This was a fun one to transcribe since it uses a lot of familar songs from other Pandaemonium fights. ATHENA. ATHENA. ATHENA. GODDESS. ULTIMA. HEART OF SABIK. etc.
God I *love* the way she twists the words of previous songs. “Say goodnight! To the weakness that you hide behind. Leaving the lies, leaving the fear inside. *Never once were you truly alive*. So scream all you want, no-one can hear you” “Pride. Greed. Sins we have borne. Twisted and broken, with words left unspoken. Journey’s end, as I ascend!” Scream was a call of horror and a plea to be saved from the waning minds of the Keywards. Athena uses the words and melody to deny their right to life and sanity. Hic Svent Leones was a song that reveled in madness, and a warning to others. Athena uses its melody to dismiss her sins and affirm her own majesty.
YoshiP: "Okay, so what theme for the finale of Panadaemonium will we go with?" Soken and his Team: "All of them" YoshiP: "Huh?" Soken and his Team: *Combines every Pandaemonium theme using White Stone Black as a base*
Even some of the attack names are named White Stone, Black Stone, Devour. All call backs to previous Panda bosses. This is going to be one hell of a savage tier
Came to say this is a banger, but also, what an awesome foil to Hydaelyn to end the raid tier for the expansion that ended Hydaelyn’s story for Etheirys. Athena wanting to control and make everyone in her own image vs. Hydaelyn wanting to protect everyone and allow them to be free was just such an awesome counterpoint.
@AvengingFossil No, shes not darker than Hermes. She’s literally what Hermes see whats wrong with the Etherys and got depressed by it as no one sees whats wrong about how being Athena is wrong.
@@tuck295q I disagree. Hermes was depressed and disturbed by what the ancients were doing so he wanted someone else to pass judgment on them, that's true. But he also wiped his own memories so he would still fight for their survival as well. He still had hope at some point and evened the playing field between both the ancients and Meteion. As such, regardless if the Final Days destroyed everything or not, Hermes was going to accept the result. So his intent was that the ancients would go through a trial to figure out if they deserve to strive for the future. In comparison, Athena literally concluded the ancients were no good and wanted to wipe everything and create perfect life as she envisioned. Basically, she believe no one else but her was worthy and needed godhood to reshape the world to *her* liking. Their perspective and intent couldn't be any more opposite than that.
@avengingfossil9674 Eh, not really. First, the point is nobody knows what would have happened without the sundering, the ancients being doomed was just one of many possibilities (which was also pointed out by the devs). Ultimately it just came down to Venat's choice (who herself admits the unfairness of her choice, since she robbed the ancients of another future, no matter if they had failed or not). As for Athena, she's just another proof that Ancients were human beings. You had happy people, sad people, people who were sane, people who weren't etc. She takes it to another level though.
It really makes you think… if Athena hadn’t been so focused on her selfish goals and, instead, wanted a big dance party between past and future, then she might have been our friend.
Savage Nobles, Cultured Thieves. Athena was a true glimpse into the underlying rot that persisted in the world unsundered. To show what twisted ends beings with the power of creation itself could get into.
Once I heard some of Hic Svnt Leones I lost it. I love when final bosses mix in previous themes like this, gives you that feeling of "it's all lead to this final fight"! Can't wait for savage!!!
This must be up there with Return to Oblivion, Fallen Angel (Ultimate), Twice Stricken, and Titan Maximum. I love the freakin batshit screaming in the background when it's Athena's part. So evil. Athena is very refreshing. I'm so tired of the sympathetic villains with sad boohoo stories. I love me some megalomaniac bloodthirsty power-hungry evil bitch that just wants to be god and kill everything. So chaotic. Giving me Kefka vibes. Her exposure was short but was very impactful. Those cascading notes at: "I manipulate your kind in my image, my chosen ones"... AHH CHILLS!
I was really glad we got to say a proper goodbye to Elidibus. And I'm thinking--though it wasn't directly addressed--that Lahabrea goes crazy because of his retaking Hephaistos and because of the influence of the Heart of Sabik corrupting him toward Athena's will.

Nice work! I'm curious about the "bite" lyrics, though...it's giving me forbidden fruit vibes. And instead of temptation of knowledge and individuality, Athena seems keen on erasing it instead. Chilling.
It is the antithesis of P8S, referring more specifically to its second phase, I love how both songs sound so much the same, but with different intentions. I'm glad they stuck with this musical theme, as it fits perfectly with the Raid. I'm excited to find out what the second theme of this boss will be and what kind of transformation it will have on Savage. Pandemonium in general I feel it was a very good raid, it competes perfectly with the Stroomblood Raid which for me is one of the best the game has, next to the Alexander Raid.
Even without Savage or looking at datamines etc, the lore and story paint a good picture of what's to come, plus there's already the Savage exclusive orchestrion roll in the orchestrion log. Spoilers below for P12 Savage Still here? Okay. "Ultima's Perfection (Endwalker)" is the song's title (and is a remix of the FF Tactics song, same heard in the Ivalice raids), so hazarding a guess at the Savage phase being Ultima Athena isn't a stretch at all.
Yeah and there’s also SPOILERS: that dialogue option when talking to Lahabrea where it even asks if Athena met Ultima, the High Seraph. So that’s not even a stretch to believe that.
If you notice 2 bosses use Ultima, the spell. The first one is Pandaenium and Athena. Athena seems to have a lot of mastery with the spell. It is likely the auracite has Ultima the high seraph essence and that is what corrupted her. Remember Ultima is a being so powerful that threatens Hydaelyn greatly as Ramza says. It is likely Ultima is stronger than both hydaelyn or zodiark. Cid also noticed that very much like Omega, Ultima is from another star.
There is some Bayonetta(Madama butterfly, final bosses) and Kill la kill(Ragyo, her theme:Blumenkranz has very similar vibes, she is also the best mom ever) as well
@@naif9464 Morally gray? Endsinger = Evil. Golbez = Evil WoL and Hades = objectively evil. Zenos = Evil. Thordan and NIdhogg = Evil. The last real morally gray character we've had, was Gaius, who is a friendly now.
I'm aware I've built a little following now (which I very much appreciate!) so I figured it'd be courteous for a few days at least. There comes a point you shouldn't be on RU-vid if you're avoiding spoilers but first few hours especially shouldn't be it.
@@FlappySeal The algorithm basically guarantees these show on your sidebar if I listen to any of the videos on your channel regularly since it's 'new'. That was mostly my complaint.
THIS IS SO GOOD, I was rocking to this in a panic reviving everyone falling off the platforms oh my god it was one of the best healer experiences I've ever had in all of endwalker. They really did say ALL THE PANDAEMONIUM MUSIC, ALL OF IT AT ONCE
oh wow, how unusual. they didn't tease this at all in the trailer, unlike scream. this is really tonally different to the others as well despite using parts from the previous tiers songs. i'm interested to find out what leads up to this :)
Well they did tease a raid theme in the trailer just like they did in 6.2 with Scream. It's just...we weren't expecting which theme was for the raid... ^^;
Athena is the perfect antithesis of Hydaelyn / Venat. were Venat saw the potential in humanity to survive on its own merits, be stewards of the star and learn from what the ancients couldn't which made her want to protect mankind by becoming divinity. Athena on the other hand Athena sought divinity because she thought the only merits mankind had was as test subjects to make a better perfect race as stewards of the star
cannot stop thinking about some of these lyrics when viewed through the lens of athena’s relationship with erichthonios, particularly “never once were you truly alive” the way she thinks so little of everyone else including her own son and believes she will be the one to make the world “perfect” really comes across in this track
Interestingly this was also a common theme among the ancients regarding their creations, and later how Ascians felt about sundered beings. This particular lyric is actually a reference to Emet-Selch telling you, "I don't consider you to be truly alive, ergo I won't be guilty of murder if I kill you."
Loved this raid series so much, especially 11 and 12. Best in the game for me, but that's just personal preference. Like others have said, I love how they worked in all the themes including White Stone Black.
Reminds me of the time when Soken doesn't give a fuck and just spoiled these lyrics in a photo way back in February. I was imagining how it will sound like when I saw it lol
I wobder if the butterfly wings on this boss is a reference to the greek god of death, thanatos, whose symbol is butterflies, referencing the fact u fight her in the lifestrem. And the 2 actual feather wings poking between em being a reference to her namesake of athena, despite not being owl wings.
Perhaps it could also be referring to her reaching the end of her metamorphosis of becoming a god. Thus why the butterfly like form, as butterflies are known for having metamorphosis play a vital role in their life.
I think the boss' design is a reference to the Greek goddess Psyche. Souls are often conflated with butterflies, and the name 'Psyche' itself means 'soul' in Greek.
To add to what other folks have said, the eye markings on, and number of, the wings could be referencial to modern/popular depictions of 'biblically accurate' Serephim
@@Xyonai3112 That also tracks with the eye markings adorning the skies surrounding her battlefield as well as the oval shapes on the tiles of her platform; when she transforms some of the tiles into living things and they drop out of sight, the icon in the middle oval shape resembles an eye. It's a bit quick to see, but I believe they become actual eyes once the transformation is complete. It's a whole entire motif.
I didn't notice it when I first did this raid, but what she calls out during her casting of Thieos's Ultima is the same thing Lahabrea called out when The Ultima Weapon first cast Ultima.
THIS. They were a lot more willing to play with arenas this patch. The manafont having the tiny square and crescent arena, Golbez having a tiny arena as well, P10 having the side sections of the arena, and Athena constantly breaking the arena. I hope SE keeps this up. It’s fun having unique arenas.
You can also tell that in p9 with the fire and ice mechanics expanding and compressing. They were really pulling out the stops to offer more fun with the stage shapes. I was so burnt out with circles and pizza slices last tier.
Me on patch day: WHAT IS THIS. I LOVE IT ALREADY Also me: scans youtube hoping someone uploaded it so I can loop it for hours while I do everything me next week after several thousand plays: ...............still a banger >.>y
My listening order is: Scream Hic Svnt Leones Athena, the Tireless One One Amongst the Weary I find they lead perfectly into each other like this. Makes sense in my head, at least.
Man these lyrics. So, with previous pandæmonium raids, I’ve found parallels between Lahabrea (particularly Hephaistos) and the Emperor of Hell from Final Fantasy II. And here with Athena, I can’t help but try and tie her glory and godhood to the Emperor of Heaven from Soul of Rebirth. Ostensibly the “pure” half of the emperor, but his ambitions betray the fact that even as an angelic being, he is as controlling and power hungry as he was in life. Athena claims to be the hand to guide the world to perfection, but everything and everyone must bend to her will, or perish. Godhood has not purged her imperfections.
I personally feel like "Pride, greed, first we were warned" is actually "Pride, greed, thirsty/thirsting for more". It'd make more sense lyrically, at a bare minimum.
We’ll have to see what the official lyrics are, but “first we were warned” could possibly refer to her using the heart of sabik to achieve her ends despite knowing what it would do to her. Which considering the lines in the questline, would be a little nod towards it. I like both versions tbh both are cool for the plot
When I heard the first 20 seconds I went ballistic. I could get just 15 mins of this as the fights bgm. The rest of it is great, but I wish that part would repeat more in the song. its so edm like.
When Hic Svnt Leones dropped i literally had to stop playing to process what was going on.. and let me tell you that i wasn't the only one. Yeah.. we wiped.
I can't, this is tooo good 😂 Say goodnight to the weakness that you hide behind Leaving the lies, leaving the fear inside Never once were truly alive SO SCREAM ALL YOU LIKE NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU❤ i need this in first Scream too
I don't think lyrics should be posted unless there's an official page for them because so far, none of the channels that have lyrics for this song are consistent. Here be lions? Really? So out of place with the overall theme. That can't be what is being sung. Getting second hand embarrassment from looking at the words.
Er, "here be lions" was used in previous Pandaemonium song "Hic Svnt Leones" that the lyrics are directly repeating. So those and the surrounding repeated lyrics are 100% accurate. So maybe check the embarrassment and attitude to boot. Fans enjoy having a stab at the lyrics, it's normal.
@@LotofNothing Yes, the style really doesn't fit my likings. I'm not saying they're bad pieces of music, I wouldn't be able to appreciate them. I simply prefer grandiose orchestral music this strange style.
@@erberlon ahhh orchestrial.....boring trope as been proven in E12 first phase. it's just people screaming and easy to forget music. Pandaemonium musics >>>>>>>>>>>> Eden musics, eventhough Eden also good and have nostalgia remixes. Still, E12 is the worst
This song is pretty good, but nothing tops Scream and the P4 track so far. Kinda dissapointed. P8 was the biggest letdown ever in terms of raid music. This one's at last good in third place, for the tier.
I have to agree with OP. It's good, but nothing beats scream. I also didn't like white stone black that much, and every track except for fleeting moment in this third part is a bit disappointing.
