I think Mike liked Franz because of his warrior spirit. BTW Mike was also a good sportsman to those he both beat or lost too as long as he didn't feel cheated and they came to fight, he really wasn't the quite hooligan that he played up as in the second half of his pro career, no doubt it was good marketing to be the villain of the division. He did kind of lose himself though.

I don't know much about boxing and just started watching clips in past few years. What stands out when I watch Tyson though, is his ability to get in those devistating punches in the clench. Not always looking for the perfect setup KO, and gave him the ability to take down much larger fighters (even if it just wear them out and intimidation factor as well). I see the same in MMA, some fighters just have an ability to get in strikes or submissions from positions that other fighters don't think of or don't train. One of my favorite MMA fighters is the Korean Zombie (despite not having a title I just enjoy watching him fight), especially the fight with him against Dustin Poirier(the way KZ can transition from double knees to Jiu Jitsu is truly artistic) You only have so many opportunities in a round to get in effective strikes .
@headcreeps02
@headcreeps02 Год назад
It took years of sparring, training and fight film study for him to be able to do that. That is NOT a God given ability. It's a skill that can be developed with enough work. Most people don't want to.

You just know its comming. one punch, fully grounded his whole body structure behind it and tight spring of kinetic energy unraveled. All time perfectly, focused all that energy on a single point. That takes so much skill and years and years of training to develop to be so natural and fluid. it is without a doubt a master stroke. I haven't seen other boxer master that skill level. Thats how he goes up against bigger buys with sustained power punching.
