Mine has filming hours in the mornings. It has a lot of influencers and tv "stars" coming and it's part of their job to film themselves. I go there in the morning as well, but the people always communicate when they are filming and ask if it's okay for me to be in the background. I feel very respected there. That said, the constant asking is getting me out of my focus fairly often, so I told most regulars not to worry about me and let me work out. It works realy well.
I honestly think this is the best idea for all gyms. There are usually mirrors to check your form, although we know that's not why they're filming. They could film themselves at home, but narcissists want everyone to see them. Ban all filming and we solve the problem. Simple!
I do love the irony of filming yourself so it can be to be viewed by strangers, only to then be upset that strangers are watching you as you film in a public space.
Yes, because they are not paying, not increasing ad revenue, not hitting like and subscribe, not leaving a superchat. They think they can get it for free, those PERVERTS! ;))
So glad my gym doesnt allow pictures nor filming. It's such an awesome environment full of people trying to better themselves, I'd be absolutely livid if any of the patrons were posted on any platform without their consent. We have a number of disabled people, people just starting their journey, people working hard to improve themselves. They don't need that type of bullshit in their lives to discourage them from doing so.
As an elderly disabled vet, if I was looking for a new gym that allowed filming, I'd leave in a heartbeat and tell them why. I'm already self-conscious about my appearance. I don't need that crap.
People are always paying attention to my workout instead of their own Especially when I deadlift 5 something or bench in my 3s Because I'm light weight lifting decent weight Some people cheering some hating but Definitely all eyes on me 👀
@@ShiniGorky187 being looked at and being filmed to post online are two very different things though. IDGAF if someone is staring at me in the gym, but I would be super pissed off if someone posted video of me in the gym, especially ones like this where they’re complaining or others where they’re making fun of how people look or the way they do exercises.
lol if you really want to go there, we use to grape one another, bash the other upside the head and drag to a secluded spot typically a den until a baby was born and the baby breast fed or ate raw meat.. crime doesnt cover it...
To the girl: Maybe they weren't staring at you, but at the camera. Wondering why you're filming? or maybe they don't want to be filmed since you're actually the once encroaching upon their privacy?
@@mrsstaff7876 And even if they aren't thinking that. I also let my eyes wander around the gym, looking at the form of others, keeping an eye out for someone who might need a little support between my own reps, etc. Sometimes I also stare into the air, lost in thought, because even though I'm working out, I can't let go of whatever happened that day. I wouldn't even know afterwards what I looked at during those moments. There are so many reasons why people look your way. None of them are creepy unless you make them creepy.
I think we can all agree that if Joey does not have his iconic white cap, the "mind your own business" energy is just not the same. Keep up the good work, Joey on calling out these gym bullies. 💪💪💪
I joined my uni's gym this week, went twice already and it's an amazing experience! No cameras anywhere, just a few folk minding their own business, and super supportive when I've asked for help. Hopefully this helps anyone else who's been nervous about going to the gym for the first time ❤
Oh ppl record, you just ain't seen it yet, I don't see ppl recording in the gym every time I go, but they do it, lame tripod and all, and yes it's banned doesn't matter, hey even staff records themselves
I go to a YMCA, I don’t know if there’s a no filming policy but I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone filming in the gym. I love it. It’s impossible to control who accidentally steps into your video, and people have lots of good reasons for not wanting to be posted online in that way.
Today I made eye contact with a good looking woman at the gym, but then I remembered these kind of videos and was like nope, and continued my set with my head down. Sad world we live in sometimes.
There’s going to come a day when no one is staring at her, at which point she’ll promptly become more bitter and start accusing men of discriminating against older women.
Glad to see your channel growing! The audacity people have! Filming does need to be banned in gyms. I know you’re helping people with what you’re doing!
I will continue to say it no matter how many people get upset. It always seems to be the average looking/average body women who are posting videos like this. It really seems like they are doing this to boost their own confidence and seek validation for their own insecurities more so than to "expose gym creeps."
@@terrypietru8012that's a bit harsh, males have to live without the attention, as sad as that is they know they will never get that warmth from other people. As awful as this may sound, women feel like they were meant to get it, as others like them get it, just not them. So that failure of getting it compared to others would also be painful in its absence, and that's real too.
@@dsdgdsfegfeg couldn't care less if i get attention or not, some of us just go to gym to train, how about that? May be she should do the same, she'd make plenty of friends that way.
Being attentive is rooted in our evolutionary history. Early humans needed to constantly survey their surroundings for potential threats, food sources, or opportunities. Being observant was a matter of survival. Those who were more attentive and could quickly spot a lurking predator or an edible fruit were more likely to survive and pass on their genes. Over time, this attentive trait became hardwired into our species. In modern times, while we don't need to look out for the same types of predators, this instinct still plays out in our curiosity and the way we observe our environment. Punishing someone for being human is just, well, inhumane.
I agree with you 100%, people go out there in the public to get mad people see them. That's life people, others have eye's and ears. They will see and hear with or without your consent! Get over it!
These attention seeking people are unbalanced. This girl needs to get into therapy. Tearing down others to get yourself sympathy and attention is unhealthy and downright evil.
I’ve seen filming once at the gym and it was a bunch of young bucks. Well, the OG’s weren’t having it and the kids stayed far away from getting anyone in their shots. Never seen them come back. Love my gym.
Good for you for staying on this issue Joey. So many people below a certain age think they are starring in their own movie, they're the director and everyone else is just extras.
Haha Hey Joey now we know the secret to your wisdom (the cap) gives you the power to call out self centered people just looking for clout, attention online. Thank you for bring common sense, respect and good etiquette back. Styling btw. ✌️
When some lady thinks that everyone’s staring at them, it could possibly be true, but what they do not realize is some could be staring out of discussed, admiration, condescending them, or they could be just staring out into space……
adding the hat was great touch. so funny. i laughed so hard i almost peed my pants. thanks for keeping it light while you try and get out an important message.
My gym is film friendly but people are considerate of others and no one is looking to catch "Gym Creeps". It's nice being around respectful people, no idea what's going on in Mainland US nowadays.
Joey looking sharp! (Oh, wait, I mean, I wasn't looking at Joey I was looking at the wall behind him. Gotta remember: never look at anyone, never look at anyone, never think positive thoughts about how someone looks, never think positive thoughts about how someone looks)
The hypocrisy of them posting videos online for any stranger in the world to see, but they get upset when someone IRL looks at them absolutely blows my mind. I seriously think these people need to seek help.
I seriously don't understand this new trend. I've been going to the gym for probably 2 decades and I glance at people and always notice people glancing at me and it's the most normal thing in the world. If I had a tripod setup I'd expect even more looks and wouldn't care.
Hell I notice a lot of people look around at other people who are just new. That alone is pretty normal if it's a place you're fairly familiar at least seeing people and someone new comes in. The irony of filming to post online and posting this whole thing online but being upset that people around you looked at you is unmatched.
Yes, it makes no sense when they get mad that a couple of people look their way at the gym. Makes me want to ask, “Then why are you okay with thousands or possibly millions of people staring through a screen at you?” They see the same thing as the people who look at you at the gym except they can get away with looking at you over and over through a screen. And might I add, what do you think people on social media really look at when you post it? Probably not your face… Probably not the weights… C’mon influencers.
i'm so glad i workout in a countryside powerlifting gym where 99% are men and i maybe see someone filming once a month for few lifts when they go for PR. Having to train in front of tripod whole session would make me anxious
If I ever see someone filming, I will deliberately stare at the camera and ruin their video. What are they gonna do? If your gym won't ban filming, I think this is the best way to make the issue known and force them to ban filming.
I have only taken 2 photos at the gym. First one was of my husband from behind (yes he knows, no it never got posted anywhere) and the second was of an empty machine, that I was curious to know about. If I use my phone in the gym, it's either to listen to music, or to watch a video/movie. I respect others and just hope that they do the same for me.
I've cycle my choice of gym a couple times, because one place i train with my PT & the other near my home. Luckily, both have these wholesome married woman, that will cheer you up or tease you up until you successfully finish your set. I'd offer to change or set her prefer weight for her set from time to time.
those people probably looked at her way, and maybe not even directly at her for half a second and she thinks they're staring at her. don't ever leave your home if you don't like people looking at you.
Films everyone ------> omg everyone is staring at me! What a great form of projection. Interesting that a lot of gyms have strict "no filming policies" which basically means "guys, pls actually just workout here"
I really do think that people need to start speaking up and saying that they don't want to be filmed and do not agree to it. Legal action can be taken in most circumstances including cases where the person filming themselves are considered "reasonably safe" meaning there's no reason to have surveillance going on yourself.
Honestly when is this nonsense going to end, we went from tiktok girls getting upset that men glance at them to this girl getting upset that women are glancing at her, come on man. Also the fact that shes ok with people on social media looking at her really shows that she wants nothing but a boost in viewership which has happened for all the wrong reasons! Hope she takes all that backlash well!
I go to a well known large gym and you can't look anywhere without someone making eye contact with you. At first it was weird because i didn't want to come off as creepy, so i was forcing myself to avoid contact for more than 1-2 seconds Everytime it happened but it was exhausting after awhile i felt like i was hurting my attention span . I concluded it's just the environment and it's going to happen alot so instead of forcing myself look away and avoid eye contact . I just relax and focus on my Workout and breathe instead of trying to please others because they think they're the hottest person in the gym "oh why are they staring again😂!!?"
Look at the bottom - she says "2 people came to compliment so it's fine" Further below "I never get stressed....". I think she was just apprehensive of going to a new gym. But she was made to feel welcome. Chill everyone, just take your time before jumping the gun
I get why more and more people have been pushing to have phones/fimling banned from gyms, but I think its unfortunate that its gotten to that point. There are people who film themselves to make genuine work out demonstration videos and who respect others when filming for whatever personal reason. It sucks that the people who are respectful with filming can't do their thing anymore because so many jerks have ruined it by acting like morons.
