It's been a lot of work Dave and still more work to complete it. You and Mark have put a lot of hours into it, but it will be well worth it. It will be a credit too you. I can't wait to see the finished article. Keep up the good work Dave. As Dave says, it will be a "Class act"

Been following you for a fair while now Dave. I've just restored my Picton Domino (based on a shetland sheltie). 1 lesson I learned with flow coat is if you want to paint over it you need to sand it back and wipe with acetone because paint won't bond to the wax. You probably know that but just incase you didn't awake the same mistake I did. Hope that helps. Cheers for sharing with us buddy its going to be a great boat when you finish.

Hi good job. I would use ball pit balls to fill your Gap. Even closed cell foams eventually hold water..i build coldrooms for a living and uou would be amazed how much they still to hold water once there a year or so old.
@C3BFA
@C3BFA 9 месяцев назад
Thank you for your input I really appreciate it. I was thinking the closed cell may absorb water over time. I do think I'm going down the play pit ball route tbh. And maybe closed cell foam around the edges of the deck because it don't have drainage between them anyway because of the shape.. Thanks for your comment i appreciate it thanks dave

Hi mate , prob too late , ........before you flip the boat , brace the the beam of the boat with timber lengths....3x1 cls etc using the existing rod holder holes. This will keep the shape and torsion too the hull. You want to avoid any flexing of the hull which might compromise any of the superb work you have done . Also try and cushion the gunwhale with matting or even material as to absorb the weight of the roll over of the boat etc. When complete , this will be the strongest dory out there !
@C3BFA
@C3BFA 11 месяцев назад
It's already flipped now. It's solid I did test it and it won't go out of shape. The gunnels are supported too. Thanks for your input I do appreciate it

Wow Dave the stringers look awesome all in place and sealed, it's really coming on now. Just catching up on videos as been in hospital so now on the road to recovery and to get back to work. Looking forward to watching the other videos and to see it all finished and ready to see water, keep up the good work as and when you can around family time and work. My last outing in June I was targeting the rays with squid, bluey, mackerel but got pestered with turbot but I'll keep trying for the rays 👍🎣🎣🎣

Thanks Mike. I hope you have a speedy recovery. Yes its coming on good now, I have just started sanding and grinding the hull back yesterday. I would love turbot over the rays 😂😂😂

@@C3BFA cheers Dave I'm getting there just a bit tender but will soon be back to work and fishing. It will look well once the hull is all sanded and the keel strengthened can't wait to see more videos, turbot 8s a new species for me but would like to catch a ray got the right baits it may be down to reaching the right distance into ray territory or not casting as far but having the right conditions on the day, keep up the good work Dave 👍🎣🎣🎣

@C3BFA 11 месяцев назад
@michaelabbott6271 I haven't found distance is important. I have found the seem to favour smaller baits tho
@michaelabbott6271
@michaelabbott6271 11 месяцев назад
@@C3BFA I'm no big caster and not sure of my distance but been practicing the OTG cast and doing OK, I've tied the two rigs in one using the trident tackle that you tied and I've also tied some 3' pulley rigs 70Ib straight through but tied a 4/0 koike circle hook as a dongle rig to stop deep hooking the fish and using baits about 3" long but the nuisance fish are finding the baits first but I'll keep trying 👍🎣🎣🎣
@C3BFA
@C3BFA 11 месяцев назад
@michaelabbott6271 you don't need to be. I do suppose that depends where you fish tho. I'd say where I am 30 yards + is enough
