It really sucks for the car owner. The car will have to be junked, and insurance companies are pure evil - they take many weeks or even months to pay out claims, and the amounts they pay are comically low. Meanwhile they keep jacking up rates and keep making billions of dollars in profits.

There are 2 ways this played out: either the engine cleared the intersection and someone simply didn't care enough or pay enough attention and pulled in front of it, or the engineer and officer let their adrenaline get the better of them and gunned it. With option A: driver gets fault, FDNY differs damages to insurance and isn't liable. With option B: engineer and officer both get held accountable, FDNY pays for the repairs and admits liability. Now yeah I've seen all the videos of FDNY rigs blowing through intersections and such going what seems like a million miles a minute, even saw one where Rescue 1 caught a bit of air in Midtown. But I am willing to give the FDNY the benefit of the doubt because ultimately, I know their people are held to a higher standard not just by the department but by the public, and I know how bad alot of drivers on the road today really are.

These fire truck car crashes are becoming more frequent now. I’m from upstate New York and there were 2 of them a couple days apart. So what can they do to prevent this from happening?

there nothing they can do. as long as firefighters proceed with caution and the cars pay attention even tho they have the green light everything will be fine

Give licenses to people who can actually prove they can drive, not simply pass a test. Far too many people on the road today who don't know how to properly operate a motor vehicle and who do not pay attention. First responders do try to drive with due regard as is taught in EVOC, but only so much can be done by them to mitigate crashes. The public has to pick up the slack.

I don't see how,if the driver of the car was distracted or not paying attention to how close he was,he never would've made contact,this is just yet another example of willful ignorance of people when it comes to emergency responces

@@chrisbrown456you don’t see how it could be the FDNY’s fault? If they didn’t come to a complete stop and clear the intersection for one, especially if the car had a green light. Just like how it could be the cars fault if they ran a red light. 🤷🏻‍♂️
