There are so many videos available on the net on hspu, but your every video is so insightful and encouraging, to keep us moving ahead in our journey to achieve that handstand. Thank you and keep sharing more Sir.

Great tutorial makes loads of sense. Nail the handstand,frog stand and shoulder stand Get strong at military press 80% body weight overhead And then train the movement pattern once you got the general strength and balance. Gonna set a goal of a body weight z press so

Another fantastic video, showing the correct path to HSPU. At 52 I cam manage HSPU against a wall, but have never invested he time into balance/mobility. I have learnt that you have to be the full package to achieve your goals. Keep on with the great work.

Thanks! Yes the balance and mobility take a lot of time and investment. Having strength does give you some options with learning lower, bent arm skills first like Crow to Handstand

Really enjoying the content 👍. I’m a similar age and thought I would try more callisthenics rather than pure weights and really enjoying the challenge of the skills!

like before watching :) always great content, Paul. one thing that took me a long time to realize is, even with the bodyweight progressions, it takes a LONG time to achieve the HSPU. Can't expect pike pushup to HSPU in a month or two.

Great video. Just need to get my handstand in check. I can hold it for around 20 seconds in the banana style. Trying to straighten up with the knowledge from your videos. Great coaching style, you’re my go to source for both knowledge and motivation. At 47 years young and starting callisthenics 3 weeks ago, I’m a little late to the party. It’s a lot harder than I thought and I thought it was hard. I have the strength in a lot of cases but I am lacking in straight arm strength and technique. To be expected I guess. Hopefully in a few months I make progress, just got to resist the urge to quit. The only benefit I have is that I did gymnastics for a couple of years, however, that was 35 years ago 😂

Enjoy the journey! We are the same age, I started this style of training 10 years ago and haven’t looked back

Really good info as always Paul. Thanks so much. Can you address how we with a banana shape handstand can make this work? It seems with a torso in under balance and legs in over balance, wall drills don’t help with balance mastery and the HS push-up unattainable without the upper torso flexibility. Thanks again.

Such a comprehensive video detailing everything in such a simple and concise way great stuff mate👍🏻 I have one question. How much of a factor does using parallette bars play in all of this?
@PaulTwyman
@PaulTwyman Месяц назад
Thanks! Bars depend on your goals, training preferences etc. A lot of people never use them, I prefer to mix it up and use floor/box/bars

Bent arm strength is such different than straight arm strength. Half a year ago as I was doing mostly pikes/crows variations I was much strongwr than on SA strength (which was inexistent) I definitely need a better stratey on obtaining the HS pushup strength I need again. "Just" doing HS puahup negatives at the wall is a struggle now 😉.

Heya, i love your short video style of transfering lots of information. Question, do you have any tips for increasing wrist strength? When i do pushups or handstands, my wrists usually fatigue before my general muscle strength and i have to stop (to prevent injury), even though i feel like i could do more.
@PaulTwyman
@PaulTwyman Месяц назад
I prefer to focus on slowly increasing volume/intensity over time. Refining balance and all over mobility will create less compensation and more room for error

So im close to mastering hspu, just figuring out the correct interval training. What do you think about these workout plans: Heavy HSPU work starting monday Rest tommorow Heavy HSPU work Wednesday Rest 2 days Heavy hspu work Saturday Rest tommorow, repeat 2nd schedule: Heavy HSPU work Monday Rest tommorow Light HSPU work Wednesday Rest tomorrow Heavy HSPU work Friday Rest two days, repeat Which one do you like the best
@PaulTwyman
@PaulTwyman Месяц назад
Hard to give answers without assessing your level, volume and actual exercises. Every couple of days is normally good for HSPU. Make sure you are including lots of handstand balance work as it makes the HSPU so much easier

If we put a tape measure in front of our hands when trying to do the HSPU. At roughly what distance should our head touch the floor?
@PaulTwyman
@PaulTwyman Месяц назад
Roughly one hand space in front. Standard triangle as per headstand (but with angled bodyline . Limb length will change it slightly
