FIRST TIME HEARING SHINee "Dear Name" | Reaction Video 

Hi! New subscriber here in the hope that you react to more SHINee (pronounced like "shiny"). The original by IU (pronounced each letter. I. U. "eye-you") is so good. SHINee sung this on her show called IU's Palette. I hope you liked her original one! She's so talented. When you see the original, you can tell also how good SHINee did covering her song. SHINee (and IU) debuted in 2008. SHINee was originally a 5 member group but unfortunately one member, Jonghyun, passed away in 2017. SHINee still carries on as a 4 member group that will forever be five members. Regarding who's who: at 3:01. That's Onew. He is the leader of SHINee and the oldest. One of my favorite voices of all time. at 4:21. That's Minho. He does have a deep soothing voice. He does a lot of the rapping and talk-singing in SHINee's songs but his singing voice is also amazing. at 4:57. That's Taemin. He and Jimin are actually good friends. He just left for the military in May, the last one to go. He's an incredible dancer and vocalist. He's also the youngest member of SHINee. at 5:39. That's Key. He is SHINee's fashionista, like he's actually paid as senior stylist. He sings a lot but also raps quite a bit. All of them have amazing vocals and their harmonies are heavenly. Each of them can basically do everything: sing, dance, rap, visuals, write lyrics, etc. They are legends. At 7:00. Yes, that's IU listening to them covering her song. She loved it. Thank you! You can really trust, these guys never disappoint. They've been through a lot, but they still have the most stable career in K-pop and are attracting more and more new fans to this day. SHINee are famous for their live performances. Their harmony of voices is really a bit magical, that's why i love their ballads so much. They have always been experimentalists, so their discography is very diverse.

SHINee, IMHO, has the best voices in Kpop. Right out of the gate with their 2008 debut song, "Replay", they were powerhouses. When their 5 very unique voices blend together, they produce the most heavenly harmonies ever heard by the industry. They are legendary in the Kpop world. Here is some info regarding who's who: @ 3:01: Onew - (pronounced On-you) Vocalist and dancer. Leader of the group and eldest; debuted at 18; now 31 (intl. age). Honey vocals, very rich and warm (you liked his voice with Rose). Hits the high notes and has a record in Korea for holding the longest, sustained note at 40+ seconds (you can see this on YT). Songwriter; Actor; Soloist. On a whim, he wanted to try Opera and performed "Nessun Dorma" at one of their concerts --- KILLED IT! He can also tap dance, spin anything on his fingers - including a chair - and has a killer ttakbam. As a leader, Onew is very kind, gentle, & nurturing. Can be quite quiet at times, but is also quite the comedian when he gets going. He is the glue that holds the group together with his quiet support and encouragement. Visual of the group; debuted at 16; now 29 (intl age). Deep, velvety voice, but can also sing higher as well. He has a slight lisp. Minho writes his own rap segments; songwriter; prolific actor; One solo song. Minho is called "Flaming Charisma" because he is EXTREMELY competitive and good in just about all sports: soccer, basketball, relay racing, high-dive; high-jump, etc. He does not like to lose. Minho is a excellent actor and has been in the most dramas of all of them. He is also the biggest SHINee fan of all. Attends other SHINee members solo events. Key's bickering buddy and Taemin's big brother, very loving and supportive. Would give Taemin the moon if possible. Solo MV to check out: "Home". @ 4:57 - Taemin. Youngest member (maknae); debuted at 14, currently 27 & in the military until November, 2022. However, what you may not know is that when he first debuted at 14, he couldn't sing due to immature vocal cords. When his vocal cords matured, he still couldn't sing. His nickname was "Tone Deaf" and was told he didn't have a voice for singing. Of course, management at that time didn't understand Taemin's stubborn tenacity. With the tutelage of fellow embers (best vocalists in Kpop) Onew & Jonghyun, Taemin surpassed their non-existent expectations. In fact he so destroyed their expectations that in 2014, at just 21, he became SM's first-ever male soloist from an active boy group. From that moment on he was dubbed SM's "ACE" and that became his new nickname for the company. He has debuted four times in three different generations of Kpop. Another fun fact is that Taemin, known within the industry as the best Kpop dancer, was totally self-taught. He got interested in dancing after seeing Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal". Then he started watching MVs and copying the dancing in front of his mirror. His popping/locking abilities, coupled with his insane subtle moves and liquidity are what got him instantly snatched up at an open audition with SM during the first round. He was 11/12 at the time. Taemin is the maknae (youngest) of the group and has been raised with SHINee. He's a interesting mix of all of them and has absorbed their collective talents like a sponge! He is a chameleon and changes his style, voice, attitude according to which group he's with or acting as a soloist. Taemin is a MONSTER on stage, and his charisma is mesmerizing. Piercing eyes and stare. He is extremely intelligent, deep, and thoughtful. Very humble guy who is a known workaholic, dedicated, and will dance 17-hours straight when necessary until he meets his standard of perfection, described as being like tofu with a core of iron. Also takes no bs and can be quite savage when necessary. Gets what he wants whether from his SHINee hyungs or SM. Spoiled rotten by his SHINee hyungs but also very loving towards them. He has a more prolific solo career than the rest. Other MVs to check out: "Want", "Move", "Press Your Number", "Thirsty", "Drip Drop", "Sayonara Hitori", "Flame of Love", "Danger" (solo debut song) and so, so, many more. @ 5:29 - Key. rapper, vocalist, dancer; debuted at 16; now 29 (intl age). Nasal tones and very versatile. Can really hit those high notes. Has a sing/rap style that flows nicely. After Taemin, Key is the next-best dancer of the group. Songwriter. Actor; Soloist; Variety show host. He is the SASSIEST of the group. No BS with him; tells it like it is and is quite the comedian. He and Minho are total opposites, but love each other even when they bicker endlessly...lol. Key is the fashionista of the group and the actual fashion designer for their stages. Key can also memorize choreos just by watching them once. Key is Taemin's surrogate 2nd Mom after Jonghyun's death and tries to keep Taemin under control....alas, Key is just as savage and uncontrollable...lol. Solo MVs to check out: "One of Those Nights", "I Wanna Be", "Forever Yours", "Cold". Jonghyun, our angel - vocalist, rapper, dancer; AKA Bling, Bling. Debuted at 18. VERY powerful, rich, most versatile voice, slightly nasal. This man was probably the best vocalist Kpop had ever heard, just phenomenal. High notes were no problem for him. He could also rap quite well and I think the 3rd best of the group (as they all can rap). Prolific songwriter (wrote many of SHINee's songs, and songs for other artists and was the first idol to write all the songs for his own albums. Could play several instruments (including being quite talented with the Kazoo); musical genius; Book author. Jonghyun wore his heart on his sleeve and thought very deeply about things. He was most often the one who cried the easiest, especially during moving performances. He also cared deeply about people and social issues. Jonghyun and Taemin knew each other before meeting the other SHINee members, as they were trainees together before being assigned to the group. As such, elder JH took Taemin under his wing and became, as JH put it, "Taemin's 2nd. mother". He was very protective of Taemin. JH also designated himself as Taemin's fan club president, attended Taemin's concerts, even delaying his own concert by 2 days just so he could attend Taemin's 1st solo concert with Onew. He was so proud of Taemin's singing growth and hardwork. Sadly, we lost Jonghyun to his life-long battle with chronic depression in 2017. This was devastating to SHINee, but their bond helped them to pull it together and continue on to keep Jonghyun's dream of SHINee forever alive. As they say, SHINee will always be 5 = 5HINee. Now, JH is their guardian angel and with them in spirit. In some MVs, like "Atlantis", you can see they still leave spots open for him in their choreo. Shinee also know are King's of live performances and trendsetters of the industry. Missing jonghyun he is one of the best vocalist of all time and know as the standard for vocalist.

This is what I like to this group, no auto tune, no backing vocals, harmony is really on point and lastly they sing it live. They're really serious with their craft. Mostly some singers when they sing live, it's differ from their recorded one. I also like Radwimps they sound the same in their mv and when performing.

SHINee's version of "Dear Name" is different than IU's original version, so if you haven't heard the original version I encourage you to check it out. If you pay attention to the lyrics of the song you will see why this song is so meaningful to SHINee -- SHINee's version of the song is dedicated to Jonghyun, SHINee's main vocalist who passed away 3 years ago. So the "Dear Name" they are talking about is Jonghyun. SHINee is pronounced Shiny -- as in shiny diamonds or shiny stars -- their name has a double ee to show just how brilliant they shine. Fun fact: IU's song "Gloomy Clock" -- one of her older songs -- was wrote by Jonghyun. Jonghyun and IU were really good friends and when she heard "Gloomy Clock" she asked him to give it to her. Jonghyun always said that after hearing IU sing "Gloomy Clock" he knew the song was meant for her, and in hindsight he thinks he might have subconsciously wrote the song with her in mind. Because IU and Jonghyun were so close, that is why she was surprised that SHINee chose to sing "Dear Name" out of all of her songs, because she knows the deep meaning the lyrics have for all of them. The order you see the members of SHINee sitting in, is the order that they always sit or stand in since debut days. They will always stand with Onew on the left, Taemin next to him, (Jonghyun in the middle,) Minho next and Key on the right. SHINee’s Vocals and Harmonies are the best thing there is. They are insane LIVE PERFORMERS.. but they don’t even have to dance to mesmerize the audience. Their BALLADS are exquisite coz of their different vocal tones and harmonies.
