with my family. i was the only kid legally allowed to drive a jet ski myself so my parents had my brother and sister riding with them. we had a guide and everyone was supposed to follow him. i was so excited to drive my own jet ski until we actually got out on the ocean. i grew up always swimming and surfing in the ocean so i wasn’t really afraid. then the guide leads us out farther from the coast and we could see cruise ships coming in. we weren’t even remotely that close but they were still gigantic. between the cruise ships and the swells, i was terrified. i’m a tiny 110lb teenage girl and i’m absolutely flying up and down over the like 2 foot swells (lol) gripping the handles with all my strength. eventually we got far enough away from the cruise ships where i felt like i could calm down a little but holy shit- it was terrifying. i can’t imagine getting that close.

Wow the sculpture of the woman made from blast debris is more than impressive‼️ Its a pity it's borne from such tragedy, but many in future times will learn from her reminder. The mushroom cloud sent up by the blast was ginormous and hopefully the only one we will witness in our, and our loved ones lifetime‼️. Thanks Tragedy Tales for your meaningful content💯‼️. Theres a lesson to be learnt in every episode that is relevant to each and every viewer, from respecting the power of potential explosives, to taking time out on the water or simply taking heed of mother natures power, to basic common sense by not taking risks so hastily before appropriate tests are taken which minimise those risks first and foremost‼️. Every new video shows us how easy every walk of life is to lose and death takes no prisoners nor is it choosy, classist or has political preference. It takes us in literally a heartbeat1‼️❤😊

In the railroad sequence clip...all the producer needed to do was hire two lookouts from both sides of the track. Both men would carry a 32-mile long-range Cobra walkie talkies and radio in when a train was coming from 32 miles away. Plenty of warning time to get the bed off the tracks and no one would have died that day. RIP

I’m not sure if I understood that 100%, but it looked like to me that the bed was closer to the middle of the train tracks and I certainly would’ve just ran and not worried about trying to drag the bed out of there. That bed wouldn’t hurt the train and you had a better chance of survival, that’s my interpretation anyways
