You have that person in the room, everyone looks their way towards them, their feet faces them and everyone waits for them to speak..there is too much power in that
I can't believe how rude the interviewer was to her, I've heard many interviews they had with marilyn assuming she's dumb just because she was beautiful and had blonde hair she was very intelligent people only saw her for her looks not her talent or intelligence poor marilyn :(
Kim Mann yes that's what I love about her she was never rude back to any interviewer, she handled it well even though deep down it must have upset her. I did hear she loved to read too.
Natasha Mayes RIGHT.......he was such a dick lol but back then, men were who they were and said what they wanted too........she kept right up with him though and didn't miss a beat and showed him how smart she was.
"blondes and dumb go together." Man this guy is very intelligent.... Color of hair does not correlate with intelligence. She's way more intelligent than he is.
I really don’t appreciate the way this man speaks to her but she is holding it down. Also. Girl. You were not dumb. Period. You where ahead of your time sis and the world wouldn’t have it.
If you look at many interviews from the era, a lot of times men spoke in this flirtatious tone when interviewing women. It is very disrespectful I must agree. He is conducting an interview and not on a date with her.
Should just said ex slave that’s what she was worst life ever that why called show Buisness and entertainment: detain to enter ( possession ) was actually a perfect word
So she really was not stupid in the industry should probably pretended to be stupid but she really was smart like her friend Jeanne said if she was not smart she wouldn't be so stressed out.
She wasn't stupid but she wasn't particularly intelligent either. She was reflective and sensitive and people get that mixed up with being more on the intellectual side.
@@undercoverhamster2549 ❓she wasn’t particularly intelligent - she was intelligent , so don’t mix up robotics people with people follow by their hearts....
@@annwrite1866 I don't know what you're talking about with robotics. It was no criticism of her- just some people make out she was Einstein in disguise. She was other things but she wasn't that. End of.
I love how she stood up for herself. She mentioned how it's odd that people assume you're dumb just because you take care of your appearance. It still rings true to this day.
Because basic people are jealous of very beautiful people, so they demean them by saying they're dumb.. cause they can't say anything bad about their appearance.
Whenever I saw Marilyn Monroe. .. She reminds me of Cinderella. The way she talked just same as Cinderella. I guess cinderella characteristics (voice and appearance) inspired by her.
Oh c'mon! You think it's okay for a woman to slap a man ever? You'd never say that about a man slapping a woman...stop promoting laying a hand on ANYONE over anything, let alone WORDS!
I think a lot of ppl were intimidated by her..😩 see how he's like "a lot of men are scared of u" sounds like hes speaking for himself when he says that too
@@iwilleatyourkids3472 her beauty and intelligence- many people will find that intimating. It makes them feel inferior whether they recognize it or not
@@iwilleatyourkids3472im late but there are many ppl who genuinely see "beautiful" ppl as intimidating. not in an exaggerated actual unsafe feeling ofc but just in an astonished, emotionally uneasy way
I'm so proud also to be from Brooklyn. Especially after hearing Marilyn Monroe say it. Mae West was also from Brooklyn. Born & Raised. You can hear Miss West Brooklyn accent in most of her movies. LoL. Imagine running into Marilyn on a Brooklyn street. Amazing!!!
@@dandarth-kc9cf I know. I've seen all of her interviews including the last one when she was drunk on champagne. She based a lot of her mannerisms on Betty Grable as well. Doesn't make her NOT one of a kind and the most memorable, worldly regarded icons of all time.
BlushGush I would love to find out how to talk like her. I have a lower voice a little bit (for a woman) not too deep but not high pitched either. I stutter though and talk too fast and dont really know how to hone my voice. I’ve learned the voice is also a key to appearing feminine (some believe)
The way she was cornered into the wall with a microphone shoved into her face doesn't seem like a natural position for a person to be in, but she handled it well.
She was waaaaaay ahead of her time..she existed in several planes, at the same time, that's how she found herself to feel more tortured ...she was a beautiful being, inside and out and it truly is difficult to be this perfect! Such an angel..in how she spoke, how she walked, what she looked like and how much kindness her soul had, towards this world! Compassion is the highest form of intelligence, and she had so much of both! Rip beautiful
Such a clear recording. She’s a such clever open minded woman, that’s absolutely right what she said about people’s limited mind. I feel so bad that her spouses, men didn’t give her what she truly deserved.
To all those commenting on how articulate she is, it's all the more amazing given her education level. Her diabolical childhood of being shunted between relatives, foster families and orphanages, left little time for concentration on studying. Her last formal education was at 15, and at 16 she was married off by her last foster family who were moving and didn't want to take her with them.As someone whose education was badly affected by trauma, I can vouch for how difficult it is to take anything in under such circumstances. So almost all of her education was self teaching as an adult, an amazing achievement. A woman who never stopped trying to 'better' herself.👍🏻💓
@@Confusius. no doubt about it but that doesn't change the fact that she was actually very intelligent like people who know her or acquaintance of her always said that she was never the dumb blonde she was very sensitive and very intelligent.
something about her voice is so beautiful and uncommon. It's a rare gentle voice, it would be beautiful to hear her singing a child or someone to sleep.
She wasn't dumb...she had a thirst for knowledge and was a great reader.....I love the fact that she didn't go into great detail as to why she liked Brooklyn..she just liked it..simple....She also put herself down a lot by knowing that looks don't last forever and the fact she doesn't think she is madly educated...Such a sweet person who sadly went too soon. Her beauty was something rare almost luminous...like an angel...
Proof in the details: Footage starts with the star getting preped up, adjusting her hair etc, in a "behind the scenes" video format, or a _newsfilm of a newsfilm_ . Then, towards the end of this clip the filming lights go ON and the reporters start officially asking questions for the newspiece they were doing. That is the moment Marilyn stops posing, stops doing her signature pouty lips and sex kitten glance (that had been the pre-interview bit for the still images they were taking of her) and as she answers questions her eyes shift to the most honest, endearing, attentive glow as she CAREFULLY LOOKS AT EVERY SINGLE ONE of the reporters eye to eye to answer their questions. Not for a moment she pauses with a vague glare into the distance , which a lot of other stars like to do then and now. She was paying dully attention to every single one of them and especially, gave first consideration to the one female professional there. THAT's brains and beauty, all rolled in with sensitivity, compassion. She was mesmerizing. And not a smudge or trace of mental illness in her. The world destroyed her. FOREVER MARILYN MONROE. 👑 💛
Scotland HasMyHeart 💋 Michael Powell's Scotland cliffs have always had my heart too. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jdzHkMAUYVA.html Thanks!💜 Keep a good thought for her #always!
So beautiful ! It's incredible to think a little girl like her became a so great star always under the spotlights. I would have loved that she never died
Literally asking “Do you feel as if the nation owns you?” Changed owns to possesses you instead. She responded so gracefully. “I live here” 😂Yaaaaaaaayyy
So original and sweet our Marilyn Monroe..intelligent and sophisticated...North American ne valued the real Marilyn Monroe ..Hollywood understimated her intelligence her bewuty her value....I love her originality a true Human being
Guys he wasn’t calling her dumb, he was asking her what she thinks of that concept considering she played the dumb blonde character in ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.’
We seem to want everything the same, but we know we need unique people in this world. Marilyn was one of them. You can find a million pretty blondes, but there will always be just one Marilyn Monroe.
I live in Brooklyn. Born & Raised. I always have been a big fan of Marilyn Monroe. Now I love her even more. She is so right on about the neighborhoods in Brooklyn. So many different cultures here. All in one place. Mae West was also born & raised in Brooklyn. Miss West never lost her Brooklyn accent. Love her to. There is a magic about Brooklyn. You can either love it or hate it. I would have loved to bump into Marilyn on a Brooklyn street. Sounds like a good name for a movie!
marilyn monroe 😇💝 is a natural beauty. marilyn is smart, witty, very talented, generous 💸💰 hardworking, and sweet lady, actress, dancer, singer, an amazing cook and an icon 😄🌸
Wise, sensible words from Marilyn. I'm 57 years old and can verify that "Gravity..." really does "...catch up with all of us"! She grew up in California and spent more than half of her life there but I can see why Marilyn would want to retire to another place. The horrible experiences and situations and memories Marilyn must have had in and of California, no family, few if any close enriching friendships, what was there for Marilyn to stay for?
She still loved LA. She was born, raised, and buried here. She attended UCLA and got her career started here. When she would return to LA from NY she would say how happy she was to be back. She was always at the beach and a beach girl at heart. When she came back to LA for good, she bought the only house she ever owned. Mexican style. Photographer George Barris said she had made a toast to the city right after. Where she was "born, raised, succeeded, and failed." His actual quote.
As a Brooklynite who wonders the same Brooklyn Heights streets Marilyn loved, I often imagine her here, walking down Pineapple Street, feeling free of people, just beautiful old streets and gorgeous townhouses….
I miss Brooklyn so much 😭 I lived in Park Slope for a decade. I absolutely loved Brooklyn Heights but couldn't afford to live there. At any rate, that's really cool to think of Marilyn sauntering along Pineapple indeed 🙂
It’s so weird that Marilyn Monroe is known as like a cheesy icon for being smart but she actually was really intelligent and so graceful. Opposite of what most people know her for
