Track number 3 on Flyleaf's album Memento Mori. Woop, 2 videos in one night, and only 2 more left. I think I've got time for one more video tonight but then I'm done for today. Enjoy :]
Luke16:19-31 This song was inspired by the parable Jesus told about a certain rich man and a beggar named Lazarus. In the parable the rich man wasted his money on himself and pointless things while Lazarus, who was covered in painful sores, laid at his gate begging for scraps from the rich man's table. One day these men died. Lazarus went to heaven and was with Father Abraham and the saints. The rich man went to hell and, as quoted from The Message bible, "In hell and in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham in the distance and Lazarus in his lap. He called out, ‘Father Abraham, mercy! Have mercy! Send Lazarus to dip his finger in water to cool my tongue. I’m in agony in this fire.’ (Luke16:23-24)" After Abraham explained that, (Luke16:26) "There is a huge chasm set between us so that no one can go from us to you even if he wanted to, nor can anyone cross over from you to us,’" the rich man begged Abraham to send Lazarus to his house to warn his family about "this place of torment", or hell, so that they would not be in agony like is in. Now, these are some of the lyrics: "The chasm isn't fixed yet," is part of the Lazarus and the rich man parable, but has a greater meaning to it and has to deal with the end times, and "please, give me something, I'm so thirsty," and "oh please, let me warn them. Don't you come here, don't bring anyone here," are defiantly taken from the parable above. "Please, give me something, I'm so thirsty," is about how, for example, the rich man, who is tormented in hell, wants comfort and mercy. "Oh please, let me warn them. Don't you come here, don't bring anyone here," is where, using the rich man as an example again, he desperately wants his family and friends- everyone- to not go to "the place of torment" because the rich man is alone, in agony, and tormented. This song has an EXTREMELY powerful message that should not be taken lightly by no one. www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke%2016%3A19-31&version=MSG;NIV
Sucks when you have a really awesome song and the only reason people know it is because it was on the soundtrack for a movie. I guess that's how things go. . . This is one of my favorite songs by Flyleaf. I love the way she sings about her faith.
***** Not one of my favorite but flyleaf (old at least) is one of my fav bands. Divergent was ok. I have noticed that while stuff like the hunger games and divergent are good they aren't worth the hype they get. Like they aren't worth obsessing over they are just good movies and books that i watch or read once in awhile
This totally reminds me of the parable with the poor man and Lazarus, when Lazarus is begging for just a drop of water and for God to let him warn his family/friends
I have always liked Flyleaf way b4 divergent. I groove on Lacey's voice and phrasing. I knew that Flyleaf was a Christian band. I like the sound and melody of this tune and especially the message ! Dauntless !!!
Okay, I have been a fan of Flyleaf for YEARS now. I bought this album the day it came out and I just recently read Divergent and I loved the book, but I can't tell you how hard I fangirled when I read her playlist and she had not one, but THREE Flyleaf songs on there.Omg you have no idea how much I love the author now. Plus, while I was reading the book, every time I read the word "Chasm" I immediately thought of this song. Bravo Roth, you win all of my love.
I liked this song BEFORE I liked or heard of Divergent, I like Divergent AND Flyleaf! I do agree, DAUNTLESS! But this song is very much of other things to.
This song is DEEP! It has such a powerful message! I couldn't believe I didn't like it when I first heard it. Now I can't stop listening to it. I hope Flyleaf makes more albums!
The place she speaks of is real place, she made this song with thy attention to warn people. Your here , listening, breathing, alive. If you think when we die there is nothing? woe.. We all are with faiths of our own free Will. Glad we do cause I have no attention to go to that Place .
Are we the chasm? She sings,"The chasm isn't fixed yet Take this water Drinking ever deeper Living water." And I know as a kid i drown myself in a lot of different things like bad people and drama. And when she sings,"Please give me something I'm so thirsty, I'm so thirsty," meaning as the chasm we need water to grow and be full of goodness. If we ever start to drown God is also there to pick us back up again. just my thoughts don't hate me.
+Jully Philly That's a very interesting way to relate it. Although Chasm means a difference between people, feelings and viewpoints, so like an invisible barrier so to speak. This song is in regards to the book in the bible, Luke 16:19-31, 'Lazarus & the Rich Man' In the story, it talks about a man so poor, the dogs even 'licked his sores.' It also talks about how the rich man didn't help him, so he was sent to hell. In hell, he looked up and saw Abraham in Heaven and asked 'for a drop of water because he was 'so thirsty.' Abraham told him no because there was a 'Chasm' that separated Hell from Heaven and he couldn't come down there, nor could the rich man go up there. The drama and and people you speak of, actually made you thirsty, and the people around are even thirstier. I feel Lacey is singing from an unsaved soul point of view, "Please give me something, im so thirsty, the chasm isnt fixed yet" meaning theyre still dabbling in the toxic things and havent build that barrier from darkness yet. Sorry im babbling lol I hope i helped rather than annoy you with his long paragraph lol
I had a huge stomachache and was in a particularly bad mood... bad as in sad. Then, I started to listen to Flyleaf and I was instantly calm again. I freaking
In the back of the book there is a playlist that the author made that inspired her for the book, this is one of the songs. As well as, "Again" and "Arise" by Flyleaf.
Ya know... This is my favorite song by Flyleaf. I usualy don't listin to female rock bands because I listin to 103.9. There's only......about 4 artists with a female lead singer on that channel, which are Flyleaf, Evanescence, Paramore, and Hailstorm. But I have to say this is a good band. Good job, Flyleaf~
It's just because this is one of the songs that Veronica Roth listened to while writing the book :) she used this song for the Dauntless, because of the chasm there.
this song was recommended by Veronica Roth, author the best-selling Divergent trilogy, and a movie's being made from the first book. Thats why, OMG i cant w8 till Alliegent comes out!
+Alice Wonder This is the song that got me interested in Flyleaf, started from the book...now they're practically half of what I listen to next to Fall Out Boy. Can I still call myself a fan? I mean, it doesn't really matter how you heard of them...as long as you like them and listen to more than a few songs...so can I call myself a fan?
It was a great song and same for the lyrics but i never thought so much about the chasm till now and i fell like i have to praise even more now because i dont want that to happen to me but while im still alive i do want to send out that message to people because i dont want them to go through that either
@MrStranger998 Truthfully, it's based on the story of Lazarus. The rich man was sent to Hell, while Lazarus to heaven when they both died. The rich man begged Lazarus for a drink. When he refused, he asked to at least be able to warn his friends.God refused.
@wavepsychic Honey, I had the same questions. And I still wonder. But sin is the worst disease in the world. Life on Earth is our preparation for our eternal lives, also in which we will make the decision to turn to God, or push Him aside and sin. It's not that hard to repent every night or give your heart to God, and yet, we still find it difficult.
I misheard the lyrics pretty badly. "Wake up already Link, come now. Walk away, take it all back now. Don't be quick to lick the scab off, You're swimming in space with the rest of them". good song though
@vamppilot007 Finally, someone that doesn't drown out the big picture. People tend to forget that our God is a wrathful God. He is jealous for us and doesn't like it when we serve different masters. Thank goodness that we is also a good, just, merciful, and loving God. Otherwise we'd be screwed. People can forget that sometimes too. :) Keep reaching out, Vamp. There's alot of people to pull up.
Ooh, Caps Lock. You're totally getting your point across. That aside, there are three conditions for committing a sin. One: It is wrong. Two: You know it is wrong. Three: You have a choice in doing it. Since taxes are pretty much forced, it technically isn't a sin. Also, that "FUCK!" at the end isn't necessary.
@SammiSkellington I wish that would work where I live. Virtually no one in NYC knows real music. This will be the place that first has only rap and techno music in 2025 onwards, I'd go so far as to bet.
theres a gulf between the dead and the alive....i mean spiritually dead and spiritually alive alive and though we suffer and are confused...yet we live if we have the truth,,,,, middle fingers in the air to the crap and the lies.....
