My drum set needed a low snare drum, so I did a floor tom snare drum conversion. The DIY project started with a 13" tom to which I added floor tom legs and snares with a strainer. The tom was a Pearl Masters Custom, so I bought all Pearl hardware from Drum Factory Direct.
The inspiration came from a combination of feeling bad about leaving such a nice drum on the shelf for so long and seeing Larnell Lewis use a low snare drum on his setup.
This video shares what I learned converting the tom into a low snare drum and the steps I took to complete the project.
