Patsy was only 30 years old when she was killed in a plane crash. She had a magnificent voice. I think you would enjoy "Walkin' After Midnight", it's a little more up tempo. There were no music videos at this time, it was just a singer performing on a TV show so it was filmed and thankfully we get to see it decades later. A 1985 movie was made of her life called "Sweet Dreams" and starred Jessica Lange as Patsy.

Patsy Cline had one of the best country voices around. She had so many great hits such as "She's Got You", "When I Get Through With You", "Sweet Dreams", "So Wrong", "Leavin' on Your Mind", "Walkin' After Midnight", "I Fall To Pieces" "San Antonio Rose", "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", "Half As Much", "He Called Me Baby", "Faded Love" etc. She was only 31 when she died in a plane crash in 1963. In 1985 Jessica Lange starred in the movie about Patsy's life called "Sweet Dreams. Home Free did a beautiful cover of this song recently. Please check it out.

Patsy's most beloved songs are recorded in what was called the Nashville Sound, orchestra sounds, strings, piano, backup singers. These backup singers are the Jordanaires who also backed Elvis, and that masterful piano is Floyd Cramer, also in great demand from other artists in that era, but nobody had a voice like Patsy Cline. It is Cline like line, K-line, not like clean. Patsy is considered the female country voice that all others are measured against, she's the GOAT. She also was the first to have real crossover appeal to pop radio as well.

I see that others have already suggested many of her incredible songs. This one was written by a young Willie Nelson of all things. And I love the fact that she is a true alto; she can really get down there in that husky range and yet she sings with such clarity and beautiful tone like a songbird, and she always brings the emotion, whether it's upbeat and happy, or wistful and reflective like in Crazy. What's interesting is that even though she died at age 30, she was quite the personality. She was a force of nature. She went through an awful lot of difficulty growing up, from poverty to being sexually abused by her father, she also got really sick at one point and couldn't sing at all for a while when she was young. But she's a survivor and she was definitely somebody you wouldn't win an argument with, laugh.

There are performances vs videos. It used to be artists showing their talent and was recorded. Since the starting of MTV, videos are made for visual entertainment. Singers and bands don't have to have much talent, they just need to put on a show. I think its great you checked out Patsy Cline!! Fabulous voice.

Just the era of true music videos basically started 70s with like group Queen... but really came of age when all the key acts had the music industry make videos as MTV began in like in 1981 and was strong though the 90s for all day videos before cell phones and the internet. This song was very early 60s still 50s style that crossed over country to pop. Most music of these eras even into the 70s was concerts and from TV variety and prime time shows and maybe later called a - Official Video labeled and created decades later as there were none made these eras. I believe Patsy's hairband in this recording was because of having a car accident and she had in 1961 and among many serious injuries she had a jagged cut on her forehead in pain and still with crutches when this was recorded.

You mentioned how so much music from the era sounded alike. At least a small part of that is the background singers on this song. The Jordanaires. They did background vocals on songs as studio artists. If you have heard anything from the 1960's, you have heard them. Saw them do a Patsy Cline tribute show in Las Vegas.

I'm 65 and I find the artist in the 40, 50, 60's all had there own distinct style and voice, not like now they all soy d the same to me. Plus now with most back ground dancers they all have real skimpy clothes on and there gestures are sexual. Back then it was simple like you said, and decent and fun. World ain't the same.
