I see the ending breakdown as a cathartic release. He's asking, almost pleading, to be taken back to Eden the majority of the song with this beautiful melody--seemingly to no avail, going unheard--so by the end he's frustrated and just lets out his anger. No longer asking, he's demanding with these harsh vocals and chugging guitars. Like you kind of hinted at, I think the ending fits perfectly when you know the lyrics and intention of the song.
And it’s followed by the closing track of not just the album, but the trilogy, EUCLID. This is the letting go, the realisation that it’s over. It’s okay to do that, it’s okay to look back and remember what once was. Most importantly it’s the healing. It’s okay to move forward and be someone new. It’s fucking beautiful
100%. He’s done asking nicely at this point, he’s rage-begging/bargaining, kind of like going through the stages of grief in the whole song. The ‘trouble’ with ST is listening to a random song off the cuff with no context, so many tracks have callbacks to previous songs and of course being a trilogy of albums there are linked metaphors and stories, and so going off one track alone doesn’t give you the full context. This track has throwbacks to Chokehold and even as far back as the EPs. It’s one of the very few ‘pitfalls’ (and I use that loosely) of this phenomenal band. It really is a listening journey from start to end.
I'm glad you liked this one! I love 'The Summoning' but it's actually one of the more lyrically simple songs on the TMBTE album, so I'm looking forward to seeing your reaction to other Sleep Token songs! If you're sticking with the TMBTE album, maybe 'Ascensionism' or 'Aqua Regia' next?
God's Angel voice indeed! Awesome reaction. Before the rest of our obsessed community bombards you, don't go "back to the beginning" at first. If you want to explore more Sleep Token, start with their masterpiece album that THIS song is on. Yeah, there's lyrical synergy that pays off, but don't go that psychotic route first. Check out Granite, Chokehold and Rain at the very least. Worship!❤
Ascensionism is next, and then try out Blood Sport (from the room below). Go into every song of theirs with zero expectations, because they will almost always be subverted. Excited to see y'all dive deeper!
Right, Vessel the singer is INSANELY TALENTED. He has and angel voice and writes amazing lyrics. He is a piano professor, plays keyboards, guitar and bass on the record. The guitarrist and the bassist are only touring members for shows Maybe he has really 6 eyes, I don't know 😅. Love your video, and hope you listen more songs from ST. You won't regret!! 🙏🏼♥️
I love to see the metaphorical veil being lifted for you guys- especially with you understanding how the lyrics carry the story of the song, keeping everything else relevant and cohesive regardless of how far they stray from the initial feel of the song. some people take much more than two songs to really grasp it! again, cool reaction and looking forward to watching more ^^
New sub here. Im newer to sleep token too. They've been my sons favorite for couple years. My favorite song is GRANITE but they are all so good. Looking forward to more Sleep Token reactions here. 😊😊😊 MUSIC🎶IS🔮MAGIC❣️
Thank you for giving them another try. To be honest, you can't really go wrong with any song in their catalogue, some just take a little longer to click than others, but they're all great. Jump right in and enjoy the journey ^ ^
if you have issues with songs sounding like different songs, oops. Genre mixing isn't going anywhere. Bad Omens, Bmth and sleep token all do it and they're the biggest names in metal atm, as I'm sure you know. Surprises in music are my favorite, always has been :D Just enough of every genre that you get to enjoy it without growing tired of it. Yummy.
Just found you guys and I love the content! I'll be here from now on. I just wanted to throw out there that I think The Summoning is a way to draw in the metalheads. They are put into the metal subgenres but they transcend genres. It's almost like you said a "generic" metalcore song until they bring in the synth and then the soul/r&b sound to kind of ease the metal scene into their sound. Kind of gives them a soft opening to what the rest of their music is about.
I'm new to the channel and loved the reaction. You guys should go through and do every single Sleep Token song in order. The Sleep Token community will come along for the ride! It only gets better than what you've heard so far. You got a new sub here!
We received a few requests already, I'm not sure if those that were requested were in a particular order but I'll look into it. Thank you for the comment 😀
This is my favourite song, closely followed by Ascensionism, but as for The Summoning, it took me 8 listens to get used to it and then when I saw them play it live it was so so good! Oh, and on a side note, Vessels dance moves change with the music styles too, so he actually goes RnB style. Brilliant to watch.
