What a well done video. The summer before you made it, I ran into a problem with a FrSky plane receiver and TX16s. I bought the rx of eBay and it came with the LBT firmware installed. I went through all of the steps you did here following another video, but it did NOT mention the ACCST V2 incompatibility. I flashed it to that firmware successfully, but still couldn't get it to bind. I threw it in the parts pile, and think I may have thrown it away while cleaning up months later. I was *so* close to getting it, this video would have saved me. Subscribed!

THANK YOU SIR...I baught a handful of these recievers on a sale a few years ago and never did anything with them when frsky pulled theyre crap but I just dont have much luck with the complicated recievers they have now so i got them out and followed your instructions perfectly and flashed them all and they work perfectly.TY TY TY.

Times have changed, the open source has taken over and gotten so good. Many in the hobby have abandoned the proprietary gear of yesteryear.. I literally inherited a crapload of equipment and going through it, I found about 6 of these receivers loose, 5 of them I couldn't bind, I'll try back dating the firmware tomorrow. Thanks for the video..

@@propsoff Another thing I found out flashing another tonight. After you flash it, hold the bind button and turn on the external module set it to DSMX or something, then bind the internal module to the receiver to test. No need for a rig to power the receiver to test.

All that stuff you are doing is overwhelming to a new guy. I get it now and could do it no problem, but when I was new it was just too much. There was so much to learn. I just wanted to fly so I bought Crossfire Micro TX. SO MUCH EASIER. This hobby costs money. Time is money though. I always like learning, but I was running short on time. Great video though man. Some guys go way too fast. I will refer any new guys to your channel from now on. Bardwell actually assumes his viewers already speak the language. Trust me. Most of us don’t speak FPV when we are new. We just want to fly.

Thanks for the video. Question for you: As you mentioned, the R-XSR ships with 2 wire harnesses, one with 3 wires that you re-pinned for flashing, and the other with 5 wires for use in the aircraft. But my flight controller's UARTS have only 4 pins. So GND, 5V, S.Port, and which of the other two wires do I use (SBUS_OUT, SBUS_IN)?

My pleasure...🍻 Sbus_out will go to RX Uart pad. Sometimes, the flight controller manufacturer will label RX1 "Sbus".. Sbus_in is only used for redundant receivers - one of my first videos on this channel, I show how to run an Rxsr with an XM+.. I did this for my Rescue Drone to hedge against failsafes during a rescue...🍻

I chose to give the RX # to the next quad in line. If I have 42 already on that radio, I simply make the next model 43..

Thanks for your video. Binding with the TX16s worked straight away. I use a servo decoder for the rxsr. Here I have a question about failsafe: since I don't use a flight controller, no pulse is definitely not the right setting. Regardless of whether I program the rxsr or set the options there in the TX16s, I get no failsafe reactions to the servos. Do you know how to set this?

@@propsoff I wanted to set some throttle, some elevator and some rudder as failsafe positions. I set that in the TX16s under Channels. But that doesn't work. What I managed to do with the setting in the transmitter is the hold position.

@@willipreugschat You should be able to set up in custom, and set each of those values. Each of the 4 channels (sticks) have a default value, you can change each one of said values incrementally.

Trying to bind xrsr to jumper t18 pro. Seems to have bound with radio saying telemetry found/lost but, no movement in receiver tab of betaflight. I haven't downloaded this firmware just yet. Do you think that could be the cause if it seems to have been bound already? Great tutorial!

I would say yes. Honestly, I pay no mind to what it came with, I flash every single one I get. Also, before I install it. Also make certain the Ports Tab is checked and the Conf Tab has the correct SERIAL Rx drop down. Thank you for your encouragement...👍🏻🍻👊🏻

Hi, great tutorial. I wanted to ask you a thing. Did you notice any drifting in the center point of the gimbals when using the radio in different temperatures? I don't know if it is just my radio or it is a common problem for the hall sensor gimbals.

@@propsoff Thanks for answering. I contacted the seller and he said it is normal a bit of drift, even if he gave me 45 euros back on the purchase. I have to calibrate the radio to the temperature I use it but even if I do not do it I cannot really feel the difference so I will keep it. Thanks again. Waiting for the next videos.

@@Dosclic98FPVHi, I also experienced this issue. Went out from 21°C room temp to about 5°C for more than one hour. When I came back and turned it on at home (radio still being cold) I noticed the center outputs drifted about 5µS. This can be critical depending on what you are flying and what deadband you are using e.g. on a quad or flybarless system. I also read this is normal for "cheap" hall sensors. So I will check the outputs (the real output monitor, not just percentages) before each flight when I have a huge temperature difference in the future (soon :D). I also saw two yt videos where those expensive gimbals are tested, but both of them only checked the percentages after cooling down the radio - not sufficient for this test -.- :P.

Hold the bind button of the rxsr down, while powered up, until the blue light comes on.. If it is solid blue, your in SBUS. If there is no blue light, your in CPPM mode...🍻

I bought 2 rxsr recievers . The package says D16 mode The wires are gnd , 5v , sbus , sport , rssi No accehtt acccesd ahccess access Zorro has frsky some say D16 . One of those might work.

I have not owned one, so I'm not exactly sure. However, the manufacturer's site shows a pre-V2 "history" firmware for ACCST and says it has a D16 SBUS.. Should work the same.. Do let me know...🍻

I didn’t flash the r-xsr before installing and just binded it to my dc5. It won’t fly right, throttle gets hung up and crashes every time. Is it because I didn’t flash it?

I would imagine not a bind issue. There are lots of things that would cause your quad to fly weird. Because of the long list of possibilities, best to record a detailed and clear video of your Betaflight screens. The setup, ports, and configuration tabs mainly and then point the camera at the quad doing its thing.

So I have an Iflight Protek35 on the way from banggood with the frsky R-XSR receiver built into it. I bought the RadioMaster tx16s a few months back to practice in LiftOff and now I'm just learning there are going to be some binding issues... I have a couple of questions.... do you think it will be possible to do the firmware update without having to take the receiver out of the drone? And what is the black red and white cable you are using to connect the receiver to the transmitter? I'm pretty sure I'm going to need to get my hands on one of these. Is it possible without purchasing the whole receiver?

The RTF quad should come with the Servo cable, if not, you should be able to get one. It's simply a servo pin on one side and an SH-JST on the other side. As far as firmware, It really depends on the Frsky version it's shipped with. If you get it and it's ACCESS, you will have to change it to the old version. Yes, you will need to access the R-xsr to "downdate" it.. This is another reason so many laugh at us and shout, "get crossfire"..

Great video, I could use some help. I'm following the procedure exactly as you've shown but not binding. Radio master TX16s Max and X8R Frsky. I'm using a Futaba TX battery for power. The receiver has been sitting around for a couple years in my closet. It gets power but won't seem to bind. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help!

I just can't keep that ACCESSATT stuff straight. I can't remember what version my receivers are so either they work or they don't I just switch the Tracer. But I do have five or six Frsky receivers that I would love to use on my four and one TX 16s

Radiomaster, R-XSR, Brain2 helicopter Radiomaster Tx16s. Edge tx, Newest firmware, Set the internal module protocol to frskyx2, D16 R-XSR gets newest firmware fport version, blue light on for the receiver (sbus mode) using the (s.port wire) Connect to Brain2 with s.port wire into signal channel 3. Receiver set to Fport1 / Fport2 Works as expected.

Hello, I already bind my receiver to radiomaster tx16s because it shows green/yellow color and it says telemetry recovered/lost whenever i plug in the battery. I couldnt pass any values to the receiver tab in betaflight. I didnt do any update on the receiver cuz the drone is already pre-built when I got it. i wasnt sure what to do. I really need help on this. My drone is Eachine Cvatar.

You need to do the firmware "downgrade" as I did in the video. I was told, all rxsr receivers are now sent out with ACCESS. Do the firmware and rebind.

@@propsoff hello it took me a while to get back here because of the pins that needs to be connected in the receiver. so I just downgrade the firmware. and still cant get those readings. I noticed u did 41 on receiver number, so I copied it. this is a re-bind after the update.

Is it the same for the boxer? I have been trying to get it to bind but after connetcing to the boxer the lights arent coming on anymore. I think i broke it but idk how lol. I ordered another hopefully wont have the same issue

I'm not certain of the pinout on the back of the Boxer (I imagine they're the same).. Make sure to use the External Module is used to power it. Can you power the Rxsr at all?

@propsoff no the lights dont come on at all anymore but after thinking about it i have that big battery in the boxer thats reading 7.4v on the boxer screen and i had the rx plugged into the back same as you had it i remember you saying you used a 5v tester or something like that. Did i burn it out plugging it in?

Long story short i bought a xilo jb build kit from someone who built it but couldnt get it to connect, i seem to also be having that issue. Would it be easiest to just put in a elrs rx? This is my first quad besides a tinywhoop so im not positive whats the easiest to get up in the air

@@stefancates6851 If you have the financial ability to go Elrs, do it.. The difference between Frsky and ExpressLRS is very noticeable. Does your Boxer have a Multi 4in1 module? Then you'll need an external module. If you don't have a 5v source to power your receiver, I'm not sure what to do?

@@stefancates6851 Oh yeah, forgot to mention... The Rxsr has an operating voltage range between 3.5v and 10v... So you most likely didn't burn it out applying 2S voltage; However, you may have flipped polarity??

Any advice if you don't have FRSKY as an option. I only have FrSky RX, FrSky X, FrSky X2, FrSky L. None of which want to bind with my R-xrs receiver

@@jonnmedds Look at the bottom of your RadiomasterTX16S. Next, find the sticker labeling the firmware of your radio. Does it say LBT or FCC? Now, if in deed it is an LBT protocol, then the firmware recommended for your rxsr is "RXSR_LBT_ST_191112.frk

Did you tick the correct Serial RX slider in the ports tab? Is the correct protocol "SerialBasedReceiver" & "SBUS" selected in the RX section of the configurator tab? The radio. I do not have OSD set up yet. I have a camera and vtx, but no goggles or monitor yet. It doesn't even give me the option to delete sensors since it never picked any up. My mpm and radiomaster are up to date on firmware as well.

Just found your vid. I love your no non-sense approach. Very precise. I have a few of these receivers and couldn't get them to bind. I had them bound to a Jumper T16 (but it crapped out... NO WAY!!!)... anyway. I now have the RadioMaster TX16S.. I can get the receiver to bind, but BF will not see the receiver at all.. I'm totally lost.. BF will see my CineQueen, but not the receiver... anythoughts? I followed your vid to the "T".. Thanks again!!!

@@MrSabram07 Here you can not tell what firmware is on the R-xsr.. I have only seen a label on 1 that described what was on it. There are 3 different firmware versions to choose. I does not matter. Download the ACCST (History) to it for the RadiomasterTX16S, or ACCESS for a genuine Frsky radio that has pre-installed ACCESS on it.

If your RXSR still has the connector, you can place the adapter in place.. If you're unable to unplug that and plug in the adapter, then yeah, you'll have to remove it..

@@deehn4140 The TX16S is open source, there's lots to learn. However, if you get a Mobula6 or something like that (frsky receiver built in) it is easy.

You held the bind button-down on the RXSR too long and you've put it in to CPPM mode, so you must hold the bind button-down until the blue light comes on solid, that will indicate you're in S bus mode.

@@rre9518 The blue led on the R-xsr should be on solid to indicate SBUS mode. 12 second hold on the bind button should do the trick. If the green LED is solid, it's bound.
