After watching you guys for several years, i honestly expected to see the jetboat in your pool for the"floating test"🤣 I'm pretty sure, if it wasn't that heavy you guys would have done it! Keep it up boys!
@@rileymannion5301 sure! Can't way for it😅. Also the could do an water2air intercooler setup like they were doing the coolant for the enigne. Should work right? Its of course not the best way but they're the boostedboiz right?😀
Imagine how nice and cold an air to water intercooler will keep those charge temps! Endless supply of cold water and you already have a built in water pump.
@@dailying3049 are you implying that kids like lil tuner engines? Why would wanting to see an actual fast boat be a boomer thing? You could squeeze a v driven V8 in that easy & it would be a fuckin rocket ship lol. Not only is it sad to use a 4cyl, but also making it jet drive??? Do you know how inefficient jet drives are, or?....
Awesome too see how excited you both got while driving. Bet it feels great building something from scratch and seeing it perform so well. Great job Boosted Boiz.
The fact that you let Wyatt do the first drive shows how much you guys got each other's back! You two are amazing and what you guys do is hella motivational! Keep up the amazing work fellas! 👏
It's not that serious. Do you always get overly emotional over random sh*t? I can't imagine what it was like after you watched brave heart. You probably dressed up as Mel Gibson and rescued feral cats.
Kyle, after seeing the humble beginnings of the boostedboiz channel, you've made it quite far in such a short time. Congrats on all of your success. I cant wait to see what you decide to wrap this boat in... HONDA POWER jetboat wrap??? easy win
These jet boats are such good content. Fun custom builds, super fun with relatively low horsepower, and people enjoying their days on the water. Love it!
I grew up jet boating with my old man. They're just like hot rods with all the different combos people put in them. And not having to worry about any kind of gear box or trans makes them really fun to just concentrate in the engine and the impeller sizing, that's it.
Make sure your vtec is set to turn on below the OEM temp, 135F i think, if you're going to continue to run it just warm all the time. That thing is dope.
@@ericnelson6982 if they are running it in the salt water the thermostat will rust away pretty quickly I’m sure there could be a better option that’ll last longer
Once you get that trim set up and tuned you’ll be close to 55 mph. I believe it will take a little load off the engine once trimmed out as well. Bout had a heart attack when I seen it without a turbski though. Gonna be silly with a turbo! Nice work!!
i don't know if 10 mph is going to happen with just tabbing the boat... i get 5 from mine ... especially considering there is more weight to be added in the boat (which all in the comments have not commented about in their guesstimates).... it will gain speed but also remember boyz that also adds rpm to the motor ... back to the extra weight ... seats, poly bottom, mounts for seats, sound bar (cause it has to have one lol ... and amps prob a 10 which i see room for).. then a suggestion, foam filler (for floatation and in case the thing does get a hole)... also didn't see bilge pump (boys that is a must) ... and cause FL sun is nightmare sometimes, a bimini top (which will slow it down but will feel like AC underneath it)... Boyz also don't forget to register and put a real engine kill system ... USCG mandatory item ... like that found on your jet skis cause a kill switch will still get you fined ...
@@xblackaquamanx8070 stay tuned then. He was pushing water so bad i don’t see a problem. Yep more weight…engine wasn’t even tuned. Get that front end out of the water and that’s gonna cut the drag in half. It really doesn’t matter. As long as they are having a good time.
I'd put a nice tiny turbo on it so it spools up faster and gets power earlier. I think it would drive a shitload better if it had more power off the bottom. Anyways that's just my $0.02 cents. Cheers boys!
I personally think a supercharger would be better than a turbo in that thing considering you don’t need much boost and instant torque is what you want in a boat.
Dude, absolutely. Just check out ANY even tiny bit fast boat.... supercharged. Change the old saying a little..."Turbos are nice, but I'd rather be BLOWN.... especially in your more performance oriented marine application..." Now that's gotcher double entender, nerd-speak ending, AND logic one cannot ignore!!!
Absolutely a supercharger would be the way to go, but cost wise it’s gonna be a turbo. They probably already have everything they need sitting in a box somewhere lol. Either way I’m pumped for it.
@@boostedboiz Top shelf editing right there, son. You kept her booty out of that shot like a pro. lol That boat is gonna rip. Please be careful. You think a hydro-locked engine is bad news, wait till you hydro-lock your lungs. Be super safe on the water. Cars don't sink, boats do.
consider rerouting the exhaust through the back of the transom just at the waterline that would help keep the noise down , like the bigger jet boat do they still sound very nice and you could have a conversation with out having to yell too loud
It's great watching the Boiz work getting better and better. I've worked and played on and around boats my whole life ( I'm an old dude). the way you boiz handle yourself impressed me ( maybe the seats, but I've been there). Respect the water don't fear it and you will have a great time.
Love it! If the coolant is running that cool, check to make sure you don't have any coolant temp corrections being applied...sometimes they are being made all the way up to 130-140 degrees. Keep it up!
Man, this was so freaking cool. All I could think about was ol girl falling and getting her hair wrapped up in a pulley, but besides that this build has perfectly captured the vibes that I got watching my first boostedbois video when y’all flew to Florida with engine parts in suitcases and fully built the Integra
Nice work guys, job well done. Those little boats are really nicely designed. 46 m.p.h. is pretty decent considering you weren’t able to trim it up or anything. It’ll be great to see what a turbo will do for speed, maybe get 60 m.p.h. out of her would be pretty awesome. 👍👍🇨🇦
Supercharge it. Turbo you have to worry about oil feed and drain lines. I simple supercharger will be great. Plus it's different from your usual turbo stuff
@@Rx_Lee something like a jackson racing/eaton/magnuson unit sure, but a centrifugal that doesn't mount directly to the engine wouldn't have to be k24 specific, something like a rotrex c30-94 or a vortech v5, you'd just need a bracket and belt and then bring your own charge piping
imagine hearing vtech kicking in lol. prob cant because of how a boat works but just imagine :D. very awesome jet boat cant wait to see the project evolve
I leave my sand trap open all the time so it's continually dumping the sand and debris out the back of the boat. If you have enough flow so she doesn't over heat it will save you some time dumping your sand trap all the time if you run shallow sandy areas. Lookin good.
You should do water injection into the exhaust so you dont cook the fuel cell. When you go Turbo, you could do liquid intercooled too since you have all that cold water around
@@erichenderson8425 Not as much as you would think, if it is steam you are referring too. 90% of freshwater boats have water cooled manifolds. It actually doesn’t steam much at all because the cool lake water is able to keep the exhaust at a very reasonable temp.
So cool that you guys had such a good test rip in the jet boat. Keep up with the progress so you guys can enjoy this thing as much as possible for the rest of the summer.
Been waiting on this boat! Make sure to get a hard plastic skid like Cleetus and them have. I’m ready to see a 600hp jet boat and you blow past everyone else with a jet stream lol
Need to add a water loop in there to let the engine get up to proper temp, and only pull in cool water when needed, as if pulling from a radiator. The super cool water constantly is not helping it at all and likley throwing some warmup stuff into the ECU calibrations.
Congrats y'all, a lot of work went into this build and I'm so happy you had a successful test outing. This things going to be absolutely insane when you've got her how you want her Version 1.0...
Gotta get those trips in with Cleetus and crew sooner rather than later! Looks awesome and it's going to be stupid fast from the views of that test! Keep it up!
You ever have that moment while watching a video where you realize "dam they have came a long way, I've been watching them for years" etc. Went from watching Kyle mess around in a Honda Civic to picking up speed boat exhaust in a porsche lol my dude made it 💪🏽
Man I’m so excited to see the K-BOAT (possible name maybe) ripping on the water, I was starting to think it wasn’t gonna hit the water this summer! I’m definitely looking forward to seeing you turbo and modify it, give it and Wyatt’s diesel truck their own mini series too, thanks for the awesome and ever changing content Kyle ~ the editing and overall quality of the videos is incredible these days as well!
you can tell from the video towards the end the boat is trimmed too low. once they get that and the poly on I wouldn't be surprised if they pick up 10mph or more. My brother has a 18 foot I/O boat wtih a 5.3 truck motor in it. when he gets on plane there is about 12-18 inches of the hull in the water. significantly less drag that way.
If you turbo it, you might want to invest into some boat trim tabs. They have automatic ones, but they will hopefully prevent the boat from flipping backwards which for a small boat and plenty of acceleration can. This will keep the boat on plane or try to at best because nothing is perfect. lol stay safe and have fun
Looks like a ton of fun.. congrats on getting it where it is... I might suggest putting the exhaust below the swim deck. Where it idles under water to muffle the sound..one other thing I would do Is instead of hand throttle do a pedal like James' drag boat mounted to the floor. But all around great job 👏 👍
You want to run the exhaust pipe straight through the back under the water platform, but above the jet pump there are exhaust flappers for marine use and as long as the exhaust headers are above the end of the pipe exit you should be fine you might have to use a section of flexible exhaust pipe just before the back wall ..... Awesome build Kyle and Wyatt !!! If you are concerned about water level on exterior, mark the water line on the exterior, with weight of 4 people in it, approximately were it would exit the back
Bro you gotta slap a tiny turbo on it. Quick spooly boi. With the fab work you guys are pulling off, you should easily be able to fit that and still get the seats over it.
Would be interesting to put a coolant/water pressure sensor on the engine and see when you the boat is at speed does the pressure of the coolant/water increase. edit: Just saw in the video you guys already thought of the pressure sensor
The faster the jet pump impeller spins the more engine water pressure the pump will make. They already did the best thing by over sizing the water outlet to relieve all the pressure
I like the safety commitment with everyone in pfd cleetus dose so many boat videos without any life saving devices worn. That's honestly a basic legal boat safety requirement. I won't even take my kayak out on a calm lake without my pfd on for safety.
All the right tools at ur disposal and he is cutting the unsafest way with a razor blade and no handle. I love it. That's as real as it gets for anybody. Lol. Screw walking 20ft for the right razor blade. U guys are so fricken awesome.
