Fort Benning is great at covering things up. My best friends brother was killed there in a "training exercise" in the late 80s and the family got such a BS story (a sword _through_ his entire body).

@@johnathanadams6378 Yep. They claimed they were practicing running with swords and he fell on it. Maybe bayonet? All I remember is it was stupid, made no sense and haunted the family. His brother was there with him at the same time, left, pulled away from the family and got heavy into drugs and killed himself years later. All very bizarre.

2012 we had a OC married with 5 kids drop dead on a run from heat exhaustion. Ice sheets frozen solid... Huge cover up. My friends and I had our butter bars stolen a few weeks later... OCS has always been sketchy.

Had a dude at SFQC go AWOL into Fayetteville to score some crack. He got picked up, and was in handcuffs in a locked room at the OT (Out-of-training) section at Bragg. He escaped the cuffs, dove out the window, and was found, again, in town trying to score some more. I asked them if they really wanted to kick him out of SF? All you gotta do is tell him the enemy over there has a bunch of rock, and their heads are made of glass.

We've upgraded from a trainee stealing his M16 and going AWOL, hijacks a bus filled with students from an "injured" trainee hijacking an ambulance while being pursued by a helicopter and running on foot and then trying to hijack a Sergeant's car while the said Sergeant is in his car. Gets his a$$ owned, runs off, almost caught, and then gets tased. Multiple times.
