Then he got a photo of himself, his family, his sister Sherrie and Steve Perry sitting at the table for dinner!! Ironically, Steve wrote this song for Sherrie (that really was his gf Sherrie in the video) because she was jealous of the woman in Journey's "Separate Ways " video.
According to Steve, he and another song writer friend were up very late one night. And Sherrie had, had enough. And told Steve that she was going to bed. As she walked away, he said to her........Oh Sherrie! Steve said that he then turn to his friend and said, there's a song in that!! And thus Oh Sherrie came to be!

Steve got soul. This song was from his solo album Street Talk, which was more RnB than the stuff he did with Journey. A couple other good songs from this album are “Foolish Heart,” and “She’s Mine.”
Twon… I totally get it, I feel the same way. I’ve been listening to them since I was about 12 years old… Like 1978. All these years later, I can’t get enough of his voice… There’s no better. Seriously. Have you watched, “ anyway you want it” or “Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’” yet? Those were early songs for them also there’s a really beautiful one from 1996. I think it is called When You Love a Woman. That one will have you on the floor crying it’s so beautiful.
