This week, Becca and her dad Nick continue with the van build and attack the kitchen worktop, including installing the gas hob, tap and sink.
Becca shares a money saving tip for others building their own kitchen in a motorhome. She spent £20 and saved £150 for a simple swap out for the tap. They also make their own sink to save a few more £££.

A pipe bender would have been handy. Safer to have contiguous copper pipe rather than multiple compression fittings

I have the same tap, bought from Amazon. For the price they work very well and well worth the price. When you attach a new back panel you should screw it to the cabinet so you have access if needed

Loving you and your dad, lovely relationship. My dad passed 12 years ago, before I got in to caravanning (he was a caravanner) and I’m gutted I can’t share my adventures with him. Today would have been his 77th Birthday. 😢 Keep up the work. If you’re ever near Rawdon, do shout. Be great to see the van.

You looked beat at the start of this vlog. Then you showed us the wonderful free kitchen top and it seemed to open up your jolly happy self. The kitchen looks amazing and with that now in place you can defo see how wonderful your new house is going to be like. That green on your sofa looks amazing and your mum has done a wonderful job on sewing all the cushions. Hope you are feeling better and enjoyed snuggling with your cat. Is there enough of the smart counter stuff left to replace the plywood drawer fronts so that the unit matches (it might weigh a bit less as well)? Don't forget to screw on the new back panel for the oven so that Dad has easier access in future. It's too late for this build but you should have got Mom & Dad a cheap track saw for an anniversary present, they are absolutely the best tools for cutting straight lines in sheet materials. It's also far too late but I would have reversed the positions of the hob and the sink which would have meant that you could have used your bargain pull out tap to wash things off just outside the door. My dogs say not to get any ideas about stealing their big water bowl after seeing your steel sink.

how do Becca , first off, glad to see you back on enthusiasic form withyou and your Dad tackling the kitchen counter. You know what I found really brill about the counter? The fact that the sink was made from a bowl your Mum and Dad have had for 43 years. Your average person might have a bowl for a few years but now, that bowl and its memories begins a new life as your sink and you carry those memories on. Thats brilliant on so many levels. I have to say its looking great and that money saving tip for the tap is inspired! Your child like wonder and enthusiasm when the job was done made the video shine for me. Lots of folk build vans but you arent just building a van,you're building a friend to share adventures with, and putting little bits of your family memories within it. Its awesome. Much respect to you and your incredibly talented Mum and Dad- Kenny

Glad the universe delivered with the counter top 🎉 Loving the progress and getting so close. I’m wanting to do my own van build from the UK in 2 years but I’m getting quite nervous as it will be entirely on my own no help with limited tools. I’ve realised I’ll probably have to rent a workshop and it’s going to take a long time 😬 But I’m determined to do it, as want my forever van now and to take it round the world and eventually back here to NZ 😍

i notice you have your water pump fitted and all plumbed, you might want to consider fitting a strainer before the pump to protect the pump, and an accumulator after the pump, will help make the pump last longer and will stop the pump from contually stopping and starting when the tap and shower arent in use, and will give you a steady stream of water instead of a pulsing stream

Hi Becca, love the kitchen, the sink was a great idea, I have a very similar tap (eBay £17.99 )…. just a bit of advice, the weight that retracts the hose, I found it knocked against the inside of my cabinet when driving, so I wrapped a sponge around it, not sure if yours will hit, couldn,t tell from the video, but worth looking to see how close it is to the nearest panel… could be very annoying on long journeys… x

Dad: Yes is the answer. Would have preferred not to use them but it was too tight for a S bend.

Make sure that you get all the gas appliances checked and signed off by a suitably qualified gas engineer before you use them. It's not just for your (and your cat's) safety but the insurance won't pay out without a safety certificate.
