Thank you! You saved me $150 (for 2 keys)! Many don't know that the FOB and the Chip (of the chip key - RFID) use separate programming, both of which can be done with the vehicle, saving a ton of dealer/locksmith dollars! I first programmed the FOBs to remotely unlock/lock/start/panic the vehicle. Then, I followed your instructions to program the chip of each chip key. It took one cycle through with 2 factory keys followed by one after-market key. Then, I opened, closed, locked the doors, and repeated that procedure (2 factory keys per your directions then the other after-market key). Worked perfectly. I now have 4 keys to my truck. Again, thanks a million. Great video!

Guy on 2007 expedition did the 8 turn process. Guy had it done in 1-2 minutes top with 1 key!!! Will try every way possible.

To identify the difference between the 40 and 80 bit transponder keys, the STRATTEC 80 bit key blanks will have the letters “SA” stamped on the blade and the 40 bit key blanks have the letter “S” stamped on the blade.

Apparently the fob needs to be programmed separately. Turn the key on/off 7 times and on again an 8th time. Locks should cycle. Press any button on NEW (I programmed remote) and locks should cycle. Remove key from ignition and locks should cycle again. Press buttons on NEW remote and they should all work.

Can this work on a 08 crown Victoria police interceptor. So I’m buying 2 keys with the control fob from Amazon and have them copied to the original keys and do this same steps? To program them …

I like how the last remote didn't program the transmitter. Whats the issue with that? I had same issue and when I out my scanner it said it was already programmed. Defective fob? I tested and it sends signal just didn't program to vehicle

Thank you it did exactly what you said it would. Everything else said to turn to on then back off with in 1 second and the second working key on then back off and put the on that needs programed in turn it on and back off and leave in for 10 minutes lol

Thank you, but my 2006 F150 doesn't have that lock icon on the dash cluster. it just has a wrench, battery, check engine, brake, ABS, seatbelt, & airbag lights. In this case how would I do this procedure? Or is there another procedure for my truck model year? Thanks

This method worked on my 2002 ford escape but it did in fact booted one of my keys off according to my scanner.

Can this be attacked from the other end? Can the transponder system be disabled? Sure seems like a lot of people are getting hosed for losing their keys or in my case buying a used truck with only 1 key.

I have to working keys of which I put in the first one then the second one,then I put in the key to be programmed, I try each to see if they would work, the only key that did not start the engine was the second working key, so I had to re-program that key with the first key and the third key that I had to program, now each key starts the engine. So programming the new key took the program off of the second working key

I liked everything you said except the part about the possibility to ruin a good key. I have a Mercury Sable 2008 and just paid a dealer $60 to program a cheap ebay replacement key. I'd like to make a 3rd key using your method. I sure hope I don't kill one of the good keys.

I am having an issue with programming my keys. I purchased two keys from Tomskey I programmed the keys worked but every now and than the gear shift locks and I can’t drive. What do I do. The engine runs but the gear shift will not move.

Can this be done with a fourth and additional keys?

When I try to do this, my security light just blinks fast when I get to the new key. Any ideas?

Had problem today. Customer only has one key and my Autel / Autek cannot add a 2nd key citing need 2 working keys. I can clone the chip but I ran out of a Ford shell to insert a super chip. Is there a way to work around 2 key limitation? Or I guess you have to do it as AKL situation in which I don't want to do.

You may have missed my questions on your Nov9,2013 video,hope you dont mind if I repost it here. Great videos,watched most of them and subscribed .. I bought a second hand 2009 Focus facelifted 1.8gas duratec HE 6 months ago,the car still runs fine upto now. 2 weeks ago the CEL light came on(still on but not blinking ,& car still runs fine), noticed the negative battery terminal broken had it replaced, BUT still with CEL light on,. Instrument cluster test mode(dash sweeping) shows DTCs: A895-trip comp module,9681-PATS,9318-batt volt low,. tried disconnecting battery and fuses to remove CEL then now with additional codes:D900- CAN interupted,A103 antennae not plugged,.. went to a garage for obd2 scan and he was able to remove the CEL light and codes:P0400,P2008,P1260,P1549, but he was not able to remove the codes from my cluster(dash sweeping), next day CEL light went back on, I was able to use the car with CEL light on for two more days,then it wont start anymore,battery shop told me that my battery have a dead cell had it replaced with new battery,car now starts and drives fine but still with CEL light on, tried your method now with additional codes: E510 (or U2510) Missing or invalid security data to Powertrain Control Module, E197-invalid data speed and E200-invalid data odometer(currently 8 cluster codes).The car still runs fine. 1.Help please, how can i remove the CEL light and 8cluster codes by myself? (I am from the Philippines and the nearest Ford dealership is about 300kms away..the garage with obd2 scanner cost alot) 2.Any insight on my case? 3.Assuming all my codes /CEL were only caused by faulty battery/connection(already addressed),. would the codes/CEL disappear on its own(after some drive cycles)? How much mileage/drive cycles? 4.Again assuming all my codes /CEL were only caused by faulty battery/connection(already addressed),. do i still need to erase all the dash/cluster codes to remove CEL light? any DIY to do that?

Problem now is the original key will start but won't unlock/lock doors or pop the hatch. Has that just gone bad on that key? I just did your video and no change in that key. I went to a lock smith and they wanted 180 dollars for the key plus 85 to program plus something else. I was totally zoned out by then. Ordered two keys and programmed them myself. All they needed was a gun to make it a real stick up.

I have a 2009 ford escape that was running good. No problem at all. Then just 2days ago i was in the store and came back out tried to start it and it would not turn on. There's no crank to it. Got a new battery and starter but still will not turn on.

I had a locksmith charge me $180 to program a key. I only have one key now that is programmed correctly. I will run it twice and see if it works so I have a 2nd key that works.

Riddle me this. 2011 ford edge. Go to unlock the door with remote and alarm starts going off. Unlock or lock button on remote does not turn off alarm. After alarm cycles off, I go to start the car and the alarm goes off again and disables ignition. 2 days of this and unhooking battery and no change. Currently at dealership as I only have the one key fob. Several phone calls to diff locksmiths and none thought it was a key fob issue. ever ran into this on a FORD?

Worked great on my 2013 f150, but the 4th key I programmed the fob on it will remote start the truck but will not turn off the truck with fob like the previous keys do, normally I can remote start but if I decide to shut truck off I can hit the start but once and it will shut off, any suggestions? I have two keys that will start the vehicle but the unlock function on one of the keys does not work. The lock and remote start functions still work, just not the unlock on one of the keys. This is why I need a new key. Can you tell me if this procedure will work for my new key?
