i prefer sain myself, but thats because i find that kent's extra speed is a little overkill while sain is doubleing most things anyways, so i prefer the extra str when debaiting which of the two to use. Also i find kent's skill lead doesn't matter much, when you should have weapon triangle advantage the vast majority of the time. And finally, I REALLY like that Sain has a luck stat that exists, so he's less likely to get railed by those low percentage crits.

The only argument I can really make for Kent is that he has a good affinity and supports with really good characters like Fiora, Farina & Heath

I just liked Sains personality more While Kent's speed is nice since he can double hit a bunch of enemies, i just ended up promotin Sain to cavalier and i am so content with him, he pretty much one shots everything anyway so he doesn't need the extra speed, and he also tanks pretty well So yeah, Sain supremacy

Because of the doubling threshold barely rising, Sain has more long term potential. There is a common misconception that Sain is more durable than Kent, when after promotion their defensive abilities are basically the same. But despite Sain's monster strength, the best way to deal more damage is to actually hit twice, and Kent will do that better until you get Marcus. Also, I'd really rather focus on Florina for Lyn mode if anything. And you can easily level Priscilla up while arena stomping with Raven. Idk Sain is fun to use and Kent is low maintenance but I think that they're both a bit overrated.

Sain because it’s FE7 where enemies are slow and skill isn’t very important. If it was FE6 Kent would maybe be better.

In hhm you aren't doubling consistently with 14 speed. On cog of destiny there's Valkyries with 24 speed sain is dying to that pretty easily. You're forgetting sain needs speed to be better than Kent. He already has low skill.
