Absolutely fantastic video, Josh. Seriously. I'm not just saying that. This is one of the best review videos I've ever seen of any razor. There's a TON of useful information in here. You're one the only people in the world who could do such a thorough review because you've used the Ambassador, Konsul, Gibbs, Flexi, 80 yr old zamak and the others you mentioned like Henson. I can't think of any questions a potential buyer might have that you didn't answer. A++

Great showdown shave, buddy! Very even-keeled and honest review. I agree, the brass is prettier, for sure, and will certainly last longer. I like that it’s coated, too. I don’t really love patina’d brass.

Hello, Subie. Very nice enthusiastic video. I recently bought Yaqi adjustable zamak, but after watching your video I really want a brass version. Can you please tell me where you got the information about Yaqi brass razor being coated? I can't find it myself on the forums and marketplaces.

Hi my friend, The razor has a texturel component that definitely isn't associated with raw brass. The razor material feels like a matt coating. I didn't see anywhere that it was listed as coated or treated, but It also doesn't say raw brass. If you look at the photos on AliExpress you'll notice that it's not shiny, or reflective at all due to the coating. One of the users here actually reached out to me after buying a brass model and stripped his coating off with a Dremel and some polish. This Allowed it to get a patina and darker coloration. I will be keeping mine coated as I think it will really help the razor to stay timeless and last the ages 👍 Thank you again for the comment!

Nice comparison shave! Brass Yaqi looks like it has great finish. Great price compared to Rex. Love that energy! Your reviews are well done and well thought out. Now swap the brass handle to the Rex and it overclocked the Rex ;)

Nice review and shave! It looks as nicely finished as the Rex and I think they should just put a stainless spring in there. It should have had that in the first place because there's no advantage to a brass spring as brass is soft. The Gibbs had a plain steel spring and chrome plated brass body. Someone at Yaqi wasn't thinking when they came up with that idea. The springs I got for the Gibbs are stainless from china and probably would fit it.

Okay...but let's say it's between the Pearl Flexi and the brass Yaqi? Which works better?

An excellent shave battle idea 💡👍🤔 Kenny I think the Pearl, atleast for me, is a more efficient razor but it's got its own set of quirks. The Pearl is a much heavier razor, and is riddled with fit and finish issues from batch to batch. I have now seen 2 in person where the finish has blemishes - and I know some come with adjustment issues (which I believe are mostly fixed at this point). For and finish alone, as odd as it is to say, the Yaqi is a much nicer razor. Adjustment is smooth, the coating gives it a finished feel - also protecting from corrosion. I also like that the Yaqi is easy to disassemble, the Pearl is much more difficult to get apart. For me, I think the Brass Final Cut really is a nicer razor overall. Putting them side by side, the Pearl is going to shave closer (at least mine does). It's very comparable to the closeness you get with the Rex Ambassador, but it does have much more blade feel than the Yaqi. The brass Yaqi is very tame and forgiving, and the Pearl has a bit more kick. I hate recommending a razor that I know has potential to be flawed - even if it shaves well, so please keep that in mind.

Thank goodness I'm saving money on blades because the handles are ridiculous. You also completely sold me on the High Proof for my wife and her shaving needs. Keep me posted! My wife actually says it's the Safety Razor that could convert anyone to wetshaving as it's less hassle and equally easy compared to carts. No plastic handles cracking, or rough shaves from 12 bladed monstrosities - and it's easy to load. Safety Razor closeness - ease of a pivoting cartridge. I Can't wait to hear what everyone thinks when they get theirs. They should be shipping in the coming weeks as I know assembly has begun!!
