FUNHAUS IS NOT AN INDEPENDENT COMPANY. THEY WORK FOR ROOSTERTEETH. People need to realize that these guys ARE roosterteeth employees. They are just another branch. That's why becoming a first member helps them. I feel like they should mention this every once and a while.

And THIS is why it's not a good business model to build YOUR business on someone else's platform. One thing changes and you're screwed. Rooster Teeth is smart in building their own platform and subscription service. Yes, their RU-vid network is huge, but it mostly acts as a funnel to their own site. RU-vid is murdering off all smaller channels trying to make content creation their job. The result is that RU-vid is just going to be all corporate garbage. It's going to just be clips of TV shows, ads, or awful quality cell phone videos...

I've always sorta gotten how independent RU-vidrs with lots of views can make it their job. But it has always baffled me how Funhaus, which gets, on a good day, 500K views a video, can sustain more than 10 people. I know not all ads are the same, and that they do ad reads. But every time I've thought about it, I would always come to the conclusion that either Funhaus is poor as shit or any indie RU-vidr with ~200K views per video is a fucking millionaire.

A 10 second ad-spot on a relevant television channel can cost upwards of $300,000. Typically it would reach a few million people. Considering the amount of people who stop paying attention during the ads. I wouldn't be surprised if businesses like blue apron and dollar shave club can afford to pay channels like funhaus $2000+ per video since it reaches 200,000+ people.

They use RU-vid as a reveune stream not THE revenue stream, to my understanding they use RU-vid as a billboard to promote content on the Roosterteeth website such as merch and first membership as they are wayyyy more profitable for the company.

I have created a public playlist on my channel of FH videos which gave me ads, for anyone who is interested. Reddit tells me 30secs or the entire ad, whichever is longer, must be watched for the advertiser to pay.

Problem is, afaik all the donations still have to funnel through RT due to their contracts. So why go through the hassle of setting that up on Twitch, when you can use RU-vid's own inbuilt streaming system that's already set up.

So here are some things I was hoping to become less ignorant about. 1. I've seen ads on Funhaus vids after the vid has finished, are they the same as "pre-roll ads"? Post-roll ads? 2. Is there a limit to how many comments you can have on a video? I've been a little excessive the past few videos and they seem to disappear. 3. The whole "thumbnails and titles are inappropriate" doesn't fly with me. I'm worried that this is another lack-of-communication scenario that RU-vid is throwing out (surprise). What do you guys think?

According to one of The Know's videos, RU-vid might be trying to start using AI to figure out if a video is unsafe or not. So a provocative thumbnail or title might trigger something within these AIs programming to flag ads out of the videos. Just my 2 cents

I can't answer for 2, but for 1) Yes. If you've seen ads on thier stuff recently, it's possible that not all of their stuff is frozen. I think ads still play on Sex Swing, for instance. But you can check whether the ads are working with the "Giant Enemy Crab" video they just put out - there's a block for an ad (the yellow bits) smack in the center of the video that plays as if there is no ad there. 3) Yeah, something about that doesn't seem right. It smacks of a RU-vid representative that isn't being told any useful information by corporate. "Maybe don't put offensive thumbnails and titles" is a seriously unprepared off-the-cuff response like the representative can't answer the question and doesn't know.

I honestly think Bruce is lying/trolling about the DemoDisc songs not being liked. Literally everyone loved them and pray for their return. Either he was focusing too hard on a minority of people and got self-conscience about his art or just got tired of "writing" the songs.

For me it was meta data and thumbnails. "Fuck to death" in the title = No good or "Corpses on Conveyorbelts" in the thumbnail = not good. Guess if you do it to many times or you get hit to many times it somehow black lists the channel? Dunno. Only had problems with two videos.

Olaeru Vladut He means they can't just BS for an hour and put out an hour long video of funny content. When Funhaus plays they generally cut stuff together, like if AH did an hour and a half and cut it down to thirty minutes of condensed "funniest moments". It's just different playstyle and editing direction, but it means Adam thinks Funhaus isn't as good in a live setting. There's a less constant stream of entertaining BS than AH, and a good chunk of Funhaus's humor comes from the editing, which you obviously can't do in real time.

Lawrence Sonntag I was kidding, you guys are my favorite channel and it's sad that this is happening to you. Since they are being so PC, I would just stick it to them and post a 10 minute video everyday that is just a blank screen with the date or something, monetize it, and make the real normal video for the day private. Then put a link to the real video in the "not offensive" one, and tell viewers to open the link in a new window so both videos play out. You get ad revenue and you don't have to change your content.

They were here in NZ after RTX Sydney wrapped up. No event's though, just a holiday. Unfortunately I don't think there is enough people in our country for a full event to be financially viable. Maybe they'll turn up to an Armageddon in the future. In the meantime, I 100% recommend saving up and travelling to RTX Sydney. I went to my first one this year and I'm hooked.

Just did a little experiment. Went to funhaus' channel and clicked a bunch of videos just to see if I could get an ad. After about 10 videos with no ad pre-roll, I went to Achievement Hunter's channel and clicked the first video I saw- their Snake Pass Let's Play. Immediately, an ad pre-roll played.

I didn't have to watch an ad to watch this podcast. I don't have any ad blockers. It actually happens a lot where ads don't even play on (what i assume is) monetized videos. RU-vid has some work to do to help the creators. Funhaus; I've been following you guys for years. You're content is hilarious and every episode has me in stitches. I appreciate how genuine you all are and how you can be serious and talk about important issues. Stay awesome.

Though I was one of those that really loved the Demo Disk songs, I also really love how willing you guys are to evolve and be unexpected. I think the world of you guys and hope that RU-vid figures this ad shit out because I would be crushed if you guys were unable to keep making stuff.

At the 1:00:00 mark or so James makes a joke to start with tampon bucket for new viewers, but funny enough that demo disk is, I believe, the first Funhaus video I watched in full and had me out of breath from laughing so much.

I wish there was a legitimate competitor to RU-vid. It would definitely make things better for everyone. Competition between companies is good for consumers.
