Ceremorphosis means the affected individual will turn into a mind flayer in a matter of hours. They're not a patient, they're a ticking time bomb. Gale reacts like this because he is also a ticking time bomb.
@@TonkarzOfSolSystem do doctors kill people with rabies? Or they try everything even the radical method to save the patients, even volo had better ethic than nettie
I think you can respect (death) more by not fearing it. Of course you shouldn't embrace it and run willy nilly into danger 24/7, but death is inevitable. There's no point in fearing it. Accidentally said fear where (death) is, for any confusion.
I love how Gale considers you a friend even this early and is pissed about you nearly losing your life, even if it’s more about how she views life that it is about yours.
@@nekomochi486I mean if your playing a dnd rpg you’d imagine people would have the ability to pay attention to dialogue I mean that’s like 50% of dnd talking
@@impishlyit9780Where does he manipulate you? If you are talking about the Crown of Karsus stuff, nothing there was manipulation. The only character who does manipulate Tav is Astarion but people love him (rightfully so)
@druid_the_lizard_wizard Getting Astarion to feel safe enough to drop the manipulation instincts is such a high. Love seeing my baby feeling safe and secure.
This is so deep. Gale sees the parallels between himself and Tav, and Netty straight out trying to poison Tav reminded him how Mystra did the same to him without giving any chance for redemption (at this point of the story).
Damn, my respect for Gale just grew even more. He already thinks very highly of me in game (even tho I’m not very far along and still have no idea wtf I’m doing really.) How did you get her to poison you? That didn’t happen to me, instead she confessed that was her original plan and made me promise to drink poison the moment I feel myself start to turn
I had the same experience as you. When she brings out her weird stick, I didn't agree to her cure, but answered all of her physician related questions.
I believe that if you do not recognise the stick for what it is and let her stab you, this might trigger Didn't happen to me as my druid recognised the poison immediately and refused
Gale is such a fantastic character. I can’t stand when people hate on him. Like can people seriously not get over losing three enhanced items? And super early into the game where they’re super weak anyways? Also, people just have no idea how to use Gale in fights too. He’s one of my most powerful companions. I also just adore his sense of humor and nonchalance about a lot of things. Tim Downie did such a fantastic job with him. Honestly his voice work is one of the main reasons I love Gale so much. His voice is intoxicating to me.
seriously?? i see people like “omg he always dies he’s so weak!!” WHY ARE YOU PUTTING HIM IN THE FRONT LINE???? HES A WIZARD HE STAYS BEHIND AND FUCKS SHIT UP WITH THE MAGIC EQUIVALENT OF SEVERAL KINDS OF GUNS.
Same with Astarion! People who think rogues are weak baffle me. I don't have to do shit half the time! Gale casts haste on Astarion who finishes the job immediately. Of course, I've also seen people call *monks* weak, so yeah. Skill issue.
@@tiph3802 astarion is like my DPS!! he can EASILY do 80+ damage when he rolls particularly good and even when he doesn’t he usually still gets 20-30 dmg. gale and astarion are the strongest of my main team!!
I just want to say i love him so much 🥲💕Did you know that he falls in love with your Tav even if you don't romance him? In one of mine playthroughs, I romanced Astarion and when my Tav kissed him, Gale said “love is a wonderful feeling, take care of him” and looked at me with the saddest eyes. And also the scene with the walk where he says “the timelessness for lovers". So if you are a good character in the story and with Gale, he will fall in love with you😢
I didn't even do any flirty interaction with gale but during act 2 when I fixed Karlach who I was romancing, Gale confronted me and was like "When did you plan on telling me?" He's a wierdo.
hold on when you kissed him? i banged astarion in the party, but if im not mistaken im not locked in romance yet, but i never had a chance to romance anyone else after that other than halsin confession in act 3, gale maxed out i always bring him the entire journey but other than that i cant confess him or him confessed to me
the smirk on her face show that she didnt had to do it but wanted to and enjoyed every second of it , it speaks volumes of how "good" she is at her job , no wonder everyone wanted Halsin back so bad because they knew Nettie would murder them all before the ritual even ends
Gale makes me want to play a Vengeance Paladin just to strike down those who wrong me. I love how passionate he is. Big paladin + magic nuke is always a good time
God I love this guy so much. Also that comment someone made about this reaction being due to his condition broke my heart, he’s so scared, and it’s always about hurting others, he’d throw away his life in an instant if he thought it would keep others safe
This comment is definitely meant to make you reflect on Gale's own situation. Mystra takes many extra steps even. By sentencing Gale to the death she had in for him, she nonchalantly says "Yeah actually, the world WOULD be a better place without you" basically
It's cute that he cares for your character like that, and noble of him, that he knows such practices are wrong. Gale would be one of the best characters (for me), if it wasn't for his magical item problem 😅.
the magical item thing isn't even a big issue. It's just 3 magic items in the beginning of the game then never again (and theres a lot of garbage magic items in act 1 you can give him, and you'll be unaffected entirely.)
@@dhampir_daysThat's one of the problems with paladins -- they are so focused on maintaining personal purity that doing good in the world becomes secondary. At least Vengeance paladins are more outwardly focused, for all their flaws.
Nettie has NO chill. Normally you can talk your way out of having the goblin in your party, even to the Druid second in command. Not her though, ohhh no. She goes full terminator on sight.
He doesn't make a strong first impression, but Gale is really starting to grow on me. After recruiting Minthara, and all the fallout that entails, Gale's basically the only good guy left in my group. Everyone else is morally ambiguous or downright cruel. Gale has a heart of gold. Also, netherese black magic orb or whatever, but like, mostly gold.
I mean, your characters are all infected with a creature that turns you into a mind flayer, and no one yet knows of the stasis the tadpole is in. Taking an opportunity to quietly snuff out a very evident threat to your entire existence is something to be expected of people who value life and nature
A doctor, no matter where they're trained would still because of their profession would ideally let a person know that their about to be euthanized. And netty doesn't get an out for 2 reasons one she admits that she would have killed you if you pass a perception check and she immediately makes use of your livelihood to better serve her own self interest.
I feel like a lot of folks miss that Gale has been living with a death sentence for over a year at this point. He has *felt* the cold breath of death and I feel like he's speaking perhaps in his own defense here. He has *felt* unworthy of living before, or at least of other folks acceptance because of his "condition." His empathy is on overdrive here. He would not like to be put down thoughtlessly without his say-so. So when Mystra makes her wishes known later on, it's not that Gale has no value for his own life necessarily, it's that Mystra offered him some control and meaning in his *own* death, which he sees as something he can't control until then. Someone whose opinion he values highly just handed him a solution that (possibly) benefits others, gives him forgiveness for his guilt, and offers him control over a situation he thought uncontrollable. There's a much deeper motivation than *ambition* at work here. I read Gale as someone who highly values his own autonomy, and has enough empathy to care for other people's autonomy as well when given the chance.
She did not try and poison me at all and then my journal updated and was like "Nettie tried to poison us, but we convinced her not to:)" that journal is the most useless thing in the world. Half of what it says is just plain wrong, and often it contradicts itself too
not even remotely. hes angry because if she killed him he wouldve blown up the entire grove and half the coast with it. her 'solution' was reckless and selfish. hes fully in the right to be angry, no projection needed
He fears his own death and wants to live. This is excellent foreshadowing for his character arc, showing his uncertainty to commit suicide just to get his ex girlfriend's approval. It's more sad when you know that Tara kept him alive for a while, when he was too depressed about being dumped by Mystra to even take care of himself, Tara would steal magic items for him. He says she saved his life.
I managed to rizz almost everyone accidentally but the only companion I wanted to rizz gives me no attention at all super friendzoned by the sassy vampire asterion
Honestly a correct reaction, i greatly dislike Nettie because this is NOT how a doctor should act. I get turning into a mindflayer is serious business but its against everything a doctor stands for to lie and attempt to euthanize a patient. Doing that under the guise of helping is very uncool.
Lest say a patient comes into a doctor with a bomb in thier stomach, from what the doctor knows unless the patient dies the bomb will explode snd kill everyone in the building. There is not enough time to get the patient out of the hospital. What should the doctor do in that situation?
@@altaccount9716 Explain the situation to the patient. Then call the authorities. The bomb in question has three to four days before exploding, so alternatives can be seeked for now. And only if there;s no hope left, *then* you kill the patient. Gale straight up said in the video that what pisses him off the most is the lack of thought and care. Infected by mindflayer tadpole? Death! Immediately. No consideration, no alternatives. Death.
Are you talking about Tav or Gale here? It really helps to explain Gale's reaction, since Netty's behavior mimics Mystra's somewhat. Not to mention, it doesn't matter- a doctor's job is to heal, not to harm. It forsakes her purpose to try to kill Tav, however noble her intentions. She's a bad doctor, but may be a good person.@@altaccount9716
First playthrough. Lost lost Gale immediately cause I didnt give him a magic item. Didnt care until I was too deep in the game realizing he was one of the main characters. Any way to get him back somehow?
there is no way to get him back. it literally tells you 'a companion has *permanently* left the party'. how the hell did you manage to lose him? just give him a shitty necklace or ring lol. he tells u like 30 times how important it is
Despite Nettie being one of the actual "good guys" at the Druid's Grove, she infuriates me the most. First, she tries to kill you via poison. Second, she sends you on a suicide mission to rescue Halsin, who might as well already be dead in order to get rid of your tadpole. Third, after you return with Halsin and request a reward for what no one else had the balls or brains to do, she scoffs at you, and hands over a pouch containing A BUNCH OF APPLES?!? THIS is how you turn heroes into villains. By causing them to grow bitter, and decide to "fuck it all". And suddenly only Astarion, Shart and Minty are left in the camp.
