Ford Mondeo Launch & Review (2000) 

I bought a Mark 1 Mondeo in 1997 and drove it until 2017. Loved it so much for those 20 years that I bought a newer replacement. A Mark 4 two litre in chill silver. Beast of a car, spacious , comfortable interior with a boot like a skip and personalised plate. Gorgeous!!!

I had two V6 models of this mondeo and they are good cars. The only real problems are wear and tear apart from The glove box assembly on the early cars can fall apart and the Zetec S V6 was pretty basic for the money, however it was a quick and responsive engine and the 5 speed box in the bigger engines cars feels better than the 6 speed.

When EuroNCAP crash tested this car it's structure became unstable. Something tells me those press cars had a bit more sound insulation. The Mk3 was anything but quiet.

My beautiful chill silver personalised registration mondeo was the victim of a hit and run whilst parked in a private shopping car park. The perpetrator has never admitted liability due to a massive problem with identifying the actual driver. A security personnel saw my car being hit and managed to recall the registration and write it down. The Police and my insurance company had no luck with identifying the selfish driver. So now I’m waiting for my car to be repaired. I have to pay the excess on my insurance and see if the repair can be justified as if needs a new front wing and bumper. My mental health has been greatly affected by this incident and I cannot bear to look at, or even touch the horrible damage.

The 'Intelligent Protection System' didn't seem so bright when the structure became unstable in the frontal crash test. The driving positions far too high, the road and wind noise far too prevalent and the TDCI models eat injectors for breakfast. 4/10

Resembulance HA HA Yes 4wheels and a steering wheel.There is no resembulance Passats looked out of date anyway and quite oldfashioned,even the update did very little to improve the Passat. Absolute rubbish to say the Mondao was the same as the VW. The passat was still from the 1960's The Britt motor industryand one sat in it similarly so,typical VW attitude ,thats what the customer gets not what he wants! The Mondao was all for satisfication of customer needs and wants not what the Factory wants to give ! PS.UK car industry suffered with giving what the industry wanted to give not what customers wanted. Am ex Dagenham Ford. Ford were not hooked to UK attitude they had the USA influence to help them avoid and Germany was a definate competition for Dagenham to do and be better.So customer wants were very important,ie Ford 375Classic,and Capri of 1960's Ford Anglia105E etc.These cars made World Motor Industry Pay attention. Amen.Then came Cortina??????
