This is Grandma from Texas. Thank you for reacting to this video. I will be 70 years old next month. I have been a Christian since I was 16. I have heard this beautiful old hymn sung every which way. This rendition is my favorite by far. Somehow it seems as though this is the way this song was meant to be sung. This Brazilian metal singer gives us the version of this song that it has been waiting for 250 years for someone to be able to do. I was not a metal fan before Dan Vasc's Amazing Grace. Am now. He has worked for years to perfect that voice and be able to put that power into his singing and it shows. The harmonica is a childhood gift from his deceased father. This song touches people so deeply many want to know if he is Christian; he has stated he is, specifically Methodist. He put this out for Easter. He has well over 200 videos out there, mostly secular in nature showing his progression from good to stellar. This is the best version of this beloved classic I will ever hear. I love how raw & delicate he started the song even with the slight echo & with each verse exposing more talent & intensity. Dan Vasc has a God given talent that he has perfected into what it is today. He sang this song the way it was MEANT to be sung with such respect, emotion & with a POWERFUL impact. I FELT the presence of GOD!!! This is the absolute very BEST version of Amazing Grace that I've EVER heard in my ENTIRE life & I'm old (LOL). Dan Vasc is amazing. I believe he has classical training as his base. Kind of random, but every time I see one of his videos, I'm always reminded what poor posture I have, and I immediately sit up straighter. 😆 And yes, that last bit was all one breath. His control is awesome.
Dan stepping out of his comfortzone - that was hilarious, clearly you don't know this guy - he's annihilated the concept of comfortzone. He sings everything from folksongs to opera, to pop, to broadway musicals, to the heaviest power metal. You gotta go deep into this rabbithole - it's DEEP!!!
I think Dan's "zone" is beyond huge - just go to his channel and you will find so much amazing and different music. There is something there for everyone.

"Voice is the only instrument fashioned by God", having said that, I am a recovering alcoholic in AA. This lovely Spiritual is our unofficial "anthem." I also happen to live down the block from a beautiful Catholic Church in an Irish neighborhood. Dan's use of the harmonica, his dad gave him when he was a boy, lends a Celtic feel to the song. We hear bagpipes playing this song all the time. Usually for funerals. It's like Shubert's "Ave Maria" for Italian funerals.

You will see Dan performing with his band Fearless and Davi his brother playing the bass guitar as well as his other friends who make up his band. Fabio a mentor he has always looked up to was on tour with his band Rhapsody and during it he did a re-route and traveled all the way to Brazil to Dan's home to perform his song with him and create this video. You will see the metal side in this song. I also recommend reacting to Dan's performance of Angels We Have Heard on High which shows his operatic talent. Dan has had extensive education, training and experience in opera and classical music which you can really see highlighted here. They are both highly powerful videos to react to 💖.
Dan's vocals were so amazing from register to register. I was disappointed that you didn't mention the message he was delivering. Great songs include lyrics which I believe are important.
Dan Vasc has an extraordinarily wide vocal range. Consider his renditions of the Star Spangled Banner Handel’s Hallelujah and Nessun Dorma, for example.
Dan has a "Vasc" catalogue. Enjoy the journey. My fave is Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar the best ot dozens of covers. In Amazing Grace he tells the background story of a slave trader turned firebrand preacher just perfectly. I'm glad you liked it
Thanks for the reply. No disrespect intended, just some frustration. So many reactors comment on their perceived belief that metal is all screaming. Yes there are metal bands that are like that and quite a few are really good. I just turned 71 and have been in the music scenes since the late 60's, oldies, rock, hair bands, metal , punk (I was in the LA punk scene), death, hardcore, rockabilly, and even Charlie Parker my favorite and other jazz artists. I'll listen to your reactions to other songs in the future.Thanks.
Hi Wolli, if you liked this song from Dan Vasc, you really will like A Kiss From A Rose with Vilot Orlandi. Their voices blend so well together and it makes you feel so emotional. I don't like a lot of heavy, heavy rock, but he really knows how blend any music.
I can honestly say that for me this is perhaps not the best, but certainly the most impressive performance of Amazing Grace. One man, so many voices, but all so beautiful. Yes, I like this.
Great singing but you missed the whole message. GOD’S AMAZING GRACE is what Dan is singing about! Why didn’t you talk about that?? Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast”. People talk about the lyrics of other songs but they “forget” to say anything about this song 🤔 That’s ok because God’s word says in Isaiah 55:11 “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”. So even though a “metal singer” sings Amazing Grace, God gets all the glory! Now that’s worth singing about! Loved the video and you have a great day sir.
