FrankenQuest 2: THE Most Comfortable Quest 2 Mod!

@@ZiggityZeke whilst they are happy to sell their strap to make an official adaptor would one make them look like the unofficially make oculus products for a business like them this would be a poor decision unless they made an official partnership. Then as a VR product can you imagine it. Nike making an official product for addidas. I think let others made the adaptor that way if the quest launches into your wall, you can simply say we aren't an official product so the liability is yours speak to the manufacturer of the adapator.

Its not. Not sure how to describe it, but the arms on the quest 2 are crooked and make the it slightly less comfortable. Still a fantastic solution, but compares to quest 1, it fits worse.

@@chrisfx8510 lol yea im sure he does, oled can switch off pixels completely making em fully black for better darks however i believe LCD has better colours and is cheaper or something ?

@@ChazzaPvP Easier to have more pixels I believe, its why the screendoor effect is barely noticeable on both the Quest 2 and Valve Index.

I like my Vive Pro w/ wifi and lens mod. Also paired with Index Controllers. I was thinking of getting Quest 2 just for fun and seeing how good it is.

@@randyx007 I recommend the quest 2 because it needs no pc so you can use it any time when you have wifi

Which DAS replacement size did you get/prefer, Regular or Thick?

@@Acanis87 the optional comfort strap in top isn't but the regular part is. Three inside is a different material. Anyways I tried everything out there.

probably extra cost. But I agree. Steller add-on to the DAS. I completely pimped out my quest.

It simply is because the Quest is so front heavy. This mod doesn't really alleviate this problem.

@@JoostShino Next mod should be to remove the internal battery and attach it to the back of the FrankenQuest.

@@d-wired or just attach a battery pack on the rear of the head strap. No need to tear your quest apart

@@Galahad993 I've tried attaching a large 10000mAh battery on the strap and while it's more comfortable it's also became quite heavy. I need to find a good balance but I would like to try out a halo-designed-strap instead.

Yeah but honestly for me it's still the best option, and the worst part is in my countery basically everything is 1.5 times the price (it would cost 750$+ shipping to get all this)

Yes, VR cover even makes a thick PU leather replacement which is what I did for my Frankenquest 1

You can always use a external battery in your pocket to extend the battery life if actually really needed

@@coolertuep I have that on the og quest and it's really inconvenient I never have them both charged and then I have to fumble around to plug them in. It's too many steps compared to elite battery but it's definitely really comfortable

I ordered Fri and it comes tomorrow but I'm returning immediately since it loses carry case functionality. I'm not taking the damn strap on and off just to be able to actually use my Quest 2, because it's meant to be portable and that's what I bought it for. If I was going for at home use, I'd have went Index after all the accessories and games I've got (I'm at about $900, well, including the deluxe audio strap at 100 anyway).

This is the answer I searched and searched for on Friday when ordering mine. Looks like I'm doing an immediate return, because the portability was my sole reasoning for going Quest 2, with as much as I was spending on it and accessories ($650) and then games (another $250+) I could have easily spent $100 more for the better headset and got an Index, which my PC is more than capable of powering with a 3700x/32gb 3600mhz CL16 DDR4/MSI 2080ti Gaming X Trio, but that was not my sole want. I want the Quest 2 to go with me to appointments and on trips and stuff, which the Index can't obviously do, without also taking my pc everywhere, and I have a large pc, not a SFF, so yeah. This is good to go ahead and find out though, maybe I can slightly modify it to be able to fit in the carry case, or even just order one of those pelican cases with square cut foam to be able to pull out myself and make the shapes I want, idk, I'd love to use this strap as I want a more comfortable one for sure, but if I'm stuck leaving the damn thing at home, I'm not paying $100 for the DAS just to LOSE the portability of the machine.

@@TheGauges420 yeah. That was my concern also. But I have the elite strap now and it just fits in my third party carry case and the official case is even smaller. I was looking at the halo strap that vrpanda is going to release soon similar to the one up on ali express but I asked him if it will fit in the official carry case and others and he said no. The Das is bigger I believe. And the headphones make it even harder to fit.

At least it doesn't cost 200$ anymore

@@kaii6544 I know but I don't want it. There's a big knob in the back that will make laying down with it a pain, and it has been known to break. Plus I bet the aftermarket will come up with better value for the price offered.

Mine is on the verge of breaking. It’s bending way too much and the weight is offset I can feel it almost about to snap so I ordered the deluxe audio strap last night lol gonna have to order a power bank on Monday

Bruh you can litterally get like aalmost any battery, and there are head mounts for it out there also. But in my case i am using a mount that you wear on ur back.

You could get it on Amazon if you're in Canada. I just bought mine a few minutes ago.

It's not because they don't have money, it's because not everyone want's to spend a 1000$ for a vr headset. You can buy x3 Oculus Quest 2 and still have 100$ left for the price of 1x Valve Index, so there is a big price difference.

You get what you pay for, if you want the best it won’t be the cheapest. By the time you have added a better strap, audio solution, face cover and link cable the HP Reverb G2 is a similar price with far superior lenses and overall better build quality. IF your main use is PCVR otherwise for mobile gaming Quest is presently the only option. Quest 2 will always use compression for PCVR so would never look as good as the G2 even if the resolution was the same.

And what stops you from creating one without friends? Or at least add your closest friends and make it so that ppl cant search for you? I dont even understand what people QQ about here, because my Google account (yes, youtube is google) knows WAYYYYY more about me than facebook. For some strange reason i dont even mind if they know more, because i hope that it could help then to at least show me commercials that i care about. And regarding facebook... nobody posts there anymore, but for me it's a great "backup phonelist" in case someone moves to another country or changes his number, so i can contact them. Do you know how many times friends visited from overseas and the only way to talk to them was to just ask on facebook "dude, where are you staying this week? what's your whatsapp number? lets have some drinks". And please dont tell me that you use whatsapp (owned by facebook and ANYONE uses it) but worry about them knowing who your friends are.

You can just make one and leave it pretty much blank except for name and (hidden) age.

Facebook bricked my Quest 2 on day 1 when I tried to setup a genuine account so it will be an issue for many going forward.

Anyone buying from the UK can expect to almost double the $19.99 price for the adapters to include shipping and also the possibility of import duty. Super-annoying to the point where I'm just going to velcro the damned Vive head strap to my Quest 2 :)

Just need to angle them and you will have no problem, don't have them straight down. So much adjustment on the headphones. Personally I love the headphones, stops having other peoples ear wax 🤮

@@karlallen6055 I've gotten them to park but, as you say, they need particular positioning. I spend more time dicking with the headphones and top strap to get the headphones to "play nice".
