Cool unboxing! BTW, you should just save the activated carbon for when you ever have to get rid of meds, discoloration, or fowl smells from the water. Instead, use that extra bag of biomax along with the one you had marinating in other tank to increase the biological capacity of the filter. Or you can just add another sponge.

Yes I ment to bring that up. It is in fact a metal mesh on top. I have seen rusty salt water versions also. It could be replaced with plastic if your handy like that.

Just got the white one today. I love the fact that it is so clean looking. Does that back snap in all the way to the base? my back seems a little wobbly, Almost wish there was away to anchor it to the tank . Cannot wait to get it set up and get my fish in it.

Will be really cool. A point of caution however. The "vent" on the lid is metal. You may want to convert it to something that won't rust. I have already seen a few of the 5 gallons with that issue. Would make a good video though. :)

also because they are surface breathers and the reason you get the edge is to fill it to the top for the asthetic

I notice the tank extends about 2 inches around front and sides of the base, is that safe. They always say match the base to the tank for safety reasons.

Your videos inspired us to order one of these today. As we wait for it to come in, we were trying to figure out what the footprint of the stand actually is...all the info we see is for the tank dimensions but we need to find out how big (how small) a stand we need before it comes in. Have you ever measured the base piece and if so could you share that with us? Much appreciated and again thanks for posting.

Does your filter rattle inside the back ? Is sounds like my motor is heading the inside of it and I cannot get it to stop unless I hold it a certain way. I tried stuffing paper towel in the back to hold it in place but it does not help .

Its made to be that way. So in this case its OK. Most tanks aren't made to work that way.

I don't think either is good for bettas. Mostly because of the turbulence of the limited surface area.
