We want to let you know that we are aware of an issue in the Landmarks London City Pack for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This issue affects a small number of the 400+ landmarks available, where they do not match up with the quality of those already in-sim. A fix this is already in development, and will be made available very soon through Orbx Central, and - as soon as it is approved - in the Microsoft Flight Simulator in-sim Marketplace.

I agree with the sentiment of the video but London definitely doesn't looks stunning on its own. Believe it or not the orbix pack is an improvement on the base sim imo, as long as you fly 1000ft or higher. With the pack you get a lot of breadth of different landmarks but no depth - they're crap up close. Do agree with Gripper Sim though that the standard isn't high enough. The bar is set high in fs2020 and orbx have missed the mark.

That is astonishing. I've watched this aghast. Orbx have built a reputation as a byword for quality over the years - and then they produce this, on launch day for the highest profile launch of a flight simulator, well, ever. Have they accidentally released an early development build? It's just bizarre.

Necramonium Yep. They hoped people had downloaded Flight Simulator, wowed by the graphics and in their euphoria, downloaded the London City pack in their excitement without scrutinising it too much. Shameful though. Good company normally quality. Hope they get burned bad for this though. They surely deserve it.

But then have you seen the X-Plane 'True Earth GB south' with it's over saturated god awful ZL16 at best textures, awful OS road placement and prominent features that they couldn't even be arsed to place properly onto the ortho's, so you see the actual building on the ground on the ortho next to the 3d model they just plonked down.

I've just said in my own comment that maybe it was a rush job to meet the release date. It's the only 'landmarks' pack of the releases and I haven't heard any negativity towards the airports. While MS/Asobo have done a fantastic job with the game, I do find it odd that they left a major city like London so lacking. Maybe they asked Orbx to fill the gaps last minute? I don't know them at all, so they could have easily just screwed up big time. Let's see if or how quickly it gets fixed.

Thanks Mr Gripper, almost bought this but not anymore, been dissapointed with Orbx for a while now, True Earth London for XPlane was pants low res Canary wharf, no night lighting on the skyscrapers, tower block stuck in tower bridge, broken westminster bridge, no traffic on bridges, no need to fix as we buy it anyway and they have cornered the market, got too big and lazy, they need some competition to buck them up. said similar on their forum and post got deleted.

Not really, we can just protest ourself as consumer by not buying it.it’s up for the seller what quality of product they sells and up to us consumer what we buy, Microsoft/Asobo has no control about what they put on their marketplace, it should only about whether the stuffs there tell with each other or not

The ending part, specifically from the Eiffel Tower to the view of Manhattan, was EXCEPTIONALLY well edited, choreographed and scripted. I especially liked your take on flight simulation in general. Very concisely presented. If the frame rate and stutters were better, I would have mistaken it for a trailer from Asobo. Well done!

there is no fix lol, they just can't do any better than Asobo, since it would be too much for the graphics card. So they just tried to copy the actual visuals.. but there's no point

Mathieu Guignès I agree with you regarding cities not being able to be improved and the default being impossible to top. However, I believe the airports can be topped. Flightbeam brought out their Denver for msfs 2020 and it hands down beat the default premium deluxe one. From terminal wall reflections, to accurate apron textures, to sloped and bumpy taxiways and properly sized and shaped terminal windows.

The jetways are also accurate in the flightbeam version. The fs community is growing and we need to come together to inform eachother that there are different tiers of addon developers and some are better than others. We shouldn’t just rush in to buy any addons without looking at real reviews first. Flightbeam and Flytampa have shaped scenery development since fs 9 and have done revolutionary things. That’s why I have optimism for those two surviving in msfs 2020.

I’m pleased to say that I DIDN’T jump on the MSFS bandwagon and I’m sticking with XP11 for the foreseeable future and just hoping that OrbX continue producing their TE range of addons for X-Plane. If they don’t, then they don’t and I’ll be ok with that because I have more than enough enhanced scenery packages to keep me going for a long time to come. For many reasons, I consider that XP has advantages over MSFS at the moment (that may change in the future of course). The replay facility in XP is very important for me - MSFS doesn’t have that at the moment, but there are other advantages as well which others have mentioned in recent weeks.

When I look at the tireless, groundbreaking work asobo and Microsoft have done in transporting this genre years and years ahead of where it otherwise would be ,and for orbx to take a big brown ugly dump into the middle of it is nothing short of disgusting ,ugly 1d low resolution shite Into what is a stunning leap in visuals is shocking ,shame on you fix it or risk losing alot of loyal customers including myself

Thank you so much for this , I was close to buying this because I saw another video where it was nighttime and a lot of the videos of different colours of lights looked amazing but now I will wait for a update to this pack , I know it’s only £6 , but I’d rather put that into the Leeds airport which looks good 👍

I purchased this via the marketplace. And I’m also disappointed. I’m emailing them to complain and also MS. Will I get a refund? I doubt it.

Subscribed as this man really puts in a lot of work and is not afraid to criticize. Mainly though it is just the sheer quality of the videos.

This is exactly what I was afraid of...that's why I called it "the Orbx Bug" in other comments (also on other channels). Floating buildings, submerged runways etc. Don't even think about contacting Orbx because "elevation errors" are not their problem. I really feel sorry for all those who saved their money and were looking forward to flying around the globe glancing at al the beauty displayed in the previews. My advice is to postpone buying add-ons until it's clear what benefit it has for your system and for your personal flying experience. Happy landings everyone ;-)

I bought it already. Although some of the buildings are v.poor, I coudln’t handle the city area being so bad with autogen buildings. I needed the gherkin, cheesegrater etc. That area is near where I used to work so the overall view as flying over is ok for now. If they update the details, will they update automatically in game - how does that work?

Hi Grippersim, Love your stuff and thanks for calling Orbx out on this one. I jumped at this too quick because I love Orbx stuff. I have the whole of the UK and Popham and Compton Abbas. I fly from Popham. I contacted Orbx because I saw they had released an upgraded version, but I bought mine through the MS Marketplace. I expect it will upgrade at some stage, but London City doesnt appear in my Ortbx Central, and when I asked them about the upgrade they said "As you did not make the purchase through OrbxDirect, I am actually unable to help you!!" So I think I will be better to make purchases direct in future.

I’d just watched a live video where the ORBX pack was demonstrated, and having seen the an ‘Alpha’ flight along the Thames, with the bridges under water, I thought the ORBX looked better and I’d buy it. Now having seen your exposé, all I can do is say a big thank you, for stopping me from wasting my money on this rubbish. They have made a big mistake here, news of this blatant ripoff will get circulated, and I doubt anyone will buy ANY of their products, in future, I know I won’t. Many thank Noel

This post should be drilled in the brain of all the small brains judging msfs on alpha/beta footage or expecting that the sim will die on day one. Orbx just makes textured boxes. Asobo can do better textured boxes. Wait at least a year before throwing money at these hacks.

Gripper: Thanks for saving me the money and great disappointment. I was going to purchase the Orbx stuff but, as you say, there is no excuse for them to release this kind of krappe. How can MS even allow something like this to be released. Did they not check it? I can only hope Carenado does not pull the same stuff on their add-on aircraft.

What are your download speeds and building textures on? Do you use manual cashe for the areas? I use high-end and they are not that crisp on my default sim
