My first day starts today in an hour. I remember watching your videos several months ago just researching apprenticeship videos. Appreciate your videos
“Choose a career that you enjoy doing AND that pays enough to give you the time and resources to do the things you want to do.” I have enjoyed the challenges and rewards that the trades offered, and made enough money that I could live a lifestyle and provide the quality of life for my family that I wanted to. But the money was never really the focus. Perhaps because there was a sufficient amount of it and because I enjoyed the work so much. Congratulations to you, and may your journey be as kind to you.
Thanks for the good word brother! Love that you see the goodness in all of it! I have found a lot of good so far and can't believe I get paid to do this! Much love brother
Hey Joon! This is Chad from Local 440 in Indiana. I am a Steamfitter of 32 years. I enjoyed watching this video and can't help but wonder if some of the youngsters coming up put as much thought into this as you do. It gives me a better feeling about the future seeing this and knowing there are folks who have their head in the game! I want to tell you, you are getting ready to make the big jump when you top out! Congratulations in advance! It is worth all of the efforts you have put in and it is a financial advancement but the reward is much more when you look at taking pride in the knowledge and skills you are using to perform on a daily basis! I will ask you to stay involved because the reward is tenfold when you contribute to helping others get to where you are right now! I am a UA instructor of 10 years and I can promise you that from experience! Keep it rollin'!
Great video Joon, I've been a UA member with Local 38 my entire life you have the right perspective but it's not all about the money you could earn but more about providing for and securing the health of our entire communities when installing sanitary piping systems. Enjoy your time left as an apprentice but latch onto a great journeyperson and yes they are out there, learn all you can from them and in turn you someday will be able to be that person that a young apprentice can look up to. Good luck in your career and it is a life long journey that will be rewarding.
Thank you Steve! That's a great word! And totally true! Hope we start to realize that more and you're right about the journey. Thank you for the support and comment!
Congrats brother! You must be on the east coast! And keep it up and stay into it. I'm really glad my long fucking journey has helped you. No problem! Join the tribe! Ask any questions brother
Southern California it’s very competitive to get into a apprenticeship I been trying my whole six years just to get certified but I have the experience hands on
Right on brother! Thanks a lot! Congrats to you too! I'm actually hoping to make it to the regional comp again and it's in Vegas! So we shall see! Stay strong
@@koonyeezy6433 it's a competition put on by the United Association for apprentices. It goes local, state, regional and national is like the super bowl. All 5 best of the nation to win the national top apprentice. Got 2nd in regionals last year headed there in a week to try and win it!
@@JoonRhee Damn that sounds fun as hell I didn’t get on with a union but I start my apprenticeship with one of the best rated plumbing businesses in Sacramento California this Thursday. Sounds tempting though, but I had to take what I can get.
Might be starting plumbers apprenticeship here in NYC. What are some other positions with-in the field that you could get into and move on up the ladder with-in the union? Was just wondering what else is there to do or move up in once your in the union. Just turned 25 as well, is that a good age to start?
That's a normal reaction. But how are you able to get hired anywhere when you aren't 18? Curious about that one mate. And don't worry life gets way more stressful than this:) you'll be fine.
Well first things first congratulations. Take it one step at a time. All you can do is all you can do. Go in there showing that you want it. Which you do. And passing your exam is huge. Once you get in in California brother you good for days dog days. Give me posted. Keep us posted. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for sharing!
@@meechip7451 thank you brother ! I refreshed my math online taking quizzes the rest I didn’t study the material really. And I got into the plumbers union Local 230
