Ubisoft Sinks EVEN LOWER! Now Removing Your Access to Full SINGLE PLAYER GAMES?! 

This is probably grounds for a lawsuit. Just the fact that customers who purchased these games would lose access to their purchase is a disgrace. Now they'll actually have to pirate these games just to keep what they bought.

I didn’t even think it was possible to remove a game from your steam library after you already downloaded it, Ubisoft is really hit a new low with this one.

In a case like this, I see piracy as just reclaiming what is rightfully yours. Ubisoft should not have the right to take away something you bought. Once money exchanges hands, it is your property and I don't care ehat end user agreements say. If money leaves your hand, the product should be yours for perpetuity. A class action lawsuit needs to occur. As for the future I actually envision Nintendo pulling this next. They absolutely loathe people owning alternative ways to play their lazy ports.

I can't believe how greedy and short sighted Ubisoft is. Theres no reason they should be disabling single player games for everyone. They should just remove the 'always online' DRM check from those games, since they aren't going to be selling them anymore anyway.

I think that Ubisoft games should stay on the digital storefront because there are some people hasn’t play these games before. This is why I prefer physical copies of games. Any game that is removed from the digital storefront, you still have your physical game. When these games gets removed, the physical versions on the second hand market will get more expensive. It’s important to preserve games so that people of future generations will be able to play these games. It’s not a good idea for more game companies to try to follow Ubisoft’s path on removing games from the digital storefront. I think these games should be available for people who want to play a single player mode or a multiplayer mode, especially for those who are trying to get all of the achievements/trophies on Ubisoft games.

This happened before. EA does this all the time. This started for me with FIFA manager (a game that doesn't exists anymore) and a tool which let you play the games from the manager in FIFA 2005, they killed that service a month or so after I got it. That was my first burn and it wouldn't be the last. I now only play fully singleplayer games, mostly from GOG or pure indie games that will care. If I can't play if offline I don't even care for it anymore, it's my first test when I buy something and when it doesn't work I get a refund; Steam always accepts my reasoning (maybe they know me by now....). Also this is a fantastic argument for the piracy of AAA games and the promotion of Indie games.

European class action lawsuit in 3... 2... 1.... IGNITION! I bought 1 single game from Ubisoft, The Crew 2 (all other games were given free from one place or an other). After a big update last week i discovered you cannot play the game without a server! If i had known i would never have bought that game! Now i know better! Thanks Ubisoft.

So basically Ubisoft is putting on an artificial time limit for how long you can play something that you purchased.

Besides not supporting these big companies, I'm not sure how we can convince them over what their doing. As long as they are aiming for the lowest common denominator, we, major supporters, will become more and more alienated to the point that we are nonexistent to them.

There are people who weren't even alive before this stuff was absurd. It won't be long until we're saying " back in my day you didn't need rectal verification to play your games!"

I haven't played a ton of newer Ubisoft games for the past almost decade. The only ones I've really bought and played are the Rayman and Rabbids games, and Far Cry 3. Other than that, the only other games I've gotten were free through Xbox Gold or something like that. I never tried getting their games cause I thought they were kind of scummy anyway, but this further discourages me from getting their games. Which sucks cause I was looking forward to getting the new Rabbids game and the upcoming Mario+Rabbids. Maybe I'll get the games used sometime.

This is why I strongly recommend backing up your entire Steam, gog, Uplay, Epic store, and Origin game libraries to multiple hard drives. At the very least... If a game you own disappears from your purchased list, you still have a backup copy you can crack, patch, and keep playing.

Why did they do this? I can see at least why they would remove an online multiplayer game, but why this one? Liberation is a single player game. Does it cost money to have your game available for digital purchase or something?

Ubisoft has clarified that you will still be able to redownload the game and keep it in your library even after it is removed from Steam. Still shitty but atleast current owners don't get fucked over. So it is basically just a Super Mario 3D All Stars situation.

Haven't bought a ubisoft game since they fucked me over on tom Clancy's division with a fake trailer and fake gameplay. Every day they prove why this was one of the greatest decisions I ever made.

Ultimately, I feel this is the always online DRM problem finally materializing like so many of us predicted years ago. While I wouldn't put it past companies be all gung ho with denying us ownership, most have been tepid at best when approaching till now because of consumer backlash. The thing is, I fully believe they can't or at the very least they originally decided not to remove the DRM because the effort is not worth it. You have to remember that the 'Always online' DRM is baked into many systems of the game and designed to be difficult to circumvent. Removing it, therefore, would be no different then if you were to pirate the game as you'd need to circumvent the DRM specifically. They likely did not think about this problem back when they released the game, but now that server costs are becoming a problem they kinda have to now. The best comparison I can think of is that of a school assignment that is required to be handwritten, but one student did the majority of the work on a word processer. While the later does make things easier, and gives a greater decree of control, EVENTUALLY the assignment will be due and that student has to re-write his work by hand. For ubisoft, this is that moment. They have three options: Cut the cord on the Servers and in the process kill these games for those that own them. Patch out the DRM in a likely expensive effort to avoid the worst of the backlash. Or cancel cutting the Servers and accept them as a permanent expense for the company.

People think the resolve to this is buying physical copies, and that couldn't be more enabling if anyone tried. That's exactly like saying, "It's okay what you're doing, because we have another option", when in reality we should be saying more of, "This is an infringement on our purchase".

I fear this is just the beginning. Games have been delisted before, but Ubisoft is the first to do this current trend. YOU WILL OWN NOTHING AND LIKE IT FOR A LIMITED TIME.

I'm trying to beat my Uplay games (most of which I got free) as quickly as I can to then uninstall all games along with their launcher from my PC and never buy an Ubisoft title again. It's about time we stand up against their bullshit

The only way they can possibly top this is if they hire an investigative team to go to people's houses with a search warrant and demand all disc copies of Ubisoft games. No reimbursement, no refunds, no refusal. Or else there will be lawsuits filed. Wouldn't put it past Ubisoft to pull this stunt.

Kinda like what happened with R*. They pulled their original GTA games from Steam for people to buy their remastered instead. Ubisoft maybe wants the people that bought their original games have the reasons to buy them again with this kind of practices? Even bigger scummy move if that's true.

How about making us pay a monthly license fee for newly released single player games we bought just to play and/or access them? And at some point just randomly removing them? But first we need to pay $70 for the barebones game and depending if you bought the DLC or not that would scale the monthly fee we would have to pay. And if we don't play the game in 90 days it's gone from our library even if we pay the monthly fee. Now that would be amazing!!

The only Ubisoft game I own is a physical copy of the Scott Pilgrim game for Nintendo Switch. And that's my limit.

I honestly wondered what has gotten them to do this. Is it because of U Play? Are they making some kind of deal with a gaming publisher? I just don’t really understand the point of this. While I’m not big into Ubisoft outside of the Rayman series and Beyond Good & Evil I know that there are a ton of fans of that company who are understandably upset about this decision they’re doing.

I do want to point out that Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD was delisted from Steam since the release of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey since you had to buy the Deluxe Edition for access to the Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered which included the game. So not only could you not buy AC: Liberation HD by itself at that time, you couldn’t buy Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered separately either without buying the Deluxe Edition of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

If people bought it with the general expectation of permanent access to it. Them in most places they have full and continued right to have access at the expense of the publisher. I've made it a point for a while now not to buy Ubisoft games. I'm no doubt missing a few good titles, but given this and the revelations about their management's workplace behavior, I'd rather not support them financially.
