i have a game theory, gordon freeman destroyed all of the ammo crates, and jolly in Too Many Crates destroyed all of the crates, only an ammo crate and a crate survived so they sexed giving birth to small ammo boxes with the capacity of normal crates, and this is how this game was born
literally when he threw the box through the wall i was like "see hes not dumb at all, he knew the whole time and was just fcking around with the button for fun". Then he went "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH", and i lost all hope.
my thoughts exactly when he drank water in the crate. I thought he was doing a bit but then he said "I have to break myself out, don't I?" like, yeah buddy. yeah you do
I’ve messed around in the source engine, putting NPC’s in boxes is just something you can do, it’s not a mod or special scripting or anything, and it’s hilarious.
Absolutely, but hats off to the mod creator for actually putting in some custom logic for some of them to actually get some really interesting effects.
All hail the king All hail the king All hail the king All hail the king All hail the king All hail the king All hail the king All hail the king All hail the king All hail the king
Tbf Pandora was never encouraged to open her box, quite the opposite, but did it anyways then again she was the prototype for women so that much could be considered natural
@@thatstockimageguy1067 I dont know Pandora, but from analyzing the stuff he said: "Hello new born baby woman, this is a box, do not open it." "But its interesting!" *Box opening intensifies*
@@thatstockimageguy1067 Zeus created Pandora as the very first woman (not girl, but grown woman), at some point he gave her a box containing all the world's evil and hope, Zeus told her not to open the box but she did it anyways, out came famine, sickness, war, etc. After that she became very sad but then she opened the box a second time and hope came out Later when Prometheus stole the fire from the Olymp and brough it to the humans, Zeus punished the humans by sending them the first women, these women were based off of Pandora
Thanks for playing my map! I had an absolute blast designing this thing. For an easter egg, look through the window into the large warehouse with the conveyor belt to the far right for a view of what the Combine are packaging up.
@@giperka The rebels are templates. Each crate contains a info_npc_spawn_destination. When the crate breaks, it targets all info_npc_spawn_destination in the map with AddOutput to change the targetname, tells the npc_template_maker to spawn, and then kills the info_npc_spawn_destination afterwards. I think this system breaks if the timing goes awry, but I don't know of a way to actually achieve that in the map. I don't think I used templates for anything other than the rebels and Barney. That's why they can end up at funny angles when you open the crate.
7:12 anyone who has played portal may get confused at this part as portal teaches you that you cant put the cubes through the blue grid but this is half life, thats not an emancipation grid.
That was just a puzzle that wasn't properly tutorialized. If he'd seen a crate fall trough the field or possibly a normal crate that was halfway inside of it already, he would probably have solved the puzzle much faster.
@@arcticfox037 Those are the combine barriers your talking about right? the ones that blocker player movement? In both cases there is the mentality of restricted movement
It makes no sense to me that after all his time playing half life maps his brain hasnt just been trained to recognize puzzles, because they’re always similar, but he can never figure them out
I'm good with no subtitles at this point, but can you at least disable the profanity filter? The auto-generated "[___]"s are so annoying. Thank you very much!
9:50 for a hot second there after breaking opening the boxes and finding crowbars and health, I thought him saying “I’m not *hurting* on crowbars” was a stealth pun about both types of item at once lol
2:30 "It's a rock...LOBSTER!" ~The B-52s 3:54 Speaking of "striding," have you ever seen what Striders do in the presence of antlion guards? You have to spawn them side-by-side to make it happen since it never occurs in the unmodded game (not sure about mods). The Strider will impale the antlion guard, killing it instantly, but then it glitches out and floats into the sky.
For some reason I can't explain, I just can't get enough of Jolly's style of commentary. It's unique, and it's why I can always enjoy his videos, no matter what he's playing.
Hey jolly, silly question maybe but what happened to some of your old videos? I'm specifically thinking of "half life abridge", that shit was hilarious and I wanted to rewatch it the other day and it wasnt there :( I know you have the old videos channel, but that one only has the really old stuff?
I really enjoy jolly's content, I really think he's genuinely entertaining, by making good comments, simple but efficient jokes and a really appreciated humor around himself and not being that bright sometimes. Always a fun time to watch his videos!
I suspect the soldier came from the chopper. I remember a kind of weird bug in the original HL2 where you can kill the pilot before destroying the heli :P
The Combine soldier that appeared when you fight with the helicopter did not come out of a box, he is the pilot of the same helicopter that falls from the vehicle after causing a certain amount of damage.
