40 years ago I moved from Georgia to Alabama and the next week I drove a company car with an Alabama tag to Memphis. On the way back to Alabama I was driving on a 2 lane highway in Mississippi and came over a hill to see a silver car that had just pulled out in front of me. I started to pass him when I saw on the side of his car, “Mississippi State Patrol.” and slowed down to move back behind him. I know I was doing 65 when I tried to pass him and he was probably doing 45. He did not have lights on his car so he motioned me over. He came to my window and asked for my license and registration. He looked at my Georgia license and said, “Whoa, I’ve got a Georgia license in a car with Alabama tags passing a Mississippi state trooper . What are the odds of you getting a ticket?” I told him, “ 150 percent.” He busted out laughing and told me that he pulled out in front of me(neither of us saw the other) and next time, go ahead and pass him. No ticket!
In my younger days I raced a county deputy in one of the old mid 90’s Caprice’s. It was on a state highway in the middle of the night. We literally lined up side by side and went, he won.
In 1969-70 I was in college in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and often drove between there and my home in the Phoenix, AZ area. I had a 427 Corvette (which I also raced in SCCA events) and was known to drive a little fast (as in double the 70 mph limit) on the highway if there was little or no traffic). I was stopped somewhere in west Texas by a Texas Ranger. He was driving a Ford Fairlane with a 427 and 4 speed, and we got talking cars. Instead of writing a ticket, he challenged me to a race. At that time, I-10 in that area was a 2 lane road, he lined up in the left(opposite direction) lane, turned on his lights and siren, and we took off. I stayed right next to him at part throttle until we hit about 130, where I shifted into 4th gear,(I was running a 3.08 rear gear ratio) and floored it, leaving him in the rear view mirror. I ran it up to about 160 for a few miles, then stopped and waited for him. He just said "yep, he's you are faster." No other cars for miles, and a pretty cool guy.
Frank is awesome I’m 64 and my dad was a cop but watching Frank has reminded me to be a better driver especially with all these aggressive drivers on the roads now days.
second day of retirement - it's the morning, what am I doing today? Oh, I know, it's Friday, it's time for Friday with Frank! :) Keep up the good work deputy!
No way, he hardly writes people for criminal speed unless they've had previous speeding tickets or were going extremely fast. He did nothing extra generous in this episode.
@@Woeisme2it's really not. Like at all actually. Especially with how poorly designed most American roads are where speed limits are not designed with the actual road in mind. Putting a 30 in a double wide 4 lane road is idiotic and doesn't work. It's designed to get you in trouble and pay fines. It's a proven fact this is a horrible way to design roadways. This guy did nothing to help anyone. If he gave a damn about real safety he'd use his position to help get proper roadways designed and built. Not enjoy handing out speeding tickets. Hell where I live idk how you'd even get to 30 over. It's too dangerous or a camera will get you. Design your roads better so people don't disregard arbitrary speed limits.
@craig9365 I agree that most road designs are terrible, but terrible road designs do not cause people to disregard the laws. Human behavior causes people to disregard the laws. And it’s the job of the traffic unit to enforce traffic laws first and foremost. A road can be designed for 45 mph, but if the posted speed limit is 30, and you get a ticket because you exceeded 30, that’s your own fault and maybe, instead of blaming the road design for your blatant disregard for the law, you should own up to it
@craig9365 while I agree that some roads are poorly designed for both drivers and pedestrians, ultimately the driver is the one that is in control of the speed of their vehicle. If you go down a road that is speed limit 30mph, but it feels like it's designed for 45mph, and you get a ticket for exceeding 30, than you can go to court and share your opinion about the road to the judge and tell the judge you weren't responsible for the speed of your car. Sometimes roads start off with a higher speed limit, but after one or more fatal crashes, that speed limit is dropped, and I'm thankful for the officers that enforce it so if I get in a crash with someone else, it's less likely to be fatal
Just got laid of today after 13 and a half years and got half a month severance pay. Frank still put a smile on my face. Thanks Frank. I live in Pinal County. Hope to see you someday to thank you.
I wished he mentioned that there is local drag strips. In fact. I’d donate money to see Frank take the charger down the track in the other lane from a regular racer lol
My entire life, I have always kept the registration and proof of insurance handy. Never been pulled over, but this amazing Deputy Sheriff makes me double check it.
LOL!!! That's something deputies never have to deal with, taking a bag of money to the bank. Sad our troopers & teachers do not make more than the rest of us scrubs.
be aware of your surroundings! when you see a deputy with 7 pens in his vest you can be sure he issues more than a few tickets. it's time to be polite and compliant.
such a cool guy, ive driven since i was 16( from ontario canada) and am retired for two years now(67) had my first ever and only speeding ticket when I was 56 got pulled over where I knew they always were on my way to work and just couldnt stop laughing and smiling, the seargeant looked at me and he started laughing I immediatley said I know you are always here Ive been driving since I was sixteen I must shake your hand for finally catching me he laughed and gave me a ticket that didnt affect my insurance, I deserved it but good on him for ruining my record he was still smiling and laughing as I left, hey life is what it is lol
"I kinda wanna race" 👍🤣👍 Unless you have a 392 Frank and he has a Manual Trans, you have zero chance without using Motorola, but that comment made my day! Stay Safe 🍻
Provided the reason he pulled them over, and his name, while being calm and professional - love it! Sure he got a ticket, but the driver earned it for sure. This is how Police interactions should go!
Slow that Mustang down. Wilson Picket, Mustang Sally. Great blues reference Frank! Always happy to see a new episode and thanks for what you do for your community. Stay safe.
YAY! I love these videos!! I know you probably won’t see this but I’m an aspiring officer and I love what you do. You give just the right combination of kindness and sternness to people. You show them that what they did was wrong, while throwing in a couple jokes, and pointing out the positives. You and the sheriff’s office are so admirable and amazing, thank you for all you do!! I hope to possibly do a ride along and maybe be a part of the office someday. Love you guys ❤❤❤
So, you are NOT a good person because you let these dangerous drivers off without giving them the proper CRIMINAL charges. You are making the wrong decision with your mindless quote something like, "You are not in the system with previous charges so I am letting you go with only a civil charge." Duh, the dangerous driver has been constantly speeding and not getting caught so not in the County "system". Do you even know how many people are killed every year in America in accidents caused by dangerous drivers?
I once got pulled over for doing 50 and a 35 over a bridge he let me go with a warning because I immediately gave him all my information and when I spoke to him I spoke to him with respect when he was about to let me go he said to me what caught his attention in the first place was the rims on my truck and that he liked him and wanted to know where I got them so he could get the same exact set😮😂🤠
Hmm, it seems he's writing tickets like Lamb. And I heard Lamb is running for Congress. Which means there'll be an opening as Sheriff. Which means SHERIFF SLOUP!!
Trooper Byrd and Officer Frank get together on Race track to teach officer Frank Tr. Byrds MAJIC Pit S I donate first 10 bucks to fly Tr.Bryd to Az yeah LETS DO IT man you can charge for seats Lets do it up vote my comment maybe they do it 🎉😂😅❤❤
Even though the police and I dont get along too much, I respect the ones like this that are open and honest not corrupt. we cant both be criminals in a game of cops and robbers you know? 😂
Three people all with drivers license, proof of ownership and insurance? Frank, you should have gone to Vegas and hit that Tri-Fecta! Thank you sir, be safe!
