On the surface it seemed to me a novelty venture in nostalgia. Re-capturing that feeling of a news network for gaming back when it was the *only* option: it was special. Yet every time I saw comments about G4, it was never about that. They were always directed to the *people* who presented it, the format. So it had actual promise, it was no different than if Digital Foundry shut down and people missed it and it's hosts. It had a base ready to return and then the quality of the production could easily lead in new people, thus a long-term full revival. It's a shame.
G4 was a huge part of my childhood, but by the time I was in my late teens in high school in the late 2000s, I really stopped watching it as by that time we had gaming content on RU-vid and most of the time G4 was just Ninja Warrior and Cops reruns. I actually think a G4 reboot could've actually worked. If they had it have the tone of that 00s-era G4. Them being just another Kotaku, Polygon, etc but with "shows" was a huge mistake. They should've gone full raunchy, "cancellable" and "politically incorrect" as a way to stand out. A smaller budget, no big studio, and more of an emphasis on just dumb fun could've worked. Appealing to the types of people who use 4chan, not the fragile, stale Twitter/Resetera users who just simply can't do humor would've caused the kind of controversy that would've actually grown the operation.
Frosk just had to deliver her NPC rant because we didn't get enough woke garbage from Polygon, Kotaku, IGN, Gamespot, the entirety of social media, Hollywood, public education system, colleges, and virtually the entire legacy corporate media.
I was surprised that it's gone I love G4 so much and I'm gonna miss it now since I watch jirards video a lot! NOW we have a trend of "if you don't like it don't buy it or watch it" stuff looks like people will be fired! What's next people are going to say "if you don't like it don't eat it" now?! I skipped college many times to sit at home and watch G4 all day. Icons and Cinematech were my favorite. I still remember AotS premiering the Spider-Man 3 trailer and how cool it looked.... Until the movie actually came out haha. And yes, Morgan Webb was my dream woman at the time.
For this network to succeed, it would have needed guys like me in between the hardcore gamers and the mainstream. The fact that my first introduction to the revived channel was the Frosk rant, says it all. I'm not going to let some ugly zero woman tell me how awful men are on a GAMING SHOW while Clappy Sessman Clap-o-Gram cheers her on during a bullshit stunt.
Ultimately it was tone deaf. The rant could have never happened and it still would have tanked. Old media still has no clue how to address how to present their stuff in the modern age.
It shouldn't have come back in the 1st place, pretty much everything G4 did can be found on the internet now. Plus attacking the majority of your potential viewers was a dumb idea. Hopefully a positive lesson can be learned here, but that's probably asking too much from especially the hack gaming media and Twitter.

I had just learned they were back and excitedly subbed 2 days before the rant. I heard the rant and immediately unsubbed. Probably the quickest unsub to a RU-vid channel for me. I can tolerate people with varying politics but I will not be chastised by someone who doesn't know me and provide my support for the privilege.
Yep. G4 made a whoopsie coming back. It was starting to go downhill anyway, but that rant just very much sped up the process. I mean sorry Frosk, those guys just aren't into the 12 year old boy look. In all honesty though, I did find the stuff that was meant to be sexy pretty dumb, even when I was a teen, but it was at least still entertaining and they knew how to do things. Now looks don't matter to me (there is a limit, but a very small limit for me), and while a woman who looks like Frosk isn't really my type, it's all good if she's respectable. But my respect for her and the people who were "with her" on that rant, I have no more respect for them. I do feel bad for those who lost their jobs who had nothing to do with that rant. I hope they can find better, much more stable jobs. As for people like Frosk, I hope she'll eventually learn from her mistake and better herself in the future. Same for the others "with her". Until then, they deserved to lose their jobs.
Zoomer G4 sucked ass. Adam and Kevin were nice to see again, but their content was not enough to keep it going. I hope The completionist goes back to hosting solo with a team of trustworthy people behind the scenes.
Again, like I commented on the channel that ranted against g4's sick feminism before and that was me saying that G4 was supposed to be all about Gaming Content, Reviews, Trailers, Comic Books, Etc. G4 Series such as X-Play, Cheat, Attack of the Show, E3 Lives, and So Much more is a massive Smash Hit and was the most Primal Channel for all ages and stood out in the year 2006-until now. Now it is infected by Disney's influence and yes, I personally bring up Disney because they are power-hungry and demand the sexualization of children and will go after every Masculine-like network like G4 and fire all of the men who are legit and the women who follow and have obtain such successful traits and replace them all with straight up Gay/Pedophiles and Karens who's intentions are to ruin people's lives and take away the innocents of children. You see where this is going, this is starting to catch up.
